As a fighting game exclusive to the Wii with half the character roster being virtually unknown outside of Japan, Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars should've been a failure, but it actually sold better than expected for it's fun mechanics, awesome soundtrack, great art style and striking presentation. Over a decade after its launch, I decided to return to the game and remember why its so beloved within the hardcore fighting game scene!

I'm actually surprised it sold well. I had always heard or assumed it sold terribly despite the fact that I and my friend bought it with the exclusive Wii fightstick.

I'm delighted to see one of the games I wanted for you to cover happened to be on your to-do list. I adore Tatsunoko vs Capcom and will even claim it as the best of the Capcom Vs games. Though maybe there is a bit of bias here as a huge Wii fan. 0:43 - Not hype inducing, but I did learn about Tatsunoko as a result of this. 4:06 - Being able to have a active role as you are being struck by a combo, rather than simply waiting for it to end, is something I hugely appreciate. Whilst it is impressive a player pulls off a massive juggling combo, it is rather dull to be on the receiving end with no escape options. 6:03 - Nice to see this bit of trivia pop up. Your videos are great for cramming so much well researched info in a short amount of time whilst being entertaining. 8:18 - Ironically, my main team was Karas and Roll (with Tekkaman and Saki as my secondary). 11:38 - I'm pleased to hear this game did have a measure of success. I was also under the impression that it under-performed so I'm glad to be proved wrong and that so many folks got to enjoy this game and continue to enjoy this game.

good thing youtube reccomend me this video. I love Tatsunoko vs Capom! I remember how it was highly demanded to have a western release and Capcom had to do a lot in order to come to america and europe. Speed Rancer, Hakushon Daimao and Samurai Pizza Cats weren´t in the game due to licensing issues. Till this day I just love Doronjo´s moveset and Yatterman franchise overall thank to the game.

I basically gone through a entire year searching about Tatsunoko and even watching their best stuff. Because I made a good friend that was more of a Mecha Fan than I am, and what united us Both is this more old school anime themed Capcom vs game that I barely played in the past but was of my interest, having in my that my favorite fighting games are MVC2 AND 3 and usually SMASH. It was an excelent year, and I am really greatful to this game, the friendships, the discovery, the combos, everything.

Daimao was actually available in the first Wii release in Japan, which went by Cross-Generation of Heroes. That version didn’t have online. Only Ultimate All-Stars (which was actually the second Wii release in Japan) had online, and by that time, Daimao was dummied out of the game in all regions.

Thank you for making this video of my favorite fighting game till this day. I was on the leaderboards when the game servers were still up and I can tell ya it was god awful, we’re talking half a second if not an entire second of delay. Not to mention the disconnect some players did, which counted as a loss for both players 😅 But Dolphin Emulator’s netcode is so much better. Thanks for shouting out our Discord Server as well. We are still very much active. The Discord server are always welcoming to new players and would love to show you the ropes and teach you the basic mechanics and advance game breaking tech. We will be having another tournament at Frosty Faustings 2024 in January so be sure to look out for that. Thanks again for making this video.

I got this game just for the gatchaman characters, which were an absolute favorite of mine as a child, it turned out to be an amazing fighter, in my opinion the best of the generation, but as a caveat I prefer all of my games to be more arcade-y and splashy, rather than realistic, so for example my favorite racing game is Cruisin'

Ok, good review, but there's a few things you should maybe take a look at... 1st) Hakushon Daimao was in the original home release in Japan, but the game was called TvC: Cross generation heroes. The international release is like UMvC3 to Vanilla MvC3.
@MrGonz801
@MrGonz801 Жыл бұрын
2nd) Roll plays differently in this game compared to all her previous fighting game incarnations and in this game is constantly used by people in top 8 of big tournaments
@MrGonz801
@MrGonz801 Жыл бұрын
3rd) this isn't a slight on you or anything, but a big part of the reason people don't realise who the Tatsunoko characters are is because of localisation. For instance: Gatchaman was "G-Force" The Genie family was "Bob in a Bottle" Tekkaman Blade was "Technoman" I'll admit that not all Tatsunoko productions anime got localised, but the ones that did had different names most of the time. Even Samurai Pizza cats falls under this umbrella, but tbh that's more abridged than dubbed

Another awesome video dude. I can see your editing improving! This game has a certain vibe I’ve always gravitated towards, and some of the music like “Orbital Ring Systems Cargo Bay” and the main theme has this nostalgic 2000’s feeling I love. Would you say Marvel vs. Capcom 3 took a lot from this game with its similar control scheme and gameplay, or are they actually really different?
@khanage1344
@khanage1344 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for noticing the improved editing! Regarding Marvel vs Capcom 3, that game feels different to TVC, imo. Marvel 3 is a bit faster and lighter, with characters having different movement options as opposed to TVC where everyone can air dash for example. It feels a lot different due to the launcher button and 2 assists being a thing in Marvel 3. Tatsunoko vs Capcom, oddly enough, reminds me of Marvel vs Capcom 1 the most!

I agree, more people should play this game. I got lucky and found this game at a walmart for 10 bucks in like 2016, but dont think its always that way. Hell i found kof11 the same year for 6 bucks. Sometimes gems pop up at big stores, i got castlevania bloodlines for sega for like 4 bucks in the year 2006, paper mario in the year 2007 for 15 bucks. Always look for late heavy hitters in major stores because what happens is they get a big stock and it gets lost out back, and when they find them they sell them cheap. I found a copy of muramasa the demon blade for the will in the year 2019. I didnt get it because i has it, it was 9.99 then look that game up now used, i would guess it has tripled used

You totally undermined Roll and Alex by including her along-side others like Ryu and Chun. Sure while Alex uses a lot of the attacks seen in Third Strike, the environment he's in makes his attacks behave differently than what we're used to seeing on him. That and he can suplex giants. Roll has a dynamically different playstyle, she got reworked with the broom and bucket making her a disjointed character. Not unlike her stubby attacks from MVC2

The only thing I didn't like about this game was that they had too many Supers that had a vehicle running over the oppenent. Other than that the moves are sick. In hindsight the 2 vs 2 style is much better than 3 vs 3. Less chaotic.

I’m pretty sure it is in the JP version, actually. That version had minigames for each individual character, and I’m pretty sure what would later be expanded into Ultimate All-Shooters was PTX-40A’s minigame.
