The only Taylor Swift content I follow is this channel and Taylor Swift herself. Thank you for being sensible about both parties being human. The only way one can learn from mistakes is to make mistakes, so if this is one, I hope she becomes stronger and one step closer to whatever she strives for. Can someone please explain to me why so many people are just believing rumors and headlines about Matty Healy without taking in the context of what was said or done? I knew almost nothing about him other than he was the front man of the 1975 until recently. when I look into him I find all his big supposed sins are being taken out of context. No one is telling me this is what he did… I go an look at the actual incident and what is being said isn’t the case. I’m so confused! I think you make a great point that people should be here for Taylor and not the men she dates. You said in a recent video that her muse is falling in and out of love and I think you are so right! She is going to be in many, many relationships and we should applaud that in her case because that’s where we get the music. We don’t know any of these men personally and we only know as much about their relationship as she allows us to, so pretending that we have enough info to have an opinion on who she should or should not date is silly.

I just don't agree with this. Taylor has built a good portion of her fanbase off of supporting women and POC. She personally decided to stir the parasocial relationship that would form in doing so, and she made her PERSONAL moral beliefs clear to fans, which garnered her more support. So to date someone who is openly racist and misogynistic, it's pretty telling of the behaviour she is willing to rationalize having around her, and therefore also what she deems acceptable behaviour. Obviously swifties don't know her very personally, but it makes complete and valid sense to question the authenticity of the support of these groups. Whether she was actually in support of them or if it was just her capitalizing off of these people and the parasocial relationship she formed. All of this could be solved with a single statement of clarification from her but I doubt we are going to get that.

Not having someone think or affected too much about what others think (due to her fame), that is definitely Matty Healy, and that would be a very handy trait and complementary one to be with Taylor Swift. I really do agree that swifties need to calm down, 1 it’s none of our business, 2 we can’t change anything about it, 3 I’ve seen people going as far as saying that they are un stanning her which I think is completely ridiculous.

This is not an attack on Taylor, but I am black and have been recently harassed by white swifties over this and would like to remind the comments that the discomfort that fellow black - or Asian - Swifties feel over her dating Matty Healy is a very valid hurt to have. I think silencing those voices and only uplifting the voices that blindly support is disingenuous and dangeous.

Your point about that Reddit thread being everyone virtue signaling to each other is a really good point. When I first found out about her being with Matty, I was like you, just here for the mess and the break-up songs. Then when I saw so many POC Swifties upset, I felt like I have to stop streaming or do something to be a good ally. It's a very "damned if we do, damned if we don't" situation: if you are bothered by this, then people will say you're too obsessed with a celebrity and need to go outside and seek help. But if you're not bothered, then they say you're privileged and you're enabling a bigot. This fandom makes me feel like it's a lose-lose no matter what we do
