Conflict is both the invitation to expand our consciousness and the potential cause of complete destruction. Like a root that can either grow a fragrant flower or a poisonous weed depending on how it is tended. If it is poorly tended, it is the root of the damage that we do to each other on this earth. It is the heart of war. It is the destroyer of connection and as such, it ruptures relationships. In this episode, Teal provides a protocol for conflict resolution.

I had to come back and comment on this one. After watching this about 3 times over these last couple of days, I was finally able to apply your teachings to a conflict within my relationship. My bf is in the military and puts a LOT of effort into his career, but not into our relationship (my perspective). I’m in the military too so at times I belittle his excuses for not having enough time for us. After using the change of perspective method I felt the overwhelming stresses that he deals with at work and I couldn’t imagine how I would be able to cope if I were in his shoes. We were able to come to a resolution 10x faster than usual and he expressed that he notices how much safer he feels with my willingness to understand, rather than ridicule his actions (or lack there of). Thank you so much for reading. I hope you all get to feel the same sense of great relief and happiness we feel😌 and thank you Teal (and your amazing team)❤️

This is indeed how it should be in an ideal world where everyone is self-aware. Unfortunately many people see self-examination as an attack on their identity and these are the people we are most likely to be in conflict with, people who would never get past the first step. It may work in loving families and with benign employers or friends, but when in conflict with someone damaged (e.g. borderline or narcissistic personality disordered individuals) willingness to resolve conflict is more often than not perceived as weakness to be taken advantage of. In fact getting anyone who is not extremely self-aware to stick to a final agreement is easier said than done, because people soon fall back into learnt behaviour and unconscious patterns of reacting to negative emotions. Learning to have solid emotional boundaries to avoid abuse is therefore just as important. Sadly then this kind of conflict resolution can only work with people who already have developed the humility to actively try to grow emotionally. I wonder what percentage of the general population that is.

And six years later, humanity is reaching the critical year of determining whether to keep avoiding conflict and therefore escalating to world war, or face the fear of conflict and take steps towards achieving true resolution.

Wish I'd seen this video 50 years ago. You and those supporting you have such a wealth of understanding. Seeing this...and so many of your videos in my 'down' time, have me with streams of tears for the wisdom and hope.......of meeting - somewhere in Rumi's beloved field 'between right and wrong'. I am grateful for you Teal Swan and all those who've taught me more than I ever did, could or would consciously acknowledge - from realms of little understood worlds and inexplicable time lines - into recognizing what it takes to see both the giant steps and quantum leaps it takes to live authentically, while remaining open to others and integrating ourselves toward alignment. Thank you for finding the strength and courage to share your intuitive gifts and speak with clarity and compassion...giggles and all for the often seen absurdities in it all. 💗🙏♾🔭✨

LOVE IT!!! Ironically I had a conflict to address today and listened to this clip as a guide on how to respond. I found that resolution wasn't going to occur bcuz I was the only one who wanted it. I also found sympathy for the other person bcuz they are so stuck and damaged that the ideas of this video are so far from their ability of comprehension. I also feel VERY fortunate to be elevated in my heart and spirit that I have not allowed anger and life to have robbed me from loving peace and goodness MORE than conflict and disarray. It takes two for any other Teal's advice to work; and compassion. Without compassion, we as humanity are doomed. Those of us wise enough to see this must lead and show what conflict resolution and harmony looks like!

There are some people with whom it does more harm than good to resolve conflict, but I think this is what you're talking about. You talked about this in the video you recently did about toxic spirituality. I have to be very careful about the people with whom I choose conflict resolution, since there are a lot of people out there who will throw spiritual shit at your feelings instead of just dealing with your feelings.

It was actually somewhat relieving to see so many comments about people who see that conflict resolution seems to be impossible. There are simply people who are getting what they want when they don't attempt to resolve conflicts. This is why the neurotic codependents are the ones who usually go to get help because they're the ones being used the most. For people that actually do want to resolve conflict with dignity and respect some other people who I have found helpful to study are Harville Hendrix\Imago process, Marshall Rosenberg onviolent communication, of course Byron Katie who you already mentioned and Stephen Covey\ 7 habits. If someone comes from a dysfunctional family not only do they need to change their core beliefs but they also need to find principles to live by so in order to change every individual really needs to do some research and work of sincere focus on their own inner process. A life skill I find invaluable is learning assertive negotiation skills. Swotch perspectives can be hilarious and fun if people atent defensivrly closed in right\wrong. My mom and I used to do it and often we ended up laughing which brought us closer. BTW, Eckhart Tolle helped us to not be attached to role story expectations. "Im the mom so...." A doughter is supposed to.." We would say " That's my story and I am making it up!" Then laugh.

