I am loving your band's music on Spotify 😊 I have a tip for dealing with Swift hate: if any of those gamer bros are Dad's, recommend her song "Never Grow Up". I've yet to fail making a dad bawl their eyes out at that song. For those who say she can't sing or do runs or belt, recommend the live Reputation Tour version of "Don't Blame Me". Taylor is considered a good singer with a vocal range of A2 - E6 (3 octaves 6 notes, thats 42 notes in total! ). It was D3- G5 (2 octaves 3 notes) when she started, but she since matured and has trained extensively. However, her octave range is just part of her vocal skill. Her ability to speak passion, sorrow, joy, pain and more into her songs gives them an emotional depth and presence that comes across to the listener in sound and emotion. Your ears hear it, your heart feels it. Taylor is ranked at 102 in Rolling Stone's The 200 Greatest Singers of All Time. She's right behind Gladys Knight and just ahead of Leonard Cohen and Aaron Neville and a slew of others you probably respect. Taylor ranks eighth on Greatest of All Time Artists-a Billboard list ranking music acts based on chart success-as the only 21st-century act in the top 15.

They have to pander to the biggest acts to avoid a backlash, they even ask Beyonce, Taylor ecc..and the biggest producers for their opinion before making their list, it is true they have a say in the list. I started really paying attention to Taylor Swift during the pandemic when I listened to "Folklore" all the way through without stopping. I guess at 73 years old you can call me a Latter Day Swifty, and I'm enjoying the ride! Songwriter, singer, performer, designer/producer of videos and films. I also learned recently that she started training for the Eras Tour by running on a treadmill and singing all 44 songs she performs during each concert. Talk about breath control! Taylor doesn't do vocal gymnastics and hold notes for ridiculous amounts of time or belt -- I believe this is what makes her so accessible to people of all ages, especially young ones because everyone can sing along with ease. We try to sing along with singers who do a lot of runs and holding high notes -- but we don't sound as good doing it. A whole stadium singing a Taylor song with her sounds great.
@khills2 ай бұрын
I admit, I was kinda surprised this wasn’t the song you were gonna cover, cuz I know how much you love Wildest Dreams. But also, honestly and selfishly? If you wanna grow City of Sound a little uhm… non organically? Start consistently releasing Taylor Swift reaction videos (continuing the band appeal at the end). And be honest about what you wanna stay independent! Remember that most people don’t understand the predatory contracts from record labels; hell, most Swifties don’t understand, even after everything around the masters. Hell, for that matter, if you wanna bring your expertise to the table: start breaking down some of her bridges and explain WHY they work so well - I recently saw someone explain why Cruel Summer (hahahaa just got to her clear bell belting at the end and your deadass straight stare look at the camera) was designed as a summer hit, and why they could be so confident it would have been a hit (without the pandemic), and it was SO interesting. I’d love to see you sitting at the piano and picking out her bridges and why they’re interesting, powerful, the role they have in songs - we don’t have a lot of reactors going into that kind of depth, or explaining what makes the structure of songs work. (We have a sfx videographer explaining how they do the music videos, we have producers explaining…producer-y things…we have a Brit who cries at the drop of the hat at, well bless Luke, anything…we have vocal coaches explaining her voice’s strengths, weaknesses, and how she’s grown…we have metalheads and rap fans reacting, etc. But AFAIK, we don’t have anyone breaking down her music from a lead singer, writing the songs POV.) Also, off the Taylor topic: the speaking bit in Andromeda reminds me a lot of Jane Siberry’s speaking bit at the start of It Can’t Rain All the Time, from The Crow soundtrack. Yes, I’m old and I’d bet $10 that like Tori Amos, you don’t you don’t know singer or the song. 😝 Go listen to it; it’ll hit you in the feels. 😉

I'm from Philippines and we are known for having great singing voices, while I agree that the most of Filipinos do have that quality, I rarely listen to Filipino singers in general regardless if they're Beyonce level with singing. IMO, Being a good singer doesn't measure on how high you can belt, its about connecting to the listener. Taylor does that extremely well and she doesn't have to belt to do that. Granted she's not Adele or Beyonce, but she can sing very well and her voice is so unique. I think the haters should stop honestly its quite embarrassing for them really, seeing the same "reason" for hating her over and over is just exhausting. Like gurl shut up.

