The base is adjustable so it can fit a sound bar. There are 2 different heights available. Page 5 of the manual. 8:25

I currently own a TCL 65R635 and it can output audio both on the optical output and HDMI eARC at the same time with the roku operating system. This is very important to me since I am using a hearing aid adapter on the optical output and the rest of the family enjoy audio through the HDMI to a Nakamichi sound bar. Can the TCL QM8 also do this since it is using the Google operating system? Or is it limited to one or the other.

Can i ask what would be neutral sharpness value for the settings, its either looking too soft or over sharp. I know medium noise reduction helps a little. Any help would be appreciated

Both Amazon as well as Best buy have the 65" for $899.00. For this price range I could definitely see myself for buying this TV.

I bought the 75" version a few weeks ago. Gorgeous TV for the money. My only issue is that the ARC sound stops working after a few days, and you have to go in the settings and restart. I wish TCL would put out an Android 12 update to fix this.

Thanks for the thoroughly informative review! On the segment where you compared HDR to SDR, the SDR looks so dark comparatively that is seems unusable. My daughter's Samsung doesn't seem to get dark, when watching SDR content. Is the seeming darkness due to the HDR comparatively being so bright and amazing? Cancelled an LG order after watching your reviews of this and the Hisense u8k. Decided I needed to do some more research!

Was the KZfaq TV programming through an external box/stick or through the TV’s Google interface? I have just heard the upscaling on this TV leaves something to be desired, and external upscaling helps.

@@TechSteve Thanks for the reply and videos. So it was being fed an upscaled video (4k) from the PS5. That probably helps it some. Could be an interesting set of videos to compare internal tv upscaling to external. I think the QM8 needs the external help.

0:35 I think it would have been better to just show actual street prices rather than launch prices, since this model has been out for over a month now and the price has largely settled. The 85inch has been selling for 2200 for several weeks now.

Hi tech steve, are you possible make a video comparaison between TCL C745 and this TCL QM8 ? 😌🙂 For you which is better between this 2 models ? I search a tv with good luminosity, with the natural luminosity/colours to led/qled tv and the new technology mini-led... For TCL mini led, the only model who seems interess me against the other is this QM8... the tcl c845 is so much luminous, the c805 (model europ) seems no more luminous, and the hisense's tv U7K and U8K i dont like because the control of luminosity is so pronounced.... I've been looking for a new TV for months and between so many models by brand and the advantages and disadvantages of each technology, I don't know what to choose... thank you for your help in advance

Are you 100% sure that this model has ATSC 3.0 tv tuner hardware included which you posted during this video review (05:19 mark on the video)? I heard that TCL hasn't added an ATSC 3.0 tuner yet (only ATSC 1.0) on 2023 TV models which is very disappointing but if you know something I don't, and you have found out that they have included a next-gen ATSC 3.0 tuner then I'd be a happy chap.

The rest of the TV seems to be very good & I am in the market for a TV upgrade & this model looks really good. In my country, it is called the C845. Thanks for your review. Steve... I have to ask the hard questions. Should the average consumer take the dive on TCL or Hisense or go with the time tested brands of Samsung, Sony etc.... We need to know your thoughts. To be honest, I create so many videos I never use them after I’m done, I feel that TCL and Hisense is giving you so much performance for the money that unless the big boys get the technology and pricing under control they will start loosing market shares.

I have a $3000 calibration software that I never use but maybe I will try it out again in the future. Even if your tv is calibrated can people tell the difference a day later and i don’t think so.

Doubt so. Early online specs showed fewer FALD zones. Our C845 should be comparable to the US's Q7. Perhaps a future C945 will be comparable to the US's QM8.

@@TechSteve On the tcl website you posted it always says up to 2300+ local dimming zones. This does not mean that it has 2300 local dimming zones. It is also hard for me to believe that a 65" Qm8 has the same amount of local dimming zones as a 75" Qm8 or a 98" Qm8. Right now I more believe the numbers I posted. They would be insane giving every tv size the same amount of dimming zones. 2300+ Zones for every size just does not make sense. I bet the 65" has a bit more than 1000 like the hisense.

Do you think they are selling this at a loss? The specs is way too good for its price. Too bad in my country they sell a crappy version of this TV (C845) that only has 900+ zones. Maybe this is how they are trying to recoup the cost? By giving the Asian market the short end of the stick?

I have one of these TCL TVs and it only lasted 4 years. I can hear it when I turn it on but it has this black film over the picture and I cannot see now for whatever reason that this TV just stopped working so can someone explain this to me if this tv brand is so good

I have a Samsung tv, their highest end tv of 2015. Stopped working in 2017. It's in my garage now never I haven't had the heart to throw it away. Someone tell me why is Samsung number one when one of their TVs didn't even last 3 years for me... See how that sounds? It's a true story by the way. And my oldest TCL is a 2014 model that I'm still using. Long story short, "it" happens.

TCL also makes good sound bars. If you buy a TCL TV, pick up one of their atmos sound bars with rear speakers. If you go with the Hisense TV, buy a WISA 5.1 system.
