This is my favorite summer time shelter. Its just a cheap tarp, some rope and a mosquito net. It keeps the rain off, the bugs out, but lets a breeze in.

What an awesome summer shelter bro. I took a boy from my church on a one night stay in the woods last night to field test some of my gear and due to rain i went ahead and put up a tent. Never again will i go that route when there are so many other ways to shelter. Thanks again for the videos, and i am looking forward to the rest of them.

Cool, Im glad you picked up a neat trick. I was taught that trick by a friend that used bungee cords for everything. He spent alot of time in the swamps so he pretty much attached everything to trees and just got used to it. I think he had back problems too so it really helped him. Take care and thanks for watching my friend.

I used a 10 x12 in this one if I remember right. The best thing to do with this one is get a bigger tarp and cut it down to 8x14 or 8x12 and resew the seam and add eyelets. You want it short enough to not bunch up between the trees and long enough to wrap a good roof. Thanks for watching my friend.

Machete tip -- when de-limbing a downed tree or pole, always cut from the bottom up, not the top down.. A lot faster, easier and safer, since you'll be cutting into the "weakest" part of the limb. The top part grew to support the branch against the force of gravity; the bottom part is a lot softer. Plus, you can slide the machete along the trunk so that the edge is automatically guided into the place you want to cut. Following Hurricane Frederic in 1979, my father-in-law and I held a few friendly de-limbing contests on downed trees -- pine and oak trees no more than about 14 inches in diameter at the base. He used his short-bar chain saw and I used my WWII-surplus machete. He always cut limbs from the top down while i cut them from the bottom up. I beat him each and every time.
@Reallybigmonkey15 жыл бұрын
I knew that from axemanship but honestly never noticed a difference with a machete. I need to pay attention to that. Very cool you beat a chainsaw!
