The Shadow was one of my favorite films from the 90's. There was something very inspiring about a man who had done truly awful things and knew he could never make up for his past deeds. Despite this he kept on trying. The song is operatic, dramatic and wonderful. Wonderful vocals by Taylor Dayne.

The og Shadow from the pulps is much better. He's an incorruptible dispenser of justice because it's needed. It's not about compensation. The emo pathos mixed with extremelly bad jokes he has in the movie is entirely antithetical to what the Shadow's supposed to be.

A great cover of the Jim Steinman (singer & song writer) track "Original Sin", that was on the Pandora's Box (all female band) debut album. Such a strong operatic song that Taylor has pulled off excellently with her superb voice. When I had first heard Anastacia' first single, it just opened the floodgates of memories of Taylor' first singles, with that similar vocal style of Dayne' 1980s-90s pop career. I have loved Taylor Dayne' deep soulful vocal ever since I first heard her debut tracks, that blew me away as her unique vox hit the airways from the radio. Now in 2017 I can still listen to her albums and the tracks that made her a star icon to those that followed in her limelight.

actually it sounds like they reused the actual Pandoras Box backing track, reworked some minor details and just laid new lead vocals, with actualy exact same phrasing, almost copying the original singer Gina Taylor. I like this movie in a "good bad movie" way. I will say that this movie is a little below Tim Burton's 89 Batman. First off, there is slightly more star power for the time. Jack Nicholson, Jack Palance, Micheal Keaton, Pat Hingle and Kim Basinger. The Shadow has some notable stars as well but the material the actors were given was not as good as in Burton's flick. Overall... I would argue that Batman is a step up but the Shadow is somewhat close behind. The trend around that time was oddly enough a proto-Marvel type Superhero movie... Dick Tracy, Phantom etc. So I cant fault them for making it, just wish it was a bit more Well acted as Alec baldwin seems like hes got the "cool kid in the highschool play" mentality. just a bit. like hes a bit too cool for the role but it was serviceable. I will also say kudos to The Shadow for having two amazing actors in it... Ian Macellan and Tim Curry

@@MrNigelBriggs Hi Nigel. The fact that the arrangement is nearly identical is irrelevant to me. The commanding charisma of Dayne's vocal is ideal for such an over-the-top song. Aside from her prodigious power and technical skill, she totally sells it with just the right amount of self-aware drama. It's a master class in delivery, and she handles the entire song herself, whereas the Pandora's Box version consists of different vocalists handing off the various sections. They're capable vocalists, for sure, but Dayne's interpretation of the material remains without peer. There's a reason so many people consider her Tina Turner's heir apparent. Cheers! Christopher

Taylor Dayne was the right person to perform the theme to the 1994 action film The Shadow starring Alec Baldwin in the title role, based on the comic book character.

Re-found this in my CD collection (yes I still have one!) EPIC vocal - powerhouse of a voice and performer. I do hope Taylor may see these comments - she is clearly genuinely loved. I have scrolled down and those that have been lucky enough to meet her have clearly met a lovely down to earth friendly talented person. Ok, I am going to put this on repeat (have to say love Jim Steinman’s work - and Taylor’s vocals fit perfectly!)

I was eleven years old when the movie came out, still remember watching the trailer on TV but mostly this video and it was love at first sight, sadly my parents didn't take me to the theater but once hit home video and cable it became an obsession and till these days I feel the same love and passion for the movie it's glorious soundtrack , this theme and Jerry Goldsmith score.
