I don't think there's a world where great worm is worth the red splash over something like Titania's Command Also I really recommend Final Meditation in this list. It usually wins the game on the spot with some land tokens out!

I think he's splashing red for removal, with the Wurm being an upside of doing so.

I guess the splash is more for the red removal, which feels necessary with how bad this deck is against aggro agreed that titania's command seems amazing in this list

@@sephirothrr Fair enough 😅 I just wish there was perhaps one more reason to splash red than just removal, because Wurm certainly isn't it. And if it really is just for removal, we could easily splash black instead for removal like Tear Asunder and Cut Down. Though Fires of Victory might be nice if we stay red. I think Dire Street Rampage could be nice in some number, too Too bad burn down the house / firewave is a bit of a nonbo in this list, those cards are amazing in this meta

Less of a combo centric list I've been running with success without a third color. Its more tuned to beat up on Black X Midrange lists and reanimator than aggro: 3 Bushwack 4 2cmc 1/3 land hasty ramp dude 1 Rootcreeper ramp thing 1 Shigeki 2 Explore kicker spell 4 Ramp Dino (insane with bushwack) 3 Tatyova 2 Memory Deliuge 2 4 cmc Dominaria Ramp sorcery 1 Wren and Seven 2 Titanias Command 4 Awaken the Woods 3 Portal to Phyrexia 3 Final Meditation 24-25 Lands depending on if you want another Bushwack or Shigeki in the main

It turns out that an X spell that gives you a ton of lands is pretty good, even if those lands are 1/1s. Who knew? Calling this Standard Valakut makes me want to see someone combo off with Awaken the Woods + Mind Bend + Valakut in Modern.

Probably Dryad of the Elysian Grove/Prismatic Omen is just better than Mind bend, at which point you're basically playing the scapeshift deck anyway

17:04 Seth, please. At least half of the counterspells in Standard are soft permission kind. You can play around those ones by just playing your X spells like Awaken the Woods or Silver Scrutiny for 2 less mana -- then if they have Slip out the Back or Spell Pierce, they have to 2 for 1 you to get them. xD

This is Seth better known as saffronolive, not a competitive magic player. It is more on brand for him to complain about a tempo U deck playing counterspell than to see him play a tight game around counterspells

One more Combo Piece to consider is *Boseiju Reaches Skyward* ; P/T = # of land can get SILLY w/ all the Dryads. One *Wedding Invitation* later from Big B and an One-Shot Kill is super-possible!

In the mono blue match the graveyard hate is actually very good. A repetitive graveyard hate can keep the djinn in check and make the serpent expensive.

Guy in match one actually had the game if he bounced tatyova which would've let him block 3 things and survive at 1 life. Reading the card explains the card

Hey, i think you might want to try Awaken the Woods with alliance and landfall. Say, Devilish Valet and/or Witty Roastmaster with Felidar Retreat or Scute Swarm.

Petition to see Seth play awaken the woods into explosive singularity!!!! (Bonus points if he can use progress tyrant to double the 10 damage to the face) Seth! Please make sure that if you do try this out play four copies of an offer you can't refuse. Counter target non creature spells it's controller makes two treasure....this makes sure that the opponent can't counter your singularity.....

From the future, and using Tatyova + Awaken the Woods still slaps. Especially now with Blossoming Tortoise for +1/+1 and ramp. I’m also running The Goose Mother, because an x power flyer that makes food and draws cards is fun to use

See this is why I'm thinking of just making my Black Friday sales at my LGS consist of Awaken the Woods and Portal. 20% off of both makes them crazy affordable and there's just so many fun busted Landfall combos with Awaken the woods.

That match up against mono blue shows just how oppressively powerful Wizards has made blue. There is no reason to ever play anything on their own turn and they have near infinite flash threats.

I think this deck would be better off purely UG, playing some cheap blue interaction over the cheap red interaction and cutting the refractor/wurm package altogether. Would make the mana much smoother, too.

I was wondering about hulkurts meditation (consuming tide too!) with awaken the woods since lands don't get bounced. What about splash white for king Darien token protection. Triskedeckaphile 4 mana card draw on power stone. Only need an island. Cultivator colossus feels good too. Maybe devilish valet and goro if splashing red. Also voldarian mindsinger matches that color identity.

Match 1 opponent lost because they bounced a random land instead of the thing giving them all evasion. They could've blocked 3 3/3s going to 1 and leaving them with a 10/10 Kraken you can't tap, the 4/4 Caretaker, and a 3/3 Fish. Not to mention the counters from Fight Rigging and Caretaker.

I’ve been messing around with a Pioneer deck that uses Awaken with Scute Swarm. It’s fun when it works but I don’t think it’s strong.

@@dementievatz yeah. I guess you can also use Titania and Argoth as well. This deck needs more than one plan in motion to run more smoothly. Instead of just trying to combo like crazy, have the combo as an incidental WinCon and with another synergies might be nice

The person didn't rope, said GG at the end when they lost; I don't see the problem. Even if you hate that style of deck idk why you'd hate the person playing it. People enjoy different styles of decks and that's fine.

I don't mind people that play counterspells in order to be able to execute their game plan or to protect their game plan but I do not like the decks that have a sole design of preventing the opponent from doing anything. If that is what you want then go play solitaire.

I think it's dolphin logic. Unlike the exposed nipples of humans and our closer kin, the mammary glands of dolphins and porpoises are concealed inside of abdominal slits. The mother squirts the milk into the calf's mouth to account for the difficulty of underwater suckling.

that thumbnail is a little questionable, isn't it? Her spots on her chest are supposed to trace the pectoral muscle, but they've been drawn much lower and on each side there's one larger spot riiiiiight in the lower center, not quite where a nipple would be but close enough that I keep seeing it out of the corner of my eye. Y'all might wanna redraw that so the spots look more like they do on the card

For all the weird seth pronunciations, he says Tatyova perfectly fine. I personally put a stronger "ah" in "Tat", but that's the correct way to say the character's name, "tat-YOH-vah"

@@BrandonAdams1010 Don't quite like those decks currently either with how many people just stack five different murders and play basically the same style. Though, at least with those matches you can resolve spells, adding further counterplay if you can give a creature hexproof or indestructable.. Or just blasting seventy damage at their face.

@@ohno5559 They lost due to the inability to put enough pressure on him to win. Their play each turn was, 'let's counter this that and everything'. That's not skill, at all. Deciding which of your ten counters to throw out doesn't take any brainpower whatsoever. Nor does building a deck like that, which is the more infuriating part. Is it so wrong to want to play inventive opponents, over completely braindead copy and paste decks with absolutely zero depth?

But this isn't standard though. This is Arena Standard. With cards they change on the fly. Standard has been dead for years.

Standard on paper and on Arena are the same, aside from starter cards that no one plays competitively. It's Alchemy that has the changes, and that's not being played in these videos.

Arena Standard and paper Standard are the same, but Arena does have Alchemy (which is the weird, sort-of Standard format with digital only cards).
