I think my favourite thing about "right where you left me" is the way the song is constructed: the lyrics, the melody, the instruments are all repetitive as if it's being played on a constant loop. The song is so beautifully anti-climactic where you can hear it build emotionally and sonically but it just continues....as if its frozen and can't move on... It's perfect

No I think Harry! They met in like March 2012. Harry took over completely for so long. I think Harry got her over Jake (Begin Again). I just don’t think she’d write about Jake
@shailstia9137
@shailstia9137 2 жыл бұрын
No, it's about her last breakup at 23, before she reinvented herself in reputation, which happened at age 23, she changed forever after 1989 and it's the time when everyone told her to find a new perspective. Also there are so many blank space reference in the song from 1989. She is also talking about a relation where she has no choice but to wait, means a relation which ended with unfinished business. Jake and Taylor didn't end on that term.

Right where you left me has a different meaning for me. As a brother who lost his only sister when she was 23, this song reminds me of how all her friends have moved on with their lives, married and have kids now, while she's still alive in my mind and heart still as that 23 years old goofy and beautiful girl. I know the song isn't about that Or from that perspective but the part about left "Frozen in time" and "23" reference just hit me. And the fact that I heard Taylor for the first time when my sister was listening to Love story is bittersweet.

Right Where You Left Me really does get PTSD right. "She's still 23, inside her fantasy, how it was supposed to be..." For me, that was the age just before my PTSD from my sexual assault really took me down and rendered me completely non functional for years. "I'm sure you've got a wife out there, kids and Christmas..." I think about how my rapist is happy with his family, living everyday with no consequences, and I've been the one with the depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc. I know Taylor wrote this song about a breakup, but sometimes it's just a line or a bridge in a song that can be so relatable. She nailed it 100%

I am so happy that she ended this era with these two songs, especially “it’s time to go”. It’s like she is freeing herself from all the pain that she suffered from everything, her previous label, the 2016 drama, her past relationships, and the negative aspects of fame. She has finally taken control of the narrative and now she is ready to just live and make art. I really have no clue of what’s coming next for her musical career, but I’m sure it will be just GENIUS. And to say that for an artist that has been more than 13 years in the business, means a lot 🤍 Love your reactions Steven :)

In champagne problems I understood that there's no marriage, he proposed and she says nop ("I never was ready so I watch you go. Sometimes you just don't know the answer til someone's on their knees and asks you"). I’m literally so obsessed with right where you left me like it’s so catchy and it has red vibes but so heartbreaking and I think it’s on the same level of writing as champagne problems. It’s so relatable just never moving on and “dust collected in my pinned up hair” and then it’s time to go feels like the opposite side of the same coin, knowing it’s time to move on and it’s just brilliant. Plus that ENTIRE bridge to Scott had me in tears. I got chills just from “15 years, 15 millions tears, begging til my knees bled” and I was crying at “he’s got my past frozen behind glass, but I’ve got me” 🙌🏻😭😭😭

When I first heard "right where you left me" I immediately thought of Miss Americana, when she said something about celebrities being frozen at the height of their fame. Taylor is notorious for breakup songs, and even though she is in a loving 4-year relationship, people still label her as the "serial dater" and as someone who breaks easily. I kind of feel like this song is saying that part of her is still frozen in the Red era because her public perception will always be the girl who wrote breakup songs about every guy she dated, and so she disguised "right where you left me" as a breakup song. I could be SO WRONG, but that's my running theory.

Right Where You Left Me is one of my absolutely favourite songs from Evermore. It’s beautiful! It gives me Speak Now & Red vibes, also I love uniqueness of the stricture of the verses & choruses, it’s not typical. The storytelling is amazing, how it builds and develops, adding to the story as the song goes. The thing that I love about Taylor is that the bonus songs aren’t just left over B sides, they are actually just as good and on the same level of the main albums. right where you left me is my favorite from evermore and one of my favorite songs by her. it really hits hard for me because the lines “she’s still 23 inside her fantasy” and “everybody moved on i i stayed there” really hit. the first one just reminds me of everything before i was 12 where everything was great then suddenly life moved so fast and it’s much harder while i still feel like i’m 12. and the other line reminds me of the same because it’s like everyone is moving on with their lives while i still feel stuck 2 years ago

“And you're sitting in front of me At the restaurant, when I was still the one you want Cross-legged in the dim light, everything was just right I, I could feel the mascara run You told me that you met someone Glass shattered on the white cloth Everybody moved on.” made me get emotional. i feel so bad.

Rwylm is so freaking sad ,like "if our love died young , i cant bare witness" this line THIS LINE kills me every time because its basically just refusing to move on , refusing to acknowledge what happened and the melodious haunting sound of the whole song 😩👌 a fucken masterpiece " You could hear a hairpin drop" IT WAS QUIET WHEN IT HAPPENED , LIKE THEY WERE BEING STARED AT

When I first heard the two bonus tracks I listened to "right where you left me" a lot because I really resonated with it at that point in my life with feeling stuck. I hardly listened to "it's time to go". Well that's changed in the last week because now I'm at that place where I stopped being stuck and made the decision to go and move on so "it's time to go" is on constant repeat now.

Ahh, you are so my type of human. Absolutely jamming to Taylor, while rocking the Slipknot gear, & Nirvana vinyl in the background. Yes, sir. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Also, Ivy is my number 1 jam on the album by default because it’s my daughter’s name lol. Beyond that, picking favorites is impossible.

She outdid herself with Folklore...then Evermore...and now this bonus track that's just absolutely jaw dropping. Reminds me of Honky Tonk Girl but like totally different at the same time. It also makes me think of the movie Wanda. Good god, Taylor.

Thank you for sharing some of your story, man. It took me out of the song for a moment, and connected to the reviewer (you.) Appreciate you doing a reaction for this. (Right where you left me) Definitely the one (of the two) bonus song(s) I love best.

Right where you left me and red are the songs that describe my relationship with the same man. I feel the same as you about favorites changing lol. My current list, in no particular order: Long story short Ivy Right where you left me But it's taylor swift, can't I just say all of them? Lol

I absolutely love them both, but RWYLM is one of my all-time favorites from her. It’s also my fave from evermore, which is another masterpiece. I feel the same way you do about these. Love your reaction. My favorites on the album also bounce around. Lately it’s been tis the damn season, ivy, and long story short, but it will change next week, I’m sure.
