Vermillion tutorial! The VR controllers you use in this oil painting app have standard uses, plus a few detailed controls. We look at the main interface and how you control this program. This is a free series of tutorials for Vermillion, the oil painting app for virtual reality by the Aviary. It is available on SteamVR and the Oculus store.

I'm completely new at this Vermillion app (and honestly, I'm a completely new at Meta Quest2!), but I absolutely love this man! His videos are excellent and easy to follow!!

This is an important video to understand how to use the controllers. The developer should consider linking to your playlist from their website or the app. These are short and sweet. Suggestion for future video: The paint thinner bucket on the easel. Not sure how that is used since I have a quest 2 and it's not out for that yet.

If you,flip from right handed to,left handed, does it reverse those controllers?

Yes, if you reverse the handed, it will swap the controllers: the left hand holds the brush, palette in the right, with the thumb controls accordingly. Thanks for watching and have fun painting!

i have a few problems with this program. first, i can't understand why it has so few undos when any other dedicated drawing up, even on just a phone or tablet, not as powerful as a pc, has far, far more! second, i can't understand why you can't create a custom pallette using an actual colour wheel in order to more accurately get the colours you want. third, and this is the one that stopped me from using the program altogether, on the vive controllers, the undo stroke button is on the directional touchpad, right next to the reset palette button on the same touchpad, so you unavoidably end up resetting your palette, losing all your colours, every time you want to undo a stroke! the idea for vermillion is amazing, but i feel like the entire thing was a cluster bomb of poor design choices. i pray someone replies to this, calling.me an idiot and explaining how all these issues can easily be solved, but somehow i don't think I'm going to be that lucky 😞

Hiya! No, you're not an idiot, but some of this should be doable. The dev did enable more undo's, is it still no enough? Since the app is ROYGBIV and not RGB, you can not the usual digital color wheel. The dev does plan to add paint "tubes" in the drawer under the palette, but that is still in development. For the Vive controllers.... I'm afraid I'm not sure of an easy work around. I upgraded to an Index and never looked back. Maybe we an talk to dev about adding a way to do custom bindings. Anyway, thanks for commenting, sorry it took so long to answer.

@@ShamelessMayhem all good. thanks for the reply! i might be spoiled for undos from using procreate so much, and given that i am very much a beginner at painting, there may never be enough undos for me! 😂 looks like i may need to upgrade to some index controllers in the near future to get the most out of vermillion. as for the paint tubes, that sounds exciting 😀