Her vocals sounded stronger and more confident around this era indeed, but if you want to hear her vocal prowess while still putting on the emotions and with just her and her guitar, I highly suggest you watch her Cornelia Street Live From Paris performance as it still remains as one of her best acoustic performances to this date, though I think it is an underrated performance within the fandom 💓

If you do a series on folklore you have to do one on evermore as well. She’s folklores sister album, a little more pop to the production but still very underrated and the focus of the Album is the storytelling and lyrics.

1st: that title had me upset! I knew you’d totally come through for us. Thank you so much. 😂 2nd: I created a Spotify account just for City of Sound when you first released it and showed the behind the scenes footage. Love the song, you look and sound phenomenal. I’m so incredibly happy for your success! It’s only going to get better from here. You’ve certainly put in the blood, sweat, tears (and every last dollar) into making your dreams a reality. Well done!! 🥳🤗🫶🏼👏🏻 3rd: Taylor is a lyrical genius and has a range that she continues to expand and explore. I’m a huge fan of hers and really enjoy the videos that she produces, directs, writes and sings. Yep, she’s the real deal. There’s so many people on this platform that STILL say “that’s Taylor Swift?” While looking at her female form through wide open fingers barely covering their eyes. “I still picture her with long curly hair, cowgirl boots and a brown guitar, singing with a twang.” It’s like, sure, that’s when she was 15 years old! She’s 34 years old and a full grown woman. Amazing what 19 years of practice does for a determined person like Taylor. It almost seems they’re scared to look at this attractive woman without feeling as if they’re guilty of a sin. 🙄🙈 Ugh. It’s just frustrating because she has a fabulous voice and personality to match it. If only people would stop listening to others and just listen to her for themselves. ❤ Ok. Novel over. Have a fantastic day! 😂🎉

Pleased you had a proper sized cup to allow for each exaggerated sigh. Her singing and performing these songs so many different ways is quite the treat as well. Loved the City of Sound song as well!

People saying she can’t sing are stuck in 2009.. if her tone is not their PREFERENCE that’s different but objectively she is on key and using breath support… she can sing and is good at it. Then add her story telling, emotion, and ability to play musical instruments on top of it BAM SUPERSTAR

Doesn't make her having good vocals though lol. In fact, if we are talking about having good vocal technique, I'd put her average at best...

This performance makes me cry. There are singers with more supposed "vocal ability" that wear me out in like five mins --Beyonce, Christina Aguilera. Taylor has a beautiful instrument, and she paint pictures -not only with her lyrics, but with her tone. She is a master at wielding her vocal palate to let you know exactly how she's feeling and bringing you into it. I wish more vocal coaches would use her vocal stylings as a teaching tool.

Loved that you reacted to this!! I feel like you would really enjoy Madison beers music - she writes all her own stuff and has extremely deep lyrics. Her live voice is also so amazing. I would recommend a live session of hers. But she has all sorts of genres, but her production, voice and lyricism is so amazing and underrated!!

I also love wildest dreams. This is in my top 10 and I'm familiar with Taylor's entire discography. It's so dreamy and I love the sampling of Taylor's heartbeat in it. Also you're definitely a swiftie. You don't have to hear her entire discography. If you respect her and like her music you're a swiftie. Welcome to the fandom. Also Taylor's vocals have gotten so much stronger over the years. Her work ethic is admirable. She's constantly trying to improve herself and her quality as a singer/songwriter and performer.

I think she is great… expresses herself from her heart… it is the expression not the technique that is attracting…
