awesome play by both. people always focus on taufik's backhand and racket skills, which he for sure had, but what's more prominent to me is his tactical acuity. not outwardly the same style as lin dan, but the same idea of winning through the art of control. what you see with lcw is not primarily tactics, but more of a pure athleticism and perfection of form, his precise grip on the floor and the way energy flows smoothly upwards from his legs until it meets the shuttle, the time he spends airborne, and his sheer quantum of energy output

That year, it wasn't his prime. He won it but the speed, the stamina, the technique of handling shots were declining. That year he started to lose important games frequently despite his Asian Games Individual triumph. 2007 and 2008 he even knocked out at the first round of both World Champ. & Olympic. Always love him as one of the greatest men's single players of all time. Should've been mantained his glory days a little longer honestly, so we could probably witnessed a triangle rivalries between him, Lin Dan and Datuk Lee Chong Wei. That could've been insane to watch.

Sebab tidak diangkat dalam hall of fame , Dia hanya juara yg besar , kejohanan yg ada 2 tahun sekali 4 tahun sekali , Tapi yg setiap tahun setiap bulan punya kejohanan dia tak ada , Bahkan All england pun tidak pernah juara , inikan SS , SS ada tapi tidak sebanyak Lindan Chongwei , malah di Indonesia open Home nya sendiri pun dipecahkan rekod sama Chongwei , Taufik hanya konsisten dalam beberapa tahun .. tapi Lindan Chongwei konsisten nya seabad

Thanks for sharing. It gives those “new” badminton players/fans to know who Taufik was and how good he was. Since there are a lot of talks and comments in response to Taufik’s comments about Lee’s Hall of Fame induction. Lee was a great and talented player but so was Taufik. Lee got beaten by Lin a lot in big tournaments and got beaten by Taufik too. So Taufik’s comments have some points.

@@khairultazmantuaman5423 I like and respect them both. My point is to tell those who don’t know who Taufik is that he was very very good too. He battled against both LD and LCW. He is qualified to speak his thought. To me, all of the great 4 are well qualified to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Saya ga pernah meragukan Taufik Ketika dia bermain untuk Negara seperti Seagames, Asean games, atau Olimpiade. Pasti selalu mati-matian memberikan yang terbaik Beda cerita kalau mainnya untuk gelar individu, apalagi gelar yg sudah pernah dirasain. Kayaknya tergantung moodnya taufik deh mau menanag atau nggak.

Cuma yg agak mengecewakan adalah di Olimpiade Sidney 2000, Taufik bertanding sebagai pemain ranking 1 dunia dan unggulan 1 tapi dia kalah kalau tdk salah di 8 besar, sangat byk yg kecewa karena byk yg menganggap Taufik tdk fokus karena waktunya terganggu dgn urusan pacaran dgn artis Nola AB Three, untungnya di olimpiade Athena 2004 Taufik bisa meraih emas

Liat LCW sama Taufik Hidayat gila tensinya beda sama permainan single sekarang. Kalau zaman sekarang lebih main sabar sama mikirin stamina. Kalau dulu kayaknya staminanya lebih digerus lagi latihannya habis-habisannya. Ya akhirnya ini, dari awal game temponya udah cepet. Dan ini bener-bener ngehibur, rallynya mantep.

Keduanya itu pemain zaman peralihan sistem poin lama ke rally point. Fisiknya pasti lbh kuat. Di sistem lama aku pernah nonton 1 partai sampe 2 jam gara2 pindah bola terus.. ngantuk akhirnya haha

@@dypra1234 hanya pemain yg serve yg bisa dapet point. Untuk bisa serve harus jatuhin kok di lapang lawan dulu. Kalo ngikutin sistem lama: - karir pemain ga akan selama pemain2 skrg krn dibutuhkan fisik yg benar2 kuat - perlu skill yg tinggi untuk menang. Kalo rally point kan bisa bnyk dpt poin dari unforced error lawan. Sistem lama itu buat dapat 1 poin tidak mudah Bayangin kalau nonton Thomas Cup 1 partai ngabisin 2 jam krn sama kuat, untuk 5 partai berarti 10 jam. Makanya kalo dulu siaran TV badminton sering dipotong ga sampe beres, karena kelamaan hehe

Karena katanya penilaiannya utk prestasi dlm jangka waktu yg panjang, masa jaya Taufik kan hanya sekitar 6 tahun dari THN 2000 sampai 2006, juga katanya Taufik hanya juara di turnamen besar seperti Olympic, Kejuaraan Dunia dan Asian Games, tapi nggak pernah juara All England dan Juara Super series pun tdk sering.... penilaian yg aneh memang buat apa juara super series terus tapi zonk di Olimpiade

Diatas lapangan TH seperti menari. ada keindahan dalam gerak dan langkah kakinya.. ketika Ia dalam top perpormen akan sangat sulit bagi siapapun lawan mengalahkannya.. satu2nya sisi lemahnya adalh emosinya yg kadang sulit ia kontrol... sampai detik ini belum ada pemain Indonesia yg selevel dengan taufik setelah dia gantung raket..

Two great players and arguing over who was better seems wasted to me. Taufik was arguably, the most naturally talented player I have ever seen on a court: from his movement to his shot play (smashes, net tumbles and, of course, that absolute weapon of a backhand), I think the sport will struggle to find another player of his exceptional ability. LCW is a true fighter. His effort, speed and commitment made him a formidable opponent to everyone. Their styles were quite different but it is possible to respect both the qualities and success they each brought to the sport.

The speed of LCW is just insane,but seems he is quite unstable in 2006.

He was not unstable. He was incomplete. Taufik was complete and one class above LinDan and LCW at this time. First match 21-16 final 6 points tell you everything. When taufik pick up, it's finished. If standard equal the scores would normally be 21-19 or 22-20 no matter who was leading because pressure came from both side. LCW can't cope because he was incomplete - tactically, and hence skills (the way he trained).
