Not just Shy Guys and Bob-Ombs stuck around, so did Pokeys and Snifits (and Ninjis though I haven't seen them anywhere other than Paper Mario and Bowser's castle in Super Mario World). Glad the Shy Guys did since they're one of my favorites!

In Mario Kart 64, Toad always says "I'm the best!" But as we all know, actions speak louder than words, so here's Toad in SMB2, actually being the best. ^^ 1:50: "You need a key to enter this door! The key is held by a Phanto, who will chase you relentlessly once you pick it..." Toad: "lol nope"

Heh did you know that in Japan this game was originally called ume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic and they just swapped names and sprites out with Super Mario Bros when they released it in America? The real Super Mario Bros 2 is only part of the Lost Levels in America

It's still Super Mario Bros. 2, and Im sorry but its WAY more fun than the lost levels which is just the first Super Mario Bros but frustratingly difficult to the point its not very fun. And this Super Mario Bros 2 also introduced several characters into Mario's world that stuck around such as Shy Guys, Bob-Ombs, Pokeys and Snifits

by jumping super close to an enemy the game thinks your running on the enemy and you can therefore jump again

just before activating the ladder spawn in the area before, he went so far to the block beside that the game thinks he activated the spawm point from a diferent block, so he spawn in the right of the ladder, if this makes any sense lol also in 9:15

Like this 0:19? It’s to grab items twice. If you press B on the right frame as you exit the door, you are able to grab an item but the game thinks you don’t have one. Since the game doesn’t think you have one, you can enter a door, or pick up a second item hence what is done in 0:19.

No, this is Doki Doki Panic! reskinned, actual Mario 2 was released as "Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels"

Original Super Mario Bros. 2 (now known as Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels) weren’t released in North America due to it being “hard”. So they instead released a re-done version of Doki Doki Panic, but Mario Bros Style. They changed stuff in the game such as title, bonus screen to give off a Mario vibe.

DrewPicklesTheDark according to the commentary, mario’s vertical speed is the fastest out of all characters. That’s why he’s used in that level.

You do know that a lot of speedruns use glitching to beat the game in the fastest time possible, right? THAT'S LITERALLY ONE OF THE MANY THINGS YOU SEE IN SPEEDRUNS.
