Join us on an audio adventure as we step into the world of sound at Antfarm Studios with the metal producer Tue Madsen. Our goal? To put the Ampworx pre-amp pedals to the test against Tue’s own collection of the amplifiers the pedals has been modelled by.
Under the expert guidance of our DSP engineer, José, each pedal was intricately calibrated to mirror the nuances of Tue's beloved amps. Now, it's a challenge for Tue and Shredder to discern whether they're immersed in the pedal's realm or the pure essence of the amp itself. Let the sonic exploration begin!

"I could turn down a few knobs..." Made me laugh far too loudly :) Well done to anyone that can make these iconim metal amps for accessible to anybody. Love everything that I've ever played through by TC Electronic.

Beware. I was approached by @Mr_TCElectronic just before Christmas, claiming that I had been selected to win a prize. Complete scam, trying to get me to pay for international postage. I tried to contact TC Electronic directly which is not a simple task, however they failed to get back to me.

Awesome clip 😎🤘🏻🎸 I’m a huge fan of peavey amplifiers and the ampworx v500 sounds phenomenal. I would definitely consider buying this pedal if I were to conduct an ampless rig for my guitar. And I definitely remember mnemic. I’m a huge fan of this band. I’ve been listening to them since I was in high school and I still listen to them today. I wish they’re still around. Other than that, killer pedal.

Why not run the 5150 head through a Marshall cab to more closely match what's in the pedal?

they should have made an IR of the cabinet they were using before comparing. It doesn't really make sense to have a Marshall IR. It's hard to tell with these kinds of tests how things were done.

For we out here in listener land need to hear one sound then the other with some extended playing if even for 15 seconds per passage and then switch. In this video there is switching at random within different parts of the playing, which is all very inconsistent with no way for us to discern anything. The whole video comes across as, "Believe us because the guys in the video keep saying they can't hear much difference." I like my TCE pedals, and I'm sure I'll like these too. But this video? I don't like as it's a marketing video not an actual A/B test.

Over the past 20 years I've heard these same claims 100's of time from makers of many digital modelers. Same claims of identical (or almost identical) tones and feel and playing dynamics. And every time I've tested the said device I found those claims to be untrue. A $3000 Axe-FX came closest so far. TCE are a good company imo and I own several of their products, but I simply do NOT beleive the claims made in this video :)

hearing is believing. Remember that the volumes must be matched exactly (or you'll prefer the louder one) and optimally you should play both the amp and the model through the same cabinet, or like here the same studio monitors (and obviously in the latter case the IR in the product will make a difference). Also with the tools Jose uses he is able to make sure the controls are dialed in so that the tone matches as well as possible (just the smallest difference between drive levels can cause a pretty big difference in how the amp sounds and acts).
