As a tattoo artist all of these things are reasons I don't often get tattooed anymore. I know too much about how to be sanitary and most people dont care. Which is sad.

A little late, but anyway: once I went to visit a tattoo artist that had tattooed me before. I was in the shop, waiting for him to come out into the reception so we could talk about our next project. He stopped in the middle of a work, he came out still wearing his gloves, and when he started to move around my forearm, pointing out some areas and explaining his ideas...he left a trace of fresh inky blood in my skin. Yeah, pretty nasty

great video , like you said nowdays its more important to look cool and one thing iwe notice is that when the tattoo is finished they go straight for the cellphone for pictures , viping the tattoo and then trying to hold the phone where they think it was no contact with the skin with the same glove . and this is from fancy tattoo artists on the youtube that charge 2k per sessions , one can think that if you charge that much you would have afford to bring out a fresh pair of gloves for the photo . agree aswell with the grip tape , that thing protects nothing . if someone uses a pen i would not even get a tattoo from that person becuse many artist just takes some alcohol and vipe the inside off , its crazy how all these sponsored artists on different channels around the youtube makes these mistakes right infront of a camera live - dont know if they respect themself or there customers at all doing that

Quick tip.... latex gloves bubble and start to deteriorate with petroleum based products so always go for nitrile glove although not as stretchy they are a much safer contamination barrier

It‘s so sad but it’s true. I am a Tattoo artist myself and seen crazy things out there. Like the tattoo colours thing is so bad. Or the phone. A tattoo artist should never touch anything without removing the dirty gloves. Nothing ! How can it be.. seriously i‘ve seen really great experienced tattoo artists doing this short of mistakes. It’s tragic and sad. Clients should also be more strikt when it comes to this. Please be careful when you are getting a tattoo!

I notified the artist who did one of my tattoos he should change his gloves after he had touched something. He didn't seem to care and wasn't receptive. He'd already started on me, I was already in the chair. It's a lot of social pressure to just sit and deal with it instead of walk away. I was extremely uncomfortable the whole time and haven't dared to get any more ink in almost ten years because of it despite wanting lots more. This was an expensive well respected studio in a capital city in North Europe.

@billmartins5545
@billmartins5545 2 жыл бұрын
This is so important. The guy who did my last tattoo wore a fabric apron that was clearly not disposable. He touched it with his gloved hands and then touched my body that he was tattooing, this happened regularly. I told him to change gloves once but he just didn't get it. The person who did my first tattoo had her long hair untied and she touched her hair with her gloved hand whilst she was working on me... This has completely put me off getting more ink despite having a folder with a couple of pieces I'd immediately get if I found an artist who knows how cross contamination can be prevented/reduced to as close to 0 as possible.

Hello there! May I know what’s your take in tattoo shops that practices only a 70% solution alcohol for cleaning the tattoo equipment? Especially when it comes to rotary machines and pen types. And yes, I agree with the grip tape that only acts as a grip and not a barrier. I use a cling wrap and clip chord barrier to protect my adjustable grip
@TattooShopTalk
@TattooShopTalk 5 жыл бұрын
In my opinion alcohol is good for cleaning and details greasing skin... and for drinking. Sometimes it helps to scrub off some inks or stencil. As for equipment and surface cleaning there are specific products and you should use them.
@JaizeDee
@JaizeDee 5 жыл бұрын
I see. The shop I apprenticed in uses 70% alcohol for cleaning tattoo equipment after work. Reading more and more from outside sources and of course, the autoclave made me skeptic about it. I'll do more research. The master I had has really good cleaning and sanitation practice and I met him when he is already using disposable grips and tips, so I never really got to know how he cleans a now "old school" way. Thank you so much for your videos!

Thank you for the vid. I always disinfect my gloves, throughout the whole process of tattooing and when I touch certain things... but also change them if necessary. Also I desinfect f.e. the ink bottle, which I use, before I start tattooing, so it is clean as well. Is that a way, how one can do it properly? :)

Keep in mind that lifespan of a glove is not too long. As for opening ink bottles common practice is to use paper towel to open it while still wearing fresh gloves.
