The electronic speed controller that came with the brushless motor has many wires to connect. The instructions that came with it literally look like they were drawn by hand and are missing key information.
Consider this the definitive guide to wiring up a Chinese electronic speed controller / brushless motor. This is a TDPRO 1800W brushless motor with a TDPRO Brainpower motor controller. This video has the essentials for getting it running, including forward/reverse, speed control, ignition key, brake, brake light, indicator, hall, phase wiring, etc.
In this series I am putting a much more powerful brushless motor in a mobility scooter for drift. The motor from the mobility scooter is then going into a custom drift trike to form a drift squadron!

Great informative video. Thank you for measuring the voltages on the brake various leads to tell me that the lights are 48VDC. I guess I'll find a stepdown circuit to run my 12VDC cooling fan for this kit that I used to build an outboard boat motor.

Thanks for the good video you need to also mention about the voltage threshold of these ESC not realising this testing on a power supply I thought mine was faulty until I worked out the motor would not enable till over 44 volts Obviously this feature saves the li Ion battery from critical discharge 😃

Thanks for this great tutorial. My sons and I set up our own version of this last week and having loads of fun. One issue we have come up against is the engine seems to have seized or the controller isn’t working. Was going well the overnight seems to have seized. Makes noises like it wants to go but doesn’t. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Thank you so much for this video. I have this exact motor and controller and have been looking everywhere for a simple step by step like this. One question you may be able to help me with.. Everyone else with this motor appears to have a contactor relay wired in as some sort of pre-charge. Is this necessary? Also if I am using a mechanical disk brake instead, what should I do with the brake from the controller? I've heard it can damage the motor if left.. Thanks again.

Got a moped pocket razor. Will the razor twist throttle. Got the 3000 W model no throttle. Going to order one and hopefully it works.

Thanks for the info. Have a Kun Ray 3000w 72v motor thats similar with exception of wire colors, so a bit tricky without an installation guide. Any idea of where online I might find one? It can be drawn with crayons idc at this point

so glad i came across your video...im using a pride jazzy elite HD powerchair as my base, came with left and right electrocraft motors model#62-004-002 (250w cont). want to run hand grip throttle controls with a fwd/reverse switch. How would I hook a three speed switch up to that I bought one it has three wires black red and green I have a three speed sensor connector on my controller with three wires as well that don’t match those colors. Just curious how I would wire that in

What toggle switch are you using? since all the output is 48v? all the toggle switches i found are spec in VAC

You can fit a resistor potentially to limit the current and use lighter duty switches.

How can I tell if my controller can take a potentiometer input on the throttle? There is no insturuction that came with the controller. Is it safe to test it with a potentiometer if it is expecting a hall sensor?

What happens if you connect speed 1 to 2 and add a button to 3? So 1 is connected to 2 and 3 will it blow the controller or just select speed 3?

I have a vevor 2000 watt 48 volt controller,I have grey black and yellow for forward and reverse which I connected grey to black for forward.I have connected red to orange to bypass switch.My throttle is faulty,so I connect red to which wire on controller,there is no green wire anywhere to be seen,also speed wire are blue and black no other colour ?

Hi Can you clear this up for me? I have 48v 1600w brushless scooter motor in my scooter, stock 48v 12ah 20v LI batt and crap no name controller What is the main component that powers this motor and can push it to the limit, is it the controller or the battery? I was thinking to go with 48v 1500w controller and 48v 20ah 50v LI battery (1800w) max What controller and battery combo will push this motor to the max? I was even thinking of going 60v overall TY for your videos

pls make a video wiring a light of any escooter. how to determine voltage of the light without connecting the battery? how to connect a 12v light to a 36v or 48v controller?I see some controllers just went direct to the positive and negative and the lcd throttle has a display and button for the light.and so they can directly switch it on just like the lcd display(LH 100) plus make a video sir.thanks

I see some sources say the hall and throttle wires are 5v output. My plan is to control motor speed with Arduino, and control the Arduino with Unity 3D. Is this possible?

Indeed it is. I use arduino on mine as a speed limiter. And then have the theottle conected to arduino.

Wondering if you could help me out. I have the same controller and only need forward as I am building a scooter. That being said, I de-soldered all the wires that I didn't need and changed their lengths to be specific for my build. My plan was to re-solder a short jumper between those pins so it would always go forward. Unfortunately, I forgot which pins they were after taking a break to help my daughter with something. I have looked absolutely everywhere online and I cannot find any information on the pinout for the board or photos of the board that would help me see where they are connected. Would you be willing to open your box and tell me what pin the yellow and black wires are connected to? I assume the black is a ground but would like to be absolutely positive so I don't fry anything. Each pin is labeled on the front and back of the board and that should be all I need. Help me Teaching Tech...you're my only hope!!

Is it possible to get a wiring schematic for a Vevor BY12WF02-C controller? The connectors are marked except for the 8 pin connector. Is it possible to get that 8 pin wiring schematic? The end of the extension wiring harness is different. We have identified all except for 3 - two, two wire and one, one wire connections. We are trying to motorize my Joyrider by Trail Mate so that I can ride with my handicap, which doesn't allow me to pedal. We are willing to pay for the wiring schematic. Thank you. It would be nice to just ride and this motor would help.

Great vid ! ... Am converting to a 36v. 1000w brushless set up - '' pretty much looks like what you have'',,, - on a minibike,, going from a 36v 1000w ''MY1020'' brushed motor set up. It has a multi wire Hall effect 1/2 ''throttle'', & on / off switch integrated also,, with 3 batt. level indicators also integrated in the throttle housing... Am not sure how that would be wired with a brushless controller like you have ?? The stock bike brushed controller, is a common 1000w 36v one.. Any insight on this would be great!.. The Minibike is a Monster moto E-1000 ….. Thanks, Ian

Look up reverse BLDC motor and you'll find an indian dude explaining it. You basically swap two of the phase wires and two of the hall sensor wires around.
