Tarja Turunen performing Bizet's "Carmen" together with the Choir and Orchestra of State Opera from Plovdiv. Location: Roman amphitheatre in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Choir conducted by Vesela Geleva and Orchestra by conductor Levon Manukyan.

On a scale from 1 to 10 (considered to be a Maria Callas performance in Covent Garden in 1962) I think this is well above 9. Which is incredible by any standard you can think of.

Good God, her impeccable singing is a standard but her ACTING, her entire body and face act and harmonise with the melody, the role she portrays… A miracle singer!

HER TECHNIQUE IS BETTER EVERY YEAR. she is a model for singers, even if they don`t sing opera. not the phrasing and roundness of opera singers, but this is very good!! She can sing everything and enchant!

Es un aria, dentro de una ópera y aunque comparto profundamente el sentir de los comentarios del tema de los aplausos, y personalmente en una ópera espero un silencio sepulcral, ME MARAVILLA esta interpretación y su autora; es fascinante cómo te involucra en la escena, al punto de me he sorprendido a mí misma totalmente extasiada, transportada por esa bella voz y movida a participar, es que te lleva a corearla con las palmas inevitablemente. ¡Es tan grande!(Aria: Composición musical para voz solista, que es independiente o que forma parte de una composición mayor, como una ópera)

Ella es mi cantante favorita y no sabes cuanto la admiro , gracias a ella encontre el mundo de la musica y gracias a ella soy una aprendi a cantar lirico con sus canciones y su vos , gustaria conocerla y poder hablar con ella , pero conocer a rarja en persona o poder dar con ella es como querer alcanzar una estrella del espacio :/ y cantar con ella algun dia , solo en mis sueños .

+Gonzalo Pozzo No, but he should have ben a bit more professional in how he handled it. His loss...really and truly. That just for the record is no slight to Tuomas, a great musician and writer in his own right. It all boils down to what you are willing and mature enough to deal with.

It's a common conspiracy theory, and Nightwish's songs sure don't help dismissing the theory. Not hard to believe, I have a crush on Tarja too! The fact that they still haven't made up, while both Floor and Marko have performed with Tarja, kinda hints that the wound is deep. Wounds are deepest from the people you love most.

Stergios. I am not sure what community college you got your education from, but it sounds to me like she just sang it just fine. She may not be a Trebelli or Hauk, but the song is honestly about swag. The melody is simple and text driven. Yes, she would not sing "Queen of the Night," but few do. Chill folks. Its a nice video.

Es verdad que dan rabia las palmas, pero es espectacular la sinergia, la química que genera con el auditorio, para que la coreen con palmas. Que una cantante de ópera arranque esa reacción del público, que les inspire de tal manera, que sientan la necesidad de incorporarse, es algo que no se ve todos los días.Dicho con todo el cariño, demos gracias que les dio por aplaudir y no por cantar ;-)

Do you know that the Carmen theme was used very often in different Figure skating numbers? I just thought how wonderfully it could be if someone would take Tarja's performance as music accompaniment in his number...

About the soprano/mezzosoprano thing: Tarja began her career as a mezzo, until a teacher thought this categorization was wrong for her and started to train her as a soprano. She said that herself. So she has experience in mezzosoprano repertoir. And come on, Maria Callas is considered to have sang the best interpretation of this aria. And she was a...soprano! I don't this there's reason to complain
