I have also had a long correspondence with a person who uses the name ManSon Rising who was there and witnessed things on the Ranch and left a bloody footprint at Cielo who was with Manson when they came across the killing of Shorty Shea (I, of course, know their real name). Check the police reports to see if what I claim is verified, the footprint is not identified. I am proud to say I am one of Charlie's, Dead Riders, I was accepted by many directly involved and indirectly and had a short correspondence with Red. I think I know just a little more than you but feel free to impress the hell out of me. The murders were all about a drug burn and for love of brother and if you do not understand this last sentence it shows how little you really know.

Some people have commented that Sharon has been given more attention than the other victims because of her unusual beauty and her being a movie star. I think another possible reason for her getting the most attention could be that she was pregnant and almost ready to give birth. Because of her pregnancy, many people consider her murder extra horrifying.

Spot on for me honestly. Growing up I never knew or thought much about the murders, until I randomly looked up Sharon's wikipedia page and was shocked to find out how young she was and even more shocked to know that she was about to have a baby. It has stayed with me ever since and I think about it quite often.

I was 17 yrs. old and going into my senior year of high school when all the tragedies took place. Never had any crime had such an impact on my life. It was the end of the sixties for me, time to grow up and face the reality that all the freedom we had like going out and leaving our house and cars unlocked, walking down the streets in our bathing suits to go to the candy store had come to an abrupt end. Everyone was looking over their shoulders not knowing when or where this kind of evil would strike again! This podcast was the most thorough and researched account of those events that I have ever watched or read. Also this was respectful to all the victims and their families! Well done!

It’s amazing how the apparently simplest decisions can be life or death decisions. Something as simple as declining to spend the night somewhere, or declining to go for a ride, or deciding to visit someone to sell them a radio determined if some individuals lived or died on that night. Such is the frailty of life.

When they write about this Steven is often forgotten and Paul is almost always forgotten. I often wonder where each of these victims would be 52 years later. I asked her well how long have you lived here and she had only lived on Cielo Drive a couple of years (after the murders) and she said she was sick and tired of people coming up this drive to see the place. I went to the La Bianca’s that same day and they took the address down and put up new numbers, but you could still see it as they had not painted the outside yet. Both of these places are totally different than they once were. The Cielo drive had the best view of the city below.

I've subscribed also. Not to watch horror stories like this. It truly baffles me why people kill others even if one grew up in abusive homes; I know since that's how I grew up. In constant uncertainty, fear for your life, viciously beaten, raped by father, starved, or made to eat food thatI don't think that would pigs, emotional, psychological, sexual, and physical abuse(almost every day) was the norm...like living in constant warfare as a very young child until I left and married a man who was essentially both of my parents in one. I don't understand the killing, beatings that people do to others 😕 😞; it's truly sad and disturbing. So for manson to imply that a rough childhood drove him to this is a sh*tt* lame, cowardly excuse for revenge and incompetence and lazy feeling privileged that others owe him for his alledged pain. GROW THE HECK UP manson. Take care to all. Stay safe, and God bless you all. Thank you for reading me. From Canada 🇨🇦 ❤

You talked about Steven Parent in such a way that it brought out the remnants of his spirit energy. I’ve been reading about this since I was 11 and I’m 49, now. Parent has always been eclipsed by the dying of Sharon’s light and that should show us all how powerful an individual woman can be. The scene of his family crawling into bed together in order to heal the pain of his loss... the physical manifestation of linking the chain of being after being violently torn apart.. that’s a scar that I know my family has endured, being indigenous. The way each and every one of these people died was just beyond terrible. This podcast has been the best so far in covering all the details of this terrible crime and treating everyone with the upmost respect while telling the story. I'm so glad that Steven Parent got to be mentioned in this podcast far more than he ever has been in the past. I can't even imagine what these poor people went through in their final moments. It's just too horrible to think about. I hope all of them are living in eternal peace. Thank you so much for a brilliant podcast.

I typically don’t like most of the modern podcast-style coverage of this story, but you did very well! I just subscribed. Today marks the anniversary of the LaBianca murders… I always revisit this story every August 9th-10th. This all happened 10 years before I was born but doesn’t seem so long ago. These were amongst some of the most senseless and brutal murders I’ve ever studied. For those who haven’t yet read the book ‘Helter Skelter,’ I highly recommend it. Thank you for covering this story. My heart goes out to all who lost their lives so horrifically, that includes Sharon’s unborn son who was full-term, fully developed and could have been born any day at that point. To think about that poor unborn baby who died likely as a result of his oxygen being cut-off upon Sharon’s death, is absolutely heartbreaking. 🌹

Hadn't heard about Vargas speaking to Garretson. Great stuff! It still puzzles me why Rudolf Weber, who threatened to call police, knew their license plate number, and would have heard about the murders the next day, didn't in fact call police to report four strangers washing themselves off with his garden hose in the middle of the night. In Weber's police interview, he stated that the people he and his wife encountered in front of their home that night "looked like teenagers out on a Friday night." He said it never occurred to him to connect them with the vicious murders which had taken place in the home of Hollywood celebrities. He was more concerned with any mischief these 4 may have been up to right there on HIS street, Portola Dr. Weber told police there was a vacant house or houses on his street which had been attracting "hippie-type people" who would break in and party and create problems for neighbors. That's why he wrote down their license plate number --- in case there had been any signs of criminal activity at that vacant house --- he could turn in the 4 teens. But when he didn't notice any trouble on Portola, he forgot about the incident.

I've always been impressed with Jay's courage, defending Sharon with his life. Smh. She was only with Roman because he could further her career. There's an interview with Roman where he says that. It's why she didn't complain when he went out with other women. He was hooked up with her so that if his directing career failed, he'd be supported by a star. They called it a win-win situation. But if she'd stayed with Jay, she'd be alive. Maybe she was going to use Roman for as much as she could get then go back to Jay? Maybe that's why he was always with her and Roman didn't care? I also sometimes wonder if Roman didn't make a deal with the devil to make Rosemary's baby a success and he offered up his first born son in the deal? I know that sounds crazy but I've always wondered about it.

This is great, thank you soo much and talking more about Steven Parent! We lived on the same street, Bryant Rd in El Monte where I grew up (72-81) ~ Rest in Peace to all❣🕊💋 It still blows my mind how the caretaker and his dog did not hear all the gun shots and screaming that nite 😢 (Juz found out today that my grandfather actually knew Steve!!)

Yes thank you for your time. Wow you lived on Bryant. That street definitely has some history between Steven and Jean Ellroy. Please Subscribe. Thanks!

Juz noticed the license plate at the end on Abigail's car and the numbers, ZLR 694...the year that four dear friends were butchered together😢 Thanx for visiting their graves and your tremendous respect, very touching👏

Hi, new to the channel I really enjoy your score and narration revisiting the the final hours. Thanks for your work. Oh I think Debra Tate was 16, her birthday a few weeks away. Debra said in many interviews she was supposed to been there that night.

@DR729er Hi. Thank you for joining. Yeah unfortunately I made a couple of errors and Debra's age was one of them. Thank you. In case you haven't seen the interview with Dennis Hearst, the bike delivery boy who delivered Abigail Folger's bike to the house that day, here it is. It is in 4 parts. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g7uneathz5i-hGg.html
