Teaching Vermillion: Export as Image or Model (Steam)

Vermillion tutorial! NOTE: This video is for the Steam version of Vermillion, with headsets connected to a computer. The Quest version is a separate video. Once you have created your painting, you will want to share it with people! There are several ways to export your painting, including as a 3D model or a high-resolution image. This is a free series of tutorials for Vermillion, the oil painting app for virtual reality by the Aviary. It is available on SteamVR and the Oculus store.

Great video! Thanks for showing this functionality. I was a bit bummed to only see a jpg output for photos. It would be good if you could export TIFF in an uncompressed format. If you wanted to print a painting at a large size on canvas the more data you have the better. The video covered the screens well. Can't wait till this hits my quest 2.

I agree. The developer does plan to add more Export options. Right now he is concentrating on getting the Quest version up and running. Thanks for watching, and for the comments!

These videos are hugely helpful! I have escorted before, but I have never printed any of my paintings on a real canvas (bringing VR into IRL), but I'd really like to know how to do so!

I just got this for my Oculus 2 and I love it, but… When I go to export I don’t show the resolution choices. There is no 2K, 4K or 8K. Am I doing something wrong? Missing an update? Thanks for your help!

The Export video was made before it was released for Quest, so that is for the Steam version only. We will be making a separate video for the Quest. Sorry about the confusion! Thanks for watching!

Is there any way to download the Steam version of Vermillion onto Oculus - This Vermillion version is for Windows, but I have a Mac and the Oculus Quest 2..

Right now, Vermillion is either Steam or Oculus, they do not transfer, sorry. You may be able to set up Steam to control the Oculus headset, though. Good luck and have fun!

How large of a 300DPI print can be made from Vermillion? Would I be able to make a 32 x 40 inches 300 dpi without any loss of resolution?

Vermillion can export a few ways, including as a 3D textured surface. On a PC it can export as a 4k JPG, but for high quality print you should have it upscaled to 8k. There are a few online upscalers that can handle it. There are more details about this in the Discord channel. Thanks for watching!
