This is a strapping technique that I have adopted for Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome. It would also likely benefit patients with Abductor Hallucis muscle strain and also Plantar fasciitis/ fasciosis.

I want to thank you so much. I'm a 20 year Lic. Massage Therapist in the US & am dealing with Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome. I've taken a course in Kinesiotaping but there's so many applications that I'm surely no pro at it. My knowledge of anatomy though proved very helpful. I ordered Rock Tape yesterday through Amazon & got it today. I now have it on following exactly how you showed here & it's working wonderfully so far!

I am trying this technique today, modified for sports tape (DYNAMIc TapE, beige), so I only used one, 10-inch strip of the first two, and 6-inch strips for the last two. Within 10 minutes, most of my foot pain was gone, and it’s been about an hour. So far, so good. Other taping methods have simply chased the pain around my foot.

Thank you doctor. I have tibialis posterior tendinopathy which caused tarsal syndrome. How can i tape in that situation? Appreciate you

If someone has tarsal tunnel syndrome, does it make sense that when they lie down and rest the back of the ankle or the side of the ankle on their bed...that the numbness and stinging would increase in the foot and toes? I sprained both of my ankles playing sports when I was a kid and probably never let them heal properly, but haven't had any problems all these years until I did two stupid thing.....I wore shoes that had absolutely no support for about 4 months straight and then one-day I got the bright idea to jog up and down my stairs as exercise...and numbness and burning set in after I did that for about a week. I'm suspecting that I woke up those two old injuries and now somehow developed tarsal tunnel. Advil strangely makes it worse. I've been suffering nonstop for about 8 months and don't know what to do. When the podiatrist pushed between my metatarsal bones the nerves were very tender in-between the first three....and the first three toes are also numb....it all seems to stem from the back of my ankles into my feet. Sorry to ramble on, I was just wondering if any of this seems to line up with tarsal tunnel because my podiatrist didn't check me for it.

Hi Erin, if you are experiencing this nerve pain in both feet, then have your practitioner rule out any nerve impingement from your lower back down to the feet. The nerve problem maybe occuring higher up than the metatarsal level or even higher than the tarsal tunnell. You can have this assessed clinically and if needed with a nerve conduction study. If the problem is from the tarsal tunnel, then have an MRI to rule out lesions (such as cysts, tumours, vsricosities etc) that can push on the nerve. It can be difficult to isolate the origin of the nerve issue and will require a few tests. I made another video of a patient with tarsal tunnel, just prior to him having surgery. See if his symptoms fit yours. Hope you find the cause soon. 8 months is a long time to be in pain.

Also yes, when at rest nerve pain can worsen.

@@DrOzanAmir Thank you so much for giving me such a thorough explanation of what to look into Doctor. I really appreciate it. It's been more of an explanation than I've gotten at my visits with the podiatrist I saw, she never explained any of that. I did get a script written for an EMG so I guess I will follow through with having that done because this is beyond what I can take at this point. I'm going to watch the other video you mentioned, thanks so much. 😇

After the taping can you walk in it and for how long

Yes you can walk with taping. After 1-2 days the taping looses it's strength and needs to be reapplied.

Hi Tsubasa, the taping is different for sinus tarsi syndrome. The technique I use is called 'low dye'.

@@DrOzanAmir can you please do a video for Sinus Tarsi syndrome treatment? How to strengthen, what areas to massage, and anything else you’d recommend? I’ve had it for almost at least ten years and I feel like it’s getting worse… I don’t want an injection nor a surgery. I guess orthotics is the only option but if there’s anything else I can do to be pain free, please make a video!!! Thank you in advance!!

Sorry for such a late reply. If the numbness is due to tarsal tunnel syndrome, it may have benefit.

This is probably a dumb question, but why are there different colors of tape? Are you using different kinds? What is best? I have no idea what names he was using for the tape. I have TT and I'm in so much pain and my podiatrist have me expensive orthotics and I can't wear them at all Omg so painful! I love the tape so much I just don't know how I can do it on myself... 🤔 ♥

Hi Tita, I find most patients with TTS get worse with orthotics. My preferred tape is leukoplast sports tape. You can use this only, rather than 2 different types.

@@DrOzanAmir thank you so much for your time. Do you think it's possible to do it *correctly* on your own feet? My pod tapes my feet and has me push my toes back as far as I can while she does it (sooooooo painful with TT-but ends result feels great) do you require the same of your taping?

@@titabean6362 it is much easier to have someone else apply the taping, but you can perform it yourself. It wouldnt be as good as your Podiatrist doing it. Once you have done it a few times, it becomes much easier.
