You should try Durian from Thailand. Choose those with medium texture, not 100% ripe (around 60%-70%). Harder outside and soft inside. Much less smell and you will love it Nick😅 Hope I might change your mind😋

Tbh I’d recommend travel to Thailand or Malaysia and get a local to show you around. Lots of exported durian tend to become off interms of taste and develop a weird taste (could become sour, pungent or just straight up garbage) when frozen (they freeze during international shipping) or left on the shelf for long periods of time. Plus we have loads of variety with different types of flavour

Frozen durian tbh sometimes good sometimes not, but it's not recommended as it will make your fridge smell like rotten egg, i will choose to eat the right up after open it lol

Don't give up on durian yet, Nick. There is a reason why it's dubbed as'The King of fruit'. Aside from the exorbitant price, it tastes like none other fruit. I found some people who hated it at first taste, grown to love it over time.

I’m French and I’m literally in love with Durian, it’s weird but I like the smell, it’s very unique and the first time I tasted it I wanted to puke but after few tries I ended up being addicted. I miss it soo much !!!

It's an acquired taste. As someone who grew up eating durian myself, it is my comfort dessert. Eat it with sparkling water during hot seasons and it's heaven as hell. Also not all durians taste the same. Some are sweeter and bitter than others. Depending on the durians that you eat. In Malaysia we have what we called "Musang King" which is probably the most expensive durians due to its savory and sweet flavor.

Yep, its not that bad actually... Its Just a preferrence, for some People its smelly, maybe because they were not used to it and Durian Fruit is Sub-Tropic endemic fruit. Thats make it feels "smelly". But the taste is not that bad, garlic? Wtf lol

There's gas and strong smell that'll turn away first timers. Then when you get used to its smell that's where you can taste the sweet, tangy, slightly bitter taste of it. So like most smelly fruits, you need to get past the smells before you can objectively taste its taste.

As a Malaysian where durians are common and native here, it's definitely an acquired taste! It's very much polarizing and a bit like pineapples on pizza in that regard. I absolutely love it though and I think it's very fragrant
