Wayne Drew I bought the Houge grip too. Does the front of the grip kinda not sit on the trigger gaurd? Is that something that I should worry about?

You won't regret buying this wheel gun. I own both a S&W 686 and a Taurus 627. Taurus makes great guns at half the price its counterparts in the US. Great revolver that delivers as a high end gun. It's a keeper for sure. Greetings from TX

@@eduardogprado Holy cow, that comment seems long ago. Well Eduardo, I left that gun shop disappointed, and found a Ruger, 4" GP100, on the used market. To this day, I still want to try a Tracker. Not wanting to be "that guy," I eventually returned to the gun shop and transfered the $100 to a S&W Airweight in .38 Special - they had never ordered the Tracker anyway. I loved both of the Ruger, and S&W, and would use them as a daily system. In Utah, public colleges allow students to carry on campus with a permit. So I had the GP in the backpack, and the Airweight on the belt. Now I am in law school, and because I'm broke, I sold every gun but my Kahr PM40, Beretta PX4 (40 S&W), and my 12-gauge Mossberg 835 - I think that's what it's called. Once I'm done with law, if there is still a U.S. Constitution, and a Republic for which it stands, I hope to buy some guns of my dreams; such as the Tracker. Man, it's funny how KZfaq holds onto old comments. Thanks for taking me down memory lane. I was still studying at the community college when I was buying those revolvers. I miss them, and they made me a better shooter. One last thing: I like Kahr trigger's because they have no wall; like striker fired guns do. The Beretta is a Type-C model, and it does not have a safety, nor a burred hammer. The PX4 trigger is DOA, and I love it because owning revolvers made me appreciate DOA more than my Glocks, Sigs, 1911's, etc. Both the Kahr and Beretta have triggers that I liken to revolvers, and that is why I prefer them. That preference all started because I committed to the Tracker. Take care my friend, I hope you find some happiness in pursuing your Tracker! If you get one, let me know your thoughts. PS. 'As if I need a PS' - The Tracker I ordered was a 6" and because my Ruger was 4" I always felt like the Tracker was an unfinished dream. Plus, it's seven rounds, right? Man, it's been a while. badbilly429 what you are describing is a timing issue. I'm pretty sure nothing but gas is exiting the ports. However, even the slightest bit out of time shreds bullet jacket from the entry into the barrel as it leaves the chamber. I had a 44 mag snubbie that did the exact same thing. Exactly as you describe. Send it in and have them time it properly and I promise this issue will go away.

They do. It’s called model 692 with interchangeable cylinder for 9mm. Still says tracker on the barrel.

the 686 is not a large frame. same size frame as ruger g-100.both med size frame.

I HAVE 4 357 MAGS FROM TAURUS , HAVE NO ISSUES. BUT THE 608 MODEL HAS A LOT OF TROUBLE. THE COMPANY HAS BEEN BOUGHT OUT BY SOME ONE .I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE NEW OWNERS FIRED MOST OF THE ENGINEERS AND MANERMENT. HOPEFULLY THE NEW OWNERS WILL HAVE A BETTER COSTUMER SERVICE. GOOD LUCK .

The Ruger gp100 8 round is the best all around revolver. My 2nd go to would be the Taurus 626 tracker because it’s a work horse that’s reliable as hell for the price. The Smith is way too pricey for the quality it puts out. Ruger go100 is fairly cheaper and performs way better with hotter loads.

@@burmiester1 I agree. The new smith's leave e a lot to be desired. I have a GP=100.blows the 686 away. I traded my 686 and my 329-PD 44 magnum. Worst POS guns I have ever owned. The ones from the 80's 686 and the 329 from 2009 were decent. but I paid $900 for the 329 and the 1st trip to the range left my ejector rod disassembled and on the range floor. Had it fixed.2nd trip to the range and after round 18 the casings swelled and I had to physically poke them out with a cleaning rod.3rd trip I had the gunsmith put on the rubber grips that come with the 329. again, around the 18-24th round the grips blew off. just came apart. I traded that POS for a Glock 20 10MM. the 686 felt cheap and shot low.4" barrel. my Taurus 627 and my Ruger GP-100 are my 2 357's. I will never own a smith again. it's all ruger for revolvers.

Yeah the 686 is a 1982 Corvette. There are tons of quality issues on s&w revolvers. From canted barrels to chambers not lining up. There are articles and videos on all of it. Plus the tracker has a ported barrell that cuts down on recoil . And a 1 inch non rilfing chamber at the end of the barrel so you can shoot hard cast ammo for woods defense. That 686 cant shoot certain rounds of hot ammo. The Tracker can. You just get so much more for less with the Tracker .

I have two Taurus revolvers and both have never been unreliable. I have this very gun and it is fun to shoot.

Johnboy 6489 I own several Taurus handguns and have hade ZERO problems from them.

True, they got a bum rap for a polymer gun they made that would crack, but their guns made of metal have no issues that I know of. I also have a PT101 in .40 cal and it is over 20 years old and still fires reliably.

Taurus produces and sales more firearms than smith and wesson , sig saur, glock, and all of the other major companies. Statistically, you are bound to hear more horror stories about them simply due to the fact that there are drastically more of them in circulation.
