trains would be a cool concept for mobile survival. I imagine just a bunch of tracks placed down as if abandoned and then tribes living in train cars as they travel around the map, possibly running into other train tribes

hey i found out that you have to treat the rails like ceiling tiles so you have to use a pillar on the 3 rail it helps alot

Why would they not allow turrets on the train and build a mini base on it.

I recently bought Bob's Tall Tales, my brother and I have been very curious about the train but haven't built any tracks yet due to the massive amount of metal ingots needed to build our tek replicator. I started my train near the center on top of one of the cliffs. You can use pillars to keep extending over the cliff to the fround or another cliff. Sand hills aren't so bad if you use pillars.

This is amasing, you can place gerators walls and placable structures on the rail carts, and in a pvp setting it only takes a crossbow and a grapple to completly derail a train and rob people

Does not work on The Island Map, I just tried to spawn them in and some floating texts pops up that says its not allowed on that map.

Ok I tested it. The track seems to have a no-build radius similar to a foundation. Apparently these would be a great way to do "pillar spam". You can use them creatively and offensively in PVP. Pretty neat. More resilient and easier to throw away mats than tames. Cool addition to game. WAY MORE HP THAN A FOUNDATION.

I think the materials for the track aren’t to cheap to try to avoid people going mad with it But I doubt many will as taming and boss prepping will be priority. Looks good fun tho

Its probably a good idea to build the track in the air using pillars, that way you can keep it straight.

Can you attach the rails to another clan? Who are not in alliance. 2 different tribes able to attach to each others rails. Or you think you have to be in an alliance

Pressing Q when placing or E you can change the snap/angle though can't you?

You can put crop plots on a train platform and plant xplant turrets BUT... when the turrets are full grown and you drive away the plants stay suspended in the air and are no longer on the platform. The crop plots stay on the platform but not the plants.

Do dinos still hunt you on the train? Does the tracks or train make you invisible to them or will dinos still hunt you like if you pass a raptor will it try and chase you? Kinda worried my hard work would be destroyed with all the predators around, but at the same time wondering if you can make a train track going in and out the wyvern egg spot to make a crazy get a way lol

The track connecter is very hard to use at first it was working fine it connected my tracks perfectly even though they weren't lined up to good and now I'm trying to connect my track again and it's lined up nearly perfectly but not it won't connect and when it does it says out of range or to sharp even though it's not it's very frustrating since I've spent the last 7 hours building a track that lops around the map and it won't connect

i'm kinda hoping WC develops skins for this for other maps so that it fits in. Maybe a Monorail system for Aberration & Extinction? I don't really see steam locomotives fitting in too well on those maps. it'd still be useful, tho

im trying too build with these things but after a bit it keeps saying i have no foundation support. Got rails to work except the connectors they keep despawning every time I try to use them and they make no sense

In the reveal video they showed actual train cars (meaning with walls and such). I had thought that those might be specific engrams, but it seems not. Can you put walls and ceilings on the flatbeds?

Don't do cheat fly it's unfixable. The train (with upcoming 2 way split) will ALWAYS default to the right track. Stairs and doors are a no go on the platform carts, use awesome elevators for multi floors. If you want junctions? Use a two way split and keep going straight using the right track. Use the left track as your alternative track as you will have to manually switch the tracks. Most of the time you can do what needs to be done in your train base while it's moving. But lag can glitch you off. No placing structures on the train during movement. And there is all the same restrictions as normal platforms but setting don't apply to the train... the Dino platform cart? Allows turrets and overbuilding due to settings. The train doesn't take these setting into account so for now you are forced to build within the restrictions of the train. Unlimited height but not enough structures fore three floors! (Unless you are careful with railings and doors). Avoid being on ground level until you have heavy turrets you can pickup and place since you need to build a base AROUND the train to defend it... no turrets allowed. But I can add windmills? I get I'm in pvp but I play solo lol Edit: the extendable track piece doesn't work at all. You HAVE to build in the air don't even bother looking for flat land. Build ur track as straight as possible you'll be thankful. The train stops after leaving render but continues whaler re entering render. Disconnecting cart 1 while having 5 carts (max) will disconnect all carts leaving you to have to reconnect all 5 bits separately which takes at least 2-3 minutes. Sorry if I missed anything I tried to give all relevant information

Only 2x ways i can see these trains being viable in pvp..... 1) inside BIG cave bases where the entrance (choke point) is far from the actual base. In this sense the track could slow progress of soakers like stegos while making resource transfer easier. Hell bigger tribes may even decide to build the track to nearby resource points if they dont care about remaining hidden And 2) as a mobile base on scorched earth, move location, pick up tracks, build walls and turrets AROUND the train as a makeshift train shed then pick up base and move again. It has potential,but not for solo players like myself Dx solos will be unable to keep the resources going or even manage the time needed to keep it safe Dx

Thanks great video, But i have to say thee outfits look horrendous so ill not be wasting money on them. The who train thing seems way to much of a carry on to bother with just hope the maps good otherwise ill be uninstalling the game again :)

Im disappointed that so many people are buying this expensive mod. Wildcard selling expansions to an unfinished game is nothing new. All this video did was show that this isn't worth the money.

Honestly! I would have preferred the Island map with the ASE bugs removed and an optimization pass over this (although you can't MTX an optimization pass...), or the Centre map instead. That track layering is seriously jank, but I understand the difficulty of letting the player have free reign on placement being the difficult part to integrate. If the tracks were static, a Generalist Houdini artist could have projected curves and built them everywhere and working correctly in a few weeks/couple of months. Here is a question, can you layer a track on foundations? Monorail anyone :p
