Tara Brach - Beyond the Fear Body (Part 1) - 06/03/2015
A central part of spiritual awakening is recognizing and befriending fear, and in the tender intensity of fear, discovering the awakened heart. In these two talks we explore the suffering of becoming identified with the fear body, and the skillful means that enable a full and liberating presence with fear.

I think the stroke anecdote revealed a fundamental and naive misconception. That our spirit is somehow separate from our physicality. Unfortunately the human brain is just that, a physical housing of our perceived mind and spirit which is why the stroke victim was unable to call upon those things.

Fear is related to ego you are right that if we belief in a power greater than is us.some call god or love..kind of the same . ,this eliminates fear.

What about anxiety disorders like social anxiety? Or Social "phobia"? I was like this ever since a kid. What can you do about them? Its much more harder to grasp & let go of that intense anxiety especially if its already wired in your brain to be anxious & tense all the time!

I also suffered from anxiety from early childhood. What has helped me the most is finding the root cause of my fears. In my case it was my dysfunctional parents and grandparents who raised me up. Once you've learned your triggers and your body reactions as well as your false beliefs, you can change your life. The fear doesn't come any more. You also stop fearing of your own fear and discover that underneath your fear are other emotions like anger, shame and guilt. A lot of my own fear was in fact blocked anger. Then I learned how to recognize my feelings and deal with them by being compassionate and loving like a good mother and father. Hope this helps.

@Angie, it seems yours was learned or brought up but I had Selective Mutism as a 5 year old and upwards. Not sure if it still remains in my system (probably does) because Im still tensed up & it was left untreated. Selective M., is an anxiety disorder that affects approx 7/1000 kids & if left untreated can have a negative impact on adults. Im now 22 & i wasnt treated for it. So my anxiety wasnt learned it feels like i was born w/ it- that nervous system was always so sensitive in me. SM is not a choice. Its automatically ingrained. So please dont believe that we have a choice to talk or not. So yeah I was "mute" everyday at school believe it or not! And as shocking as it seems, i did get counseling early as a 7 yr old but it wasnt targeted for my SM & they said i wAs alright- no problem w/ me. Little did they know it'd have a negative impact growing up.

I believe you. SM can be a result of pre-birth trauma or you taking over your mother's anxieties. It can be due to early neglect. Your're right to be angry at the people who were supposed to help you especially when you were so little. Instead they added to the problem. I feel sorry for your pain and helplessness. I myself tried to cure my social anxiety & panic attacks by going back using talk therapy & psychodynamics. Only by looking at trauma &brain injury have I managed to see the light and elevate my symptoms significantly. I got interested in Quantum healing just to prove myself and others that there's more to my suffering and I will not live my life in constant anxiety!!! It's not a life. It's a struggle and survival and it's horrible!!! So to learn new tricks and overcome my old programming was a challenge and now after >3 years it's kinda blessing.

@Angie How do you find Quantum healing? How'd you get it? There are many ways to "cure" yourself like using brain reprogramming, psychotherapy, etc. Not sure which one targets severe emotions. Sometimes i think ive an emotional disorder.

Love your perspective! But what's up with saying "Asian art"? Is it possible to be any more specific, as Asian people make up almost half of the world population?

Please put in some "trigger warnings" re: having a stroke for people who don't want to be confronted with terror during a meditation Last time it was the victims of the 911 attack and their frantic phone calls now its this.

THere's no "FEAR BODY" according to Eckart Tolle, it's "PAIN BODY" and it's nothing like what you're talking about! It's not about fear!!
