I'm so happy to find your videos. I was sharing what I could create with a colleague and she said, "Yeah, but the accordions don't automatically collapse when you open the next one." SMH I thought I would get a better response. :) Thank you for taking the time to help educators!!

Yea, technically they're not real accordions, but you and I still think they're swell! 😅

Thank you for these videos! I have been enjoying finding out what I can do in Canvas (perhaps too much since I've been playing with css instead of uploading course content). These videos are very well made, clear, and helpful for people at a variety of levels of experience with Canvass and CSS.

I appreciate that so much! I quite often schedule time on my calendar for exploring rabbit holes, because CSS/HTML in Canvas truly is a fun adventure. I myself find time to explore weekend mornings as the family is still rubbing their eyes and evenings.

Thanks! Good stuff. I really appreciate what you do. It's been a big help. @18:11 - You could also have done instead of padding-left. This will keep the indent the same as the unordered list with the bullets, but not show the bullet. I'm sure you know this, but this way you're not guessing how many pixels of padding to put.

That's a great idea. There are so many styling possibilities and I hope I gave people some good ideas even if the video was not comprehensive (though it's one of my longer ones). Also, thank you so much for the contribution! It means a lot.

Thank you for this video, it has been useful, as I originally had accordion menus on my Canvas Course, sadly, it never worked on the Canvas Mobile app. With the video you have supplied this has helped fix that issue, so big thank you 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 I was thinking about the role="button" aria-expanded="false" and the accessibility. Having content expanded, especially if you are using it as an onscreen modules navigation option, would be nice so students can see what content is directly after. However, when I changed the false to true nothing happened. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Hello and thank you! Is there a way to make 2 of your Quick Links boxes sit side by side (with some padding between them)? I'm trying to make a simple flow chart for one of my Canvas courses.
@HowToCanvas

If I were to do that, I would attempt to do it via bootstrap. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rNqlechl1sDKk58.html However, on small screens like phones the boxes would be one on top of the other instead of side by side. We have to design for mobile in mind.

Thanks a lot. I have minimal HTML abilities and everything is self taught. I am normally good at taking code and manipulating it, to make my Canvas pages look more professional and engaging. Is there a way to add drop shadows to the summary "buttons"? Canvas appears to be stripping out the box-shadow attribute. :( I did find another Canvas KZfaqr that makes drop shadows by using two divs, but I have not been able to blend that with the summary. (Sorry, my comment seems to be disappearing when I try to include the link to Bhavani Kola's shadow box resources.) Any ideas or suggestions?

The only way to do the drop shadows in Canvas right now is to incorporate some CSS code into the theme editor. If you have access to your institution's theme editor then I have a video that talks all about it. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gbJgdKeXqsene5s.html

@@HowToCanvas Thanks. I don't have access. Actually, we are not encouraged to do anything "fancy". They want everything to look identical...and boring. Bhavani Kola uses a DIV for the shadow and then another DIV offset for the actual text box.

That's an approach. I like the blurred effect of the drop shadows, and also the ability to determine the colors. I hope you continue fighting the fancy fight.
