This is a tool-assisted speedrun (TAS) of Super Metroid in 41:10 (by RTA timing) by WildAnaconda69. TASing was something that I wanted to try my hand at just as something to have fun with. The idea for a no damage run was something I got after doing an RTA attempt of no damage, in addition to not finding any other TAS of good quality out there of this category. Mainly, I wanted to make it to have fun doing it, but also to make it for the wonderful speedrunning community of Super Metroid. I streamed the entire process on my twitch account which I will list below, and had lots of input and support from all of my fantastic viewers. Special recognition to Taco, Sniq, EternisedDragon, and Total for their expertise and going above and beyond by offering more than their fair share of knowledge and service.
This is a no damage TAS, this means that Samus' energy will never decrease throughout the entire duration of the run, with the exception of during the Mother Brain fight, specifically the second phase where she hits you with a scripted beam that you cannot dodge. Technically it is possible to skip this, however it requires the use of some major glitches, and I wanted to keep my run a no major glitch run. Areas of the TAS where Samus gains invulnerability frames, or takes knockback where she normally would have been inflicted damage, in these instances she is taking 0 damage, so it is allowed for the TAS. No shinesparks are allowed.
There are some blatant errors and areas of the TAS where there could easily be some time saved, some of which was dude to lack of effort I will admit, but most was either due to past ignorance, such as not knowing that there was a faster way to do something, and in addition, not realizing that I had made a mistake until later on. Keep in mind this is my first TAS that I have ever created, and that it is not supposed to be highly optimized, although I did make a solid effort to make it decently optimized. I am not submitting it to tasvideos.org for this reason, among others.
This TAS I wanted to keep as much my own as I possibly could, so I did not copy any inputs from any other existing TAS while making this one. Most of the strategies and room movement are my own, and similarities between mine and other TAS' are either coincidence, or a strategy that I recreated from memory. The only exception would be the Metroid skip, where I had copious amounts of help and was guided through it. Aside from that, this TAS is entirely the blood, sweat, and tears of my own two hands, and the support and suggestions of my incredible viewers.
