I got this legitimately back in 2014 and my god were the challenges time consuming as fuck. But when I finally unlocked it and got the Black Keycard tags, it's my permanent Left Tag with the Bow Mastery as the second. Too bad they took off mastery tracking for the kills on tags :(

@@crimzenwoffinden9973 I can step away all I want but it won’t stop corporate greed in games, we have the power to make a change with our wallets but the problem is knowing not everyone will be on the same page. Example; in GTA 5 if you’re totally new you can buy a criminal empire bundle, which nets you a few starting business’s and 1 million in cash in-game Just for SPENDING REAL MONEY. Which to the normal player who doesn’t wanna dish out money or simply cannot afford it, would take them hours to grind out to even get a single business. This can be easily solved by playing the double $$ and EXP modes, but this still takes time and effort to be able to reap the rewards of anything in the game. This doesn’t account for those with lives that don’t give them time to hop on and enjoy their games even if it’s with family. And this is just rockstar, there are others in this new predatory market and they’ve saturated it with so many ways to toss Real money at the problem that developers like Ubisoft aren’t even hiding it anymore. It’s a shame that companies that used to have a good name behind a game are now so obsessed with their greed that they’re not even remotely interested in caring towards the customers who would normally buy their games. I don’t want this to come off as hostile but just as an idea that we as gamers shouldn’t just sit around expecting new things to happen without our voices being heard and that’s how it certainly seems to be what it’s like now.

And it spawned in one of ~30 different locations. I remember I was looking for a dog tag in an enemy base in giants of Karelia. An enemy spotted me and didn’t kill me, eventually a tank came through to help recapture the obj while I hid under a truck, the initial enemy stayed with me and helped hide me from his team. Good times.

I was only able to get this when I joined a US server while I’m in Australia and have three random friends help me on the map with the railgun. Same thing happened for the camouflage outfit and on BFH for the elephant gun or something. Had some dudes from Texas help me they were cool and chilled. Thank you to those random BF players who helped me all those years ago.

Brooo you didn’t even mention the best part! In order to get into the elevator to go down and get the phantom bow it had to be you a teammate and two enemies! It was so fuckin neat back in the day! The nostalgia I just got! The rush of doing all those challenges and finally getting the bow, I don’t mind that in dragon’s teeth anyone could pick it up tho, it had been out for so long we had all enjoyed it to the max and bf1 was about to drop.

You're remembering things different. No one was really angry. They added the bow because of the poison arrows and it was more novelty than anything else. Work that would more or less be wasted if only available to the niche players, especially since BF4 was near the end of its dev cycle. Cosmetics still needed the assignments to be completed.

Ngl I'm actually happy they did this because life really got in the way of me being able to play with friends like I use to, I know how hard it was to get it originally and props to the people who did it but I'm happy I had the ability to enjoy it too. Also I got the Colt SAA on BF1 from playing two days and nights consecutively well after all the things had been discovered and I'm happy that still remains a very rare and also my all time favorite gun from Battlefield.

I did the long grind. Busted my A just getting random people with the right tags. Got it in the end. When I heard about the map unlock I was just flabbergasted, but not even remotely angry. Getting the Bow was a pain in the A. What I took from it all is I got to experience a community level challenge that newer players will never experience. And newer players or players without the patience to unlock it can finally play with a sub-par weapon that's honestly fun to mess around with.

Reminds me of unlocking the lost in binding of Isaac. The original requirements were insane and even if you did everything correct it often would still not count. The next update they added a new requirement that only required one specific item in one specific room. It would still take some RNG luck to get but nothing compared to the original unlock requirement.

Destiny 2 did something similar to this. A week before a weapon was scheduled to come out the devs hid an easter egg behind a massive community puzzle that took probably around 72 full time hours to solve (some dedicated community members lost sleep those days) and the reward was the same weapon that was on the roster for release the next week.
