61 years old. Covid survivor from May 2020. (Yes, it's taken that long to feel somewhat normal again.) Received my first rowing machine this week. Complete beginner just learning how to get back in the game and get toned and build up some body strength to stay healthy. Life is short. This is a super video for someone like me who has no idea how to row. THANK YOU!

@@ello-nasty Do you think he suffered from Covid or maybe from mask wearing, or from sticking toxic swabs into his nose or maybe from the 24/7 fear mongering? Do you think putting a mask on for multiple hours is healthy? Have you read studies analyzing the bacteria and fungus that develops on masks within hours? Have you read studies which analyzed the contents of the swabs? This is just a scratch on the surface of the mountain of lies. The truth sometimes hurts but it's better to wake up to it, so please do your own research. If you need sources, I'm glad to provide them.

This video helped me ALOT! I was death-gripping the bar such that I was getting calluses on both my hands. The loose grip works MUCH better! I only had my rowing machine for 3 weeks, but with correct technique, it seems like rowing is much easier. I started going barefoot with no straps, and my feet NEVER slips off the pedals! I start at level 6 and work my way up to level 10 (I do 5 minute intervals for each, then take a break). I'm glad that I subscribed to your channel. I still have to go thru alot of your videos. Shane , I’ve been rowing for years off and on., now 62. Self taught on the erg in my 30s and would row at the gym intermittently. Now I’ve got an ERG in them living r,oom. Originally I thought increasing stroke rate with the damper on a 10 was how you did it. I’ve improved immensely since focusing on stroke rate in your advanced work outs. And now understand how to generate power and resilience on the machine. I decided to watch you teach beginners and picked some nuances in my ow n form that I need to focus on. This is an excellent video! Thanks Mark

This is an excellent explanation! It's the best I've seen so far. I received my Concept 2 a few days ago. The technique is surprisingly difficult/awkward, but like anything else, it will take practice. The other surprising thing about rowing is that there's almost no resistance after the first pull (on level 5). It's so light that I tried a few pulls with just one finger through the middle of the handle. (I was just curious; I won't continue that.) I'm still trying to figure it out, but I feel more encouraged now. I'll watch again a few times while playing along and see how it goes. Thanks for this video!

I have two areas that are a big question mark for me. How far to open the hips at the release. I see where some say about 11 degrees but it looks more like 30 -40. Also, I seem to slouch (I think that is the word you used) to sit too far back on my rump which after time causes discomfort in my coccyx area. If you have any thoughts - thanks. Okay, being new at this myself, it appeared that Kevin seemed to be "leading" with his shoulders in the drive. My understanding of your explanation is that the hips should open at the end of the extension, or the push away from the machine, right? Great coaching video~! Thanks~!

Epic teaching video on rowing.Thank you so much. you are great teacher. planning to buy rowing machine, tried first time in the store, 3 strokes, got backache, that's because of probably faulty technique of mine. I am 50, can I learn at this age, is it advisable to buy

Just recently started rowing, this is definitely the best instruction I've encountered on the internet. Question, I injured myself last week (ruptured Achilles tendon) and am in a boot. I have been doing the row machine and feel great doing it. Would you recommend i continue with my workouts although i do lose a bit of form because of the boot. Or just stop altogether until im off the boot. I will be in the boot for another 2 weeks at least, i just don't want to lose any cardio .

Same here. My knees bow out because of my stomach. Just more motivation to lose the weight! How has your progress been?
