Vlw, Sonicpaker I'm on vacation from school and I'm loving your videos of TAS competition I'm also using google translator and I'm doing Super Mario 64 speedruns, but I also wanted to say that I finally have a keyboard and I'm going to play electronic music for you and I'm doing classes to improve on the keyboard and then agent conversation. There is only one thing more how many hours is there in Rio de Janeiro this 18:14 that I am sending this comment blz sorry for this comment, but I wanted to tell you these things ok
@sonicpacker5 жыл бұрын
Much love, man! Good luck with your classes and speedruns

More and more BLJs. But hey, they finished in exact frames. I want to start TASing. Might start off with Mario Kart first (haha, I have one with infinite speed cheat enabled, and it's so _poorly_ optimized, but not too shabby for my first right?)

Do the super mario TAS community learn from each other from different uploads (on youtube and other platforms) or do you share knowledge on discord ect?
@sonicpacker5 жыл бұрын
Both. Before Discord, people used the now defunct website, sm64.org/forum
@mauritz39125 жыл бұрын
It seems like you (all) have so much knowledge, and its not like it exists some textbook you can look this stuff up. Impressive!
@sonicpacker5 жыл бұрын
You can find some descriptions of certain tricks in the author submission comments for the 1 key/past 0 star runs on TASVideos. There also used to be a wiki with lots of trick pages hosted by sm64.org, which was pretty useful for new players when it was up

Why do TAS speedrunner press start while doing the blj's?
@sonicpacker5 жыл бұрын
It's a trick that let's you press A on every movement frame instead of every other movement frame like without the pausing technique. It's known as a P-BLJ

Hey, Sonicpacker. A few comments down I saw someone asking you, when you've started to speedrun. I want to do TASes too, but I can't find any good websites, videos or explanations in general to help me, so I wanted to ask you... What I want/need is an emulator, that can use multiple savestates, as well as frame-advance and precise button-inputs (like the one you've shown in your "Introduction to TAS"-video), and how to use these all. The emulator should mainly emulate N64 games/SM64, but an emulator for PC-games (with mouse-support) would be nice too. It could just be me being dumb or don't wanting to read every single word at speedrun.com... I hope I'll get an answer soon. TripleEss

SpySoldierScout okay, i ll describe my situaton for reference. I m a begginer tas-er and from what i learned learning how to TAS is very similar to learning how to redstone in MC. You have heard about it and you are interested. You found one very nice vid suming it up, so you are getting prepared. But you are stuck and you dont know what to do. There is a lot of ready builds on every site, but very little worthy actual tutorials. From what i learned up to this point most important is to 1. Create goals - this is the most important, because it is the only real way to gain experience - to do sth. You can create your own goals or just follow the others goals (some good goals come from TAS competitions) 2. Have a LOT of patience. And... and I still have to discover more, but hey, I m only begginer who is sharing his situation

Your best bet for finding emulators is on TASVideos website. Tutorials are hard to come by, you sort of have to just start trying it. If you mean tutorials on how to use the emulators themselves, you can generally find basic ones on KZfaq by searching something like this for example for N64: "Mupen64 TAS Tutorial"
@spysoldierscout45625 жыл бұрын
KaMa2 A few things: I've seen a lot of TAS-videos, even a few explaining it. I'm a huge fan of Pannenkoek. I also got lots of goals. I know what I'll be TASing, and I have the patience for that...
@spysoldierscout45625 жыл бұрын
sonicpacker Whoops, meant TASVideos.org... Yes, I mean tutorials for using the emulators, although tutorials for SM64-tricks wouldn't be bad. I'll try that search right now! Thanks, man.
