Quality info and presented in great detail. I started doing doing something very similar (about a year ago) to those drills during training. And something else i include to my pre-hunt warm up, is reminding myself "that i don't have to take the shot" . Remembering that message in the field , really clarifies for me the decision whether a shot is either marginal or solid. Greetings from Australia and your latest subscriber. I'm looking forward to following your channel and learning from your skills, cheers .

Here to share! I have a student's mind when I approach coaching folks. Everyone is different which is obvious but it's our experiences that separate us.. Everyone misses! It is critical to accept that part of shooting- whether a stick bow- rifle- or? Really appreciate you showing your perspective! Cheers!

You've probably seen my journey. Going completely trigger-less has been a struggle to say the least. A true battle with the mind. But I want to validate what you are saying to people. Let downs are HUGE. I do them every practice and they are my anchor for staying accurate and in control of my shot. Second, what you said about long holds is also true. I will do long holds as a training aid, but they will breed shot anticipation, its nature. Our brains can only concentrait for a few seconds truly... so getting shots off at a speed that you can still stop the shot if you want, but not holding long, thats best IMHO. Lastly, AGREED on cold shots. They have never been realistic for my hunting style either and I do not condone anyones "cold shot" being on a living animal. AWESOME video Grant!

Hey! Thanks Ethan! And yes very thoughtful and logical comments; As you are directly aware its much like training for Urban Ops with a carbine- without the functions test and weapons handling basics nothing under pressure is going to work when it counts.. I've had so many folks come out thinking they have shooting "style" problems when its how they are shooting to hunt specifically without taking the time and being progressive with the pressure. Your way matters...and alot of the pros out there need to see things from other perspectives- the old be teachable thing.. Keep on keeping! Thanks for the words! - G

I’m going to try this. My TP has gotten so bad that I went from a seasoned long/recurve bow shooter of 30 years to looking like I just started. Awful. The only thing that has helped so that I can hunt, is using a low let-off compound with a release.

Let us know how it works out for you! I use different forms of this drill prior to every hunt in my warmup sessions… I don’t go all out and launch arrows in a rush. I stop and adjust my head around what I’m about to do- ie warm up my eyes and brain etc to hunt.. I then will start a simple let down series and shoot on the third round of this. It is very realistic hunting perspective wise.. and sets my brain on the path to heading out. Good luck!
