“Russia abandoning Crimea will be a gigantic step towards ending this war because I think for Russia, Crimea is what it's all about.”
Ukraine could “accomplish the ejection of Russia” by targeting Crimea with ” long-range artillery and weapons” says Lieutenant General Ben Hodges..

@@Ridethebomb777: You are factually wrong. Hodges is a senior director of a charity that donates significant amounts of cash to Ukraine’s cause. He knows Zelensky personally. He maintains friendships and regular contact with insiders in NATO and the UN, as well as America’s armed forces. And he remains at the highest levels of clearance for intelligence communications. Given that no one sees Hodges as anything other than an informed campaigner, supporting Ukraine and raising international awareness, your comments are ignorant in the extreme. But that’s what we’ve come to expect from the Vatniki. So don’t feel bad about your abject failure. They didn’t give you much to work with. Feel bad about the destiny of your soul instead. That’s far more imperilled than Ukraine’s future.

How can you "agree exactly" with such nonsense. Please inform yourself from other sources. What he says is just nonsense. The battlefield outcomes look almost exactly the opposite of what he says: Ukraine has lost the war, and decimated its young population. Please think of those poor Ukrainian soldiers dying in such huge numbers. Being pro-Ukrainian should mean caring for its people, who are now just dying for nothing, since Ukraine has already lost the war.

Joe can't do that because his idiotic green agenda has already kneecapped american energy system and drained the SPR. Loss of russian oil would cause oil prices to spike and doom his government. I would like Hodges to address the opportunity costs of the monies wasted on this war. With a fraction of this expenditure, Nato could have built trenches and laid minefields all along the eastern borders of NATO and acquired 20,000 artillery tubes and 100k mortar systems to make a russian incursion impossible without using nukes.

UK Storm Shadow was the shorter range version. SCALP the French name for Storm Shadow (It was a jointly developed weapon) has the longer range. More fuel in tank less payload. @stephenhall3515
@stephenhall3515 6 ай бұрын
Incorrect. France and Britain agreed to supply only the 'unitary' standard model. The elderly missiles are co-manufactured from parts bins comprising components from both countries in both countries. The British just chose a pretentious name. As Kiev has misused the missiles and broken the agreed restrictions stated by both donors the question of sending any more is moot. French stocks were low from the start and only one 'tranche' was set aside. Ben Wallace failed to consult with the British Chiefs of Staff and probably sent too many. As they can only be carried by Ukraine's S-24s and few of these planes remain it is not likely that more will be sent. Announcements that adaptations to Su-27 planes allowed carriage of the missile were misleading as welded racks failed in all tests. Had they succeeded there would have been a need for heavy fighter cover because of performance loss in all respects. In 2019 Ukraine had 30 Su-27s and by December 2022 had only 12 in working order. As a British tax payer, I could wish that they had never been sent and would definitely oppose sending any more weapons to such a corrupt and misguided regime which has no regard for the lives of Ukraine's people.

12:58 Excellent point about fatigue in the west; we're not the ones doing the fighting yet we feel like going back to business as usual; Star Bucks, muffins, Netflix, pride. The west should pray that it doesn't get to experience trench warfare because the men that qualify for that kinda "fatigue" may not show up, and they ones that are left can only do it for a short period of time before it becomes a "drag".

Yes, agree with you. I think one thing we are overlooking here, is that ukrainians are very tough, and they hate russians in THEIR country. They will go on and on to throw them out, but we in the west must ensure they get everything they need.

Always love the interviews Kate brings to us on KZfaq, and its always a pleasure to listen to Lt General Ben Hodges he talks cense, and my sentiments are the same as his as far as the west wringing there hands over what Ukraine can or not have, and all the time they dither Ukraine is dying, and a prolonged agony and a slow death so get your finger out U.S.A. and Germany.

Informative? It's misinformation!!! Almost every word is false. As for his suggestions - make Crimea untenable, etc. - are just ludicrous: there is simply no way to implement them. Ukraine has lost. Hodges should counsel Zelensky to stop struggling to prolong a lost war, and spare the few troops he still have.

This guy is a clown. Ukraine taking Crimea is a pipe dream at best. He knows that but instead of being honest he continues to lie to the public. The 4 regions that Russia annexed are gone. They arent going back to Ukraine. What Ukraine needs to do is to try to hold on to Odessa and not become a landlocked country. At this point I doubt they could even hold on to Kharkov. A peace deal would include Ukraine keeping both Kharkov and Odessa and surrendering the 4 annexed territories to Russia. It's easy for Zelensky to continue to send young men and women to die in futile attempts to attack a superior Army and take the territories back. This guy has been telling fairy tales since February 2022 , and the sad thing is that some people actually believe him. I remember 18 months ago he said on national TV that Russia had completely ran out of ammo 😂😂😂. The "Reddit Bro's" actually believed him and were telling everyone to " watch Ukraine steamroll the Russians ". Well....it looks like the other way around. Ukraine is getting literally steamrolled in Adiivka, which is the most powerful fortess that they have. The best brigades were stationed there. But now they are being decimated in large numbers and retreating. These are FACTS. The Ukrainian soliders on the ground are sending videos to their superiors and publicly refusing to follow orders to go on suicide missions. It's sad. This war is basically over. It's just a matter of how far Russia continues to push.

" we are with you as long as it take" is mere incantation. "Magical thinking", says neocon Richard Haas (you may google that and see for yourself). The war is lost, he says, incantations won't make Ukraine win.

Ukraine needs Crimea back to safeguard adequate access to shipping and the resources in and around Crimea. Ukraine should think in terms of shortening its border with Russia by ceding areas of Luhansk and Donetsk that achieve that. This would be part of a long-term strategy to create a border with Russia that can be better defended and that decouples the rail and road systems that would facilitate a future Russian invasion. The border needs to be minefields, anti-tank ditches and obstacles, concertina wire, electronic surveillance systems, and farm fields. No rail links. No paved highway links.

The situation is nothing at all like Hodges depicts it. The reality is that Ukraine has lost the war. Those poor soldiers are dying for nothing: they keep at it just because the US orders them to go on. Hodges is simply depicting what he'd like to see happen, not what is actually happening.
