This is what you get when you combine athletic ability with fierce self-discipline and strenuous effort! Great job, sir! ATA's not my cup of tea, but you nailed it.

I agree. ATA sparring and competition is a joke but their forms are amazing, when done correctly. (I was a 3rd degree BB and an Instructor w/ ATA for a few years)

@@aashisha2316 Simply because there must be real consequences for getting hit. You must know whether or not you can continue fighting after you’ve been punched in the nose and you can’t see because your eyes are tearing. You must know whether or not you can continue fighting after you’ve been punched in the side of the jaw, or in the temple and your head starts to spin and your world begins to go black. You must know whether or not you can continue fighting after you’ve been hit in the stomach so hard that you can’t breathe and you are just gasping for every bit of air you can suck in. You must know whether or not you can continue fighting after you’ve taken a kick to the thigh and the lactic acid builds up so much that your leg goes entirely numb and you can’t stand. These are things you will not find out about yourself with ATA sparring, where everything stops after every “point” and you get to reset at a starting position. It is extremely unrealistic. I promise you, ATA training gives you a very false sense of security. My suggestion, find yourself an MMA gym. Train in boxing / kickboxing / Muay Thai and definitely throw in some no-gi BJJ. It’ll be ALOT tougher training than ATA but you will get so much more useful training.

Taylor is absolutely amazing. One of the best I’ve ever seen in forms. My son Dylan when he competed was a big fan! Thanks for sharing.

This is just WOW! I’m using this to learn the third degree form 😂 I’m a second degree rn and I’m trying to get a head start learning it so I can compete with it as soon as possible, and this is just what I needed

Awesome!!! How did he get those high kicks? I am a Purple Belt, Blue in about 4 weeks if I pass, and I have good kicks, but those kicks are amazing! 👍 👌 👏

Get your hips open. Taylor stretches and does splits every day. Core strength is needed for this third degree form. Lots of core work!

Dang... Chungdokwan (wtf) guy here and while usually I am not a fan of ata tkd this is insanely good, incredible control over every muscle and very deep stances. 👏

Thank you. He tried to do Taegok forms and the judges wouldnt have it. He has a Kukkiwon certificate but WT just wont let these guys do well. So, he gave it up. Thank you for the admiration. Would still like to know what a "walking" stance is. Not practical for sparring.

@Joey Wallace A walking stance is like a natural type of stance that you'd do on a daily basis, pretty much if you are not expecting an attack It can also be used to signify close range techniques, such as sweeps and trips, very interesting stuff! Not really practiced outside of forms in my school though

@@Unity116 yes, its a pretty big difference between Wt and ATA. ATA wants you low and WT wants you more upright. My son disliked the WT forms. Wasn't natural to him. If the ATA form's done right, this is what you get. Not disrespecting, the WT Black Belt Forms, Taegok, can be beautiful, but the way the judges want them is too sterile.

@Joey Wallace I agree that the early taegeuk forms tend to be boring, especially in comparison to other martial arts and styles. However the black belt forms my association uses are much more interesting and are better because they take a lot of influence from shotokan karate, look up Gaebek and Keumgang!

@@Unity116 They are very boring. I trained in Songahm taekwondo (WTTU) back in the 90s and ALL of their forms (especially from yellow belt to 1st degree BB) are far more interesting than the Taegeuk poomse that I learned when living and training in S. Korea.

Kudos for memorization, Technically it was lacking in stances, fulcrum and follow through with power and balance completely throughout.

If you able to, what exercises did he train to get that strength for his legs. I got the full splits but I’m struggling to progress my kick height.

Many stretch kicks. Once you have the splits in all three directions, work on core exercises. It's not the legs, but your lower back and abs. The ability to hold the kicks is solely dependent on core strength. The hight of the kicks is not as important as targeting the kicks.

Great job! Good balance and power. I just really don't like TKD forms too robotic and not very dynamic at all.

@@joeynbecky Well, Shaolin and Kuk Sool Won are the martial arts that I have experience in but pretty much any martial art I've ever seen has better forms than TKD. With ITF TKD having the absolute worst forms I've ever seen. Not knocking your ability you are clearly a very dedicated and gifted martial artist.

@@SarahStuckstede ok. I get it. I've seen the Shaolin at open tournaments. Sure, beautiful forms. But, the difficulty of the ATA forms, whether you call them robotic, requires a an insane amount of core strength to make them appear fluid. Not going to get into a debate over whose forms are better. Either way, they are a representation of fighting. My son has won 5 world championships in forms. He's regarded as the best in his organization. He went and did Taegok WT forms and got last place. So it's in the person who's judging and in the way the style of the forms is presented. Bottom line is, nobody's forms are better. If you care to spar my son, have at it.

@@joeynbecky lol, sure I'll spar your son hope he's used to punches to the head and knows how to ground spar.😆 Nah there are far better forms out there than TKD. TKD's hand movements are so god awful slow. Karate at least has some speed and uses combos something TKD never does. Core strength is nice and all but every martial trains in that.

Good chambers, flexible, conditioned. But lacking power. Modern day TKD lacks the power and practicality of the older version.

To be fair, some of the kicks had really good power, other kicks didn't have the power you would expect from a black belt, but I think that was done on purpose. I'm thinking during competition, control is more important than a great deal of power. The strikes, however, were a little weak, imo

@@joeynbecky I'm glad you were not offended, sir- obviously it's a compliment. Young Mr. Wallace kind of reminds me of a guy I competed with, uh, a hundred years ago named Matuzyk I think, in Little Rock. He was an amazing kicker and a clean technician as well

To all the wtf or itf or whatever. It's all tkd from the same origin. Stop it. Just stop it. ATA has good and bad schools just like every other organization. The best of each organization is basically the same. Show up to a world championships and find out.
