I've been having so many issues with my SDiT backing up into positions. He walks onto his place (usually a blanket on the floor), perfectly centered, and then he'll go into a down or a sit and only his front paws will be touching the blanket. I'm so glad I found this video. It's so helpful. Thank you! :)

I would love yo thank you soo much for your videos ..we have a 4 month old german working breed german sheperd and he was so stubborn and lazy we almost lost hope on him till we started to watch your videos. We found out he is food dreven which made training much better . Thank you so much training dogs is not one size fits all you tought us to see what motivate our dog and work on it.

Over 25 years ago I used a table like that to bathe my dogs.(it was easier that they were standing above my knees rather than bending over) no idea I was doing something right that made it so easy they didn't move. A sudden this video made sense I never made sense of ;)

So right Robert,it is a deep relationship we have with our dogs. Dwain is such a happy boy. I have seen channels that really knock those of us that use food rewards. I use food and Zed works really hard for her bits of food on the fields . Great video and loving all the positivity and the odd correction. : ) Thanks as always : )

I know when I had to put down my last dog it nearly destroyed me. When you teach your dog to do things you create a very special bond. I know I say I rescued my current dog Ruby but in all reality it was a mutual rescue. I got Ruby when she was 1 from a local shelter. The shelter had a warning on her paperwork to have 2 people handle her, she was that wild and crazy. Now not even 2 years later Ruby has earned her novice trick dog title and recently came in 2nd place in a trick dog contest. I just hope when its Ruby's time she goes on her own, having to give the order to put your dog down is just jacked up. I just hope my dog teaching business will grow enough to where I can afford more dogs.

What is a punishment look like to a dog, by yelling or pulling their chain? I'm glad you made this video because Dwayne is a new puppy whereas Goofy does everything perfect. Must have a lot of patience and perseverance.

I so appreciate your videos and in my new adventure of dog training (for a dog I don't even have yet but learning). When you teach "sit". you release your dog by saying yes. I have seen in another video that you use the word "yes" when they give you the correct behavior. Am I confusing the use of the word yes or is this just a good flow for the dog to use yes to release. Great video once again! Very helpful! Question, any tips on "The perfect down?" My 5 month old GSD tends to go down on all 4's then very quickly leans over to one side. She does not stay in the sphinx position. (Wasn't sure where I should post the question so I just put it here. Thanks in advance Robert)

I am curious what the professional answer is to your question! But the trick I have used when they “lazy sit” to one side I will GENTLY take my foot and not knowing how else to describe this, slowly step or tap or put pressure down on their toes that are sticking out. I am not trying to hurt the dog just tell them “Hey your feet are in the way”. My dogs with out even looking down or taking their eyes off of me just tighten up third sit and pull their feet under them. I guess a tap or nudge might be a better way of describing it. Hope that helps.

proper sits may prevent hip problems, but dogs with hip issues will have a hard time sitting with a tuck sit

Me and my wife got him because of a possibility suddenly appeared and that he was born on the same day as our previous dog (sentimental) but still planned. But we had long before bought a trip which keeps us away for 2 weeks, so my question is if he can get detriment(problems) for life.? We are planing to live him with a professional "dog nanny" at our home 24 hours a day?

@Robert Cabral we have very similar dog teaching styles. I did like this new idea how to teach sit on a pedestal. I think I am going to teach my Ruby to sit this way. She does a great normal sit, but this sit I like better for the same reason you mentioned and It would be nice to have this kind of sit when I do the treat on the nose trick, which my Ruby is very good at :) You can see her on my youtube channel. I also have subscribed to yours. Hope to gain some more new knowledge. I always keep an open mind when talking to other dog teachers.

My experience, owing only rescue dogs for over 15 years now and having worked with an uncountable amount of shelter dogs, is that age doesn't matter. You can teach a ten year old the same as a two year old. But older dogs aren't "blank pages" and often come with varieties of issues that might make training more difficult than with a puppy.

I have watched a ton of your videos and I have gotten pretty far with my Australian Cattledog since I am understanding his drive better but I have a question that I can't seem to find any answer for... Should I only work with one command during a single training session or is it ok to work on multiple commands during a single session?? Should we do multiple sessions each day working on different commands or what? Sorry that this question may seem somewhat confusing but I'm trying to structure my dogs training so we can have the most optimal results. Love the vids, keep up the great work! -James

@@RobertCabralDogs cool Both a good question and answer. I pretty much always give the treat from hand or throw it at her to see if she catches or not. She really good at catching things now. I just wish I could throw a frisbee better, I think Ruby would really kick some butt at dog frisbee competitions. She has insanely high energy and loves to play.

My 9 weeks old German shepherd absolutely hates to be on a leash. I have been trying to get him to used to it since he was 7 weeks old. But He will not move an inch with it on nor will he listen to anything I say. He Only cries and tries to bite it. Does anybody have any advise please.

i have a malinois puppy nearly 4 months old how long do you treat train for and also she goes to puppy classes and she goes to different parks fulls of dogs and people but apart from our beagle that we also own she barks and snaps at every other dog, i would like to hear how we could correct this or if we are doing something wrong, she has never had a bad experience with any dog

@Robert Cabral, Hello Robert! You have some serious talent in training! Your detailed explanations are quite valuable. A question if I may: does this work on a 1-yr-old Groenendael? Lina (my Groenendael) is extremely curious and I MUST teach her the perfect sit, before she founds herself into some serious trouble! If it is not a big disturbance, please write a few words. You will -literally- save a dog's life! thank you!

A Groenendael is a working dog just like a Malinois (because both are Belgian shepherd dogs). Groenendaels need proper training and exercise to be happy dogs. So a sit training should only be the absolute basic training you do to her. She needs more than that though. Otherwise she will get unhappy, aggressive or destructive.

He doesn't eat the treat, he nibbles on it. You have to keep the treat tight between your fingers so the dog can't pull it out but can lick and nibble it.

That Lab likes those treats. You could probably teach him 1-5 multiplication tables with some food encouragement. Hopefully the women haven’t been watching the video to learn how dogs get trained. 👍

Love the videos but I don't repeat the word sit by saying" good sit, good sit " . I tell my class to mark the behavior or say good or yes, but not repeating the command so the dog will learn to do this the first time.

If you watch his binary dog video or his way of training, he talks about yes is yes, no is no, and good is to continue the command and that he likes what he is doing now.

That's fine once the dog understands the command and what you want. Teaching a new command takes repetition and good timing, especially for young dogs. I think your expectations will add a bit of frustration for dog and owner in the beginning. As you saw in this video, after just a few minutes the command was only given once with great response. Don't forget to have fun.
