I had a scare like that too a couple months ago. Same scenario, i was showering and felt a lump and like you my mind just raced. I told my parents while sobbing. It was a terrifying moment. I did get it checked out and thankfully it was nothing. But it was definitely a scary moment.

Tay I am speechless. First of all, thank you so much for sharing your first story and I am SO glad all is well for you there! I watched the second story with my hand over my mouth and tears in my eyes. I went through the same thing when I got off BC pills after 10 yrs and switched to the copper/non-hormonal IUD. I experienced a severe depressive episode and severe anxiety. You saying "I was unwell" was like it came straight from my own mouth. I thought I was having a nervous breakdown. But I also had strange new cystic body acne and new extremely oily scalp, but didnt put all the details together at the time. It lasted several months and was terrifying. My gyno didnt mention anything about expecting mood changes at my appt, no one in my life has ever mentioned it, I had literally NO idea to expect that--- and I am a nurse! It wasnt until several years later, I was reflecting back on the "winter I randomly had that nervous breakdown" and realized oh my god that was 1 month after stopping my BC, and my nurse brain kicked in and it alllllllllll clicked. Now any time BC comes up in convo with lady friends, I always share that story as a heads up/warning so that no one thinks they are as crazy as I did. You guys are the best for talking about these things!!!

okay but for real the biggest help for my anxiety is the writing out my to-dos and getting them out of my head. Having organized lists in order of importance or things you think about that you wanna do and not having it floating around where you're like "i have too many things to remember" is so helpful

You should have Eamon and Bec on your podcast!! They are KZfaqrs from Canada. They lost a very close friend to suicide (Lee Macmillan who was also an influencer) and Bec has been through breast cancer. They recently had a baby and are such a beautiful family. Bec always talks about mental health and she’s bringing back their podcast on it as well! Amazing people to host :)

I think it's also important that we don't forget that males can have breast cancer too. My husband had a health scare too like Tay. Breast cancer runs in my husband's family his mom has breast cancer. Thank goodness he got it checked out and it was nothing.

As much as I struggle with my life, I always say nothing stays the same. Things are always changing. I have faith in God and pray that He will get me through whatever is bugging me. It does help to have a good support system. Man, I wish I had a husband like Taylor to hold me when I'm going through a rough time, but unfortunately 27 years into a marriage that support is not really there (unless it is something drastic). Sometimes I don't want to live my life anymore, but one thing is for sure, I don't want to end it. Thank you for such a brilliant episode.

Loved this episode! I can 100% relate to Tay on finding lumps and withdrawing from BC. Hormones and being a woman is a crazy experience sometimes. And I appreciate the ending. A lot of good reminders and helping me get through another day ❤❤

Thank you for sharing you health scare story! I had one two years ago, in the shower as well, but in the side of my stomach. I was an absolute wreck for weeks filled with ultrasounds, they found three lumps, to then going into surgery to have them removed and waiting so impatiently to find out the diagnosis. Turns out they were completely benign lipomas, cause by a car accident I had the year prior. They'll come back the rest of my life, but never be life-threatening. Health scares take such a mental toll on you, so I appreciate you sharing! It's nice to hear someone on the younger side relate to this.

Just now getting to watch this episode. I enjoy the variety of topics you touch on. Much appreciated. Hormones are something too often overlooked that can really effect so much, between birth control, pregnancy, perimenopause which many ladies dont realize is a thing, and ofcorse menopause. So often can cause anxiety and so much more.

Many young women have fibrocystic breasts! It is dense breast tissue that can change or become harder during their cycle. It is certainly still important to get things checked out if you feel lumps or have a family history. So happy to hear it was nothing and that all is well!

Tay, I live by my lists!! Those help SO much when I am feeling anxiety and overwhelmed by having so much to do. I'm glad to hear that your scares ended up not being serious, and that you are feeling better. No one in my family has thyroid issues, so when they found nodules in my thyroid, and the biopsy couldn't tell if they were cancerous or not, I know that fear. I had to have half of it removed to find out it wasn't cancer, but that was a very scary few months of Dr. appts and tests. It's kind of funny that I was thinking, I need to make a list of people so I could send those messages to, and you challenged us to message someone. I will take that challenge. :)

In May I found a hard lump near my foreheard, did a ct scan, doc said it cannot be removed, but it's harmless, now i'm living with it as a part of my skull, but I still remember that 'feeling' when I found it,all I can think about is my 8yo daughter at that time,my husband will be okay but the idea of not be able to be there for my daughter when she grow up was making my body my soul my mind frozen but my heart was beating so fast

I have had anxiety and depression since I was in High School and it got so bad that my parents made me go to a psychiatrist and they put me on medication to help and a lot of of it in the beginning is trial and error to find the right medication but it definitely can help if you need it to help get through your day!

For me it was the actual opposite. Took birth control for over two years and suddenly went bananas. I was feeling like I was going crazy, my emotions were taking over me and I had LOTS of anxiety. One day I had a panic attack and I literally dropped them in the garbage and stopped them completely. I feel so good now. I felt poisoned. Even my gut health improved GREATLY, I had constant acid reflux while on the pill and never thought it could be related. Then I did some research and learned how damaging it is… never again!

I think the lump and the withdrawals are linked, and a HUGE sign you should not be on birth control. It gives you a synthetic cycle and can eventually lead to infertility (I’ve been there). Reproductive health should be supported by our partners and that means detox asap ♥️

Thank you for sharing your story Tay, although I’m sorry you had to go through that 🫶🏼 I’ve been wanting to go off my bc for a while as I’ve been on it for 15 years so I really don’t know how my body actually works on its own 😅 I’ve read and heard that while everyone is of course different, a lot of women experience “side effects” within 6 mos- 1 year after going off the pill There’s definitely supplements you can take, herbs you can drink as teas, and veggies to incorporate into your diet the 3 mos before going off that can help with the withdrawals! All to say that it’s a great reminder to be gentle with ourselves as we learn about our unique body functions ✨ Stay cool friends 🍋
