Brilliant movie brilliant acting. Cut high school 5 straights days to watch this movie twice a day. I was so young and couldn't believe that an actor could play both the graduate role, then midnight cowboy role. Brilliant. Thank you so much

This is why Hoffman is one of my favorites. He took chances and challenged himself.

Hoffman & Voight were ROBBED when John Wayne won best actor Oscar that year.
@kayzeaza2 жыл бұрын
It did win best picture of the year and that was heavily due to Voight and Hoffman

they should have shared the award but it was given to someone who couldn't act
@edwardwilson78582 жыл бұрын
Whenever you had two actors nominated in the same category, they cancelled each other out and someone else won the award. Burt Lancaster and Montgomery Clift (1953) Peter O'Toole and Richard Burton (1964) Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine (1972)

Jeeezus. It was a a travesty. A horror. One of the great film characters of the decade vs a comic strip cowboy soldier.

The idea that the cowboy character was hustlng women on 42nd street is hilarious.

The entire cast of Midnight Cowboy are great. This film is put together meticulously. There isn't a forced scene in it. It's superb film making.

He could act, but not a cryer. Was very matter of fact in his roles. Dustin good but a real ham.

Hoffmann got one 10 years later which should have been given to Martin Sheen who wasn't even nominated, go figure.

This is one of my favorite movies...It is funny sometimes but over all it is a story about a pair of mismatched loners...They become good buddies and take care of each other but Rico was destined to have a sad ending...

So much for Mike Nichols' judgement. Hoffman knew what was best for him, and proved it over and over again.

Midnight Cowboy also exists in an R rated version. I wonder what kinds of edits were made?
@jimbearone2 жыл бұрын
They “downgraded” it to an ‘R’ rating in later releases because the content was no longer as controversial but there were no edits as far as I know. It was edited for time and content for television but the DVD should be the theatrical release.