I usually agree with you, Teal--like one-hundred percent, honestly moreover, you said that people, drowning into victim consciousness don't want a resolution with the opposing party simply because they want validation and I've been a victim by all forms of emotional abuse (shaming, gaslighting, smear-campaigning, scapegoating, isolating, 'chastising', constant, sarcastic remarks and so on) since I was insecure and I was raised by parents who were wholly insecure, had power struggles, needed constant validation, et cetera. I disagree with that statement and even tried re-watch that part after watching the entire video--although I've always wanted incessant validation myself, I did strive for a resolution with those who've abused me, in the past. I understand that I have been a powermonger (due to feelings of powerlessness), but I even--CRAVED a resolution with them I swear, to the point of resisting my own authenticity, which was my mistake. I'm not trying to play the 'martyr' here and nor am I trying to look like the 'good guy'. I think a lot of other victims also desperately wanted a resolution as well, but the other party sometimes wants to perpetuate the issue and to render us, victims to being uncommunicative. It's not always, but in many cases the opposing party (the emotional abuser) doesn't want to even care for a resolution at all. I wish you elaborated upon that point; that's all!

+Bibiana O. Wow! You just described my life with my family. It's scary how everything you describe matches my experience 100% ! Two things: "people, drowning into victim consciousness don't want a resolution with the opposing party simply because they want validation". Teal's right. My ex was exactly like this. He would simply say that he didn't want to talk about it so NOTHING was discussed let alone resolved. Frustrating ! This sounds like your parents (and mine) who did not want resolution with you. Second: "although I've always wanted incessant validation myself, I did strive for a resolution with those who've abused me, in the past." Yes, you craved validation however, you craved resolution. That, my friend, is the difference between you and parents (victims). I don't think you are a victim at all, or I should say have a victim mentality. I know this by definition and more importantly, through experience because that is EXACTLY why I used to to do with my family. You wanted resolution because you knew you weren't being listened to and validated. My opinion is that you're enlightened.

+Bibiana O. There is a mass rejection of justice.. possibly because they do not see that the function of justice is to restore balance and re-define boundaries and challenge distorted thinking and assumptions that caused people to move away from relating to the truth of their experience... Instead, it is seen as being JUDGEMENT and PUNISHMENT. I just wrote this on another post... "One of the craziest things is the realisation that there seems to be an entire movement dedicated to persuading you as the victim, to not follow your anger through and push for justice... How is this possible? Why is it so important to ignore what has been done and pretend everything is fine? What does it mean when an entire society rejects the truth of it's actions and the resulting suffering that it causes? Since when was truth the only perspective that was inadmissible? What could we reasonably expect of the future in a world where the actual experience is not taken into account in making plans, assessing progress, reviewing performance? Not only is it not taken into account but actively suppressed... Who the fuck is deciding this shit? Why are people accepting it? What do they expect to gain? Justice is only revenge because it's the last thing they want... It is ignoring their wishes as they no doubt ignored yours. They should simply not be so foolish as to have their own happiness or state of mind defined by your actions... I think that's their own firm belief... Justice is restorative and it serves a purpose for all mankind. The 'karma' alternative of sitting back, saying nothing and allowing them to drive themselves over the cliff is perhaps more attractive to some but.... they'll be taking the rest of us with them... " It's a process that's ongoing and currently subject to massive amounts of propaganda and psychic pollution. The power of non participation is an easy option for those in fear or under the executive control of their ego.

The information you give is very useful just like Marshall Rosenberg's Non-Violent Communication techniques. However, deep-rooted conflicts are very difficult and a lot of times impossible to resolve. Look at Middle East, Russia,North Korea as well as personal conflicts on smaller scale. People have to be ready and willing for this to occur.

Okay... "You're trapped in a victim mentality, and you don't wanna resolve conflict." I picture a horse tied to a plastic chair. You've been tied down by lack of desire to find resolution until you think you're tied down to being a victim. BOTH of these ideas have to change, or both don't. You can't escape one or the other, you have to address both. I'm not trying to talk down to you, but I was in the same boat, but you have to resolve the conflict to stop being a victim. To forever be is victim is to forever be wronged. To be a survivor is to resolve the issue or conflict, and move on. You'll never move on if you can't let the past go. Honestly, which do you want? "I wanna be a victim and never move on." Or "This happened, I've resolved it, and I'm going to move on. Someone else's opinion does not have to be my reality." The is yours, talk.

The thing is to see where the trigger is from which the energy within you/me arises..that which pushes away and does not see the all one ness. It is a difficult process as we are resistant so often to such an engagement and do not wish to engage at all/...This is entirely understandable but true healing will never occur without the entering into the fire. It is so easy to see such energy as absolutely NOTHING to do with us but maybe thatswhy the universe perhaps has allowed such people to ''govern us' ..because we are unwilling to heal this part of the collective consciousness and integrate such energy by owning it as a manifestation of the wounding..(ie Hitler as an example..He would not have held sway without being the embodiment of a group wounding)

Should conflict resolution be a priority over removing abusive people from your life (especially after having manifested illness)? If the other party is unwilling to understand and does not fully desire resolution and we cannot find a unbiased third party, do we abandon the effort? thank you for this

+bloodroses Funny -- that's exactly what I was thinking when I watched this. I currently have a situation where I have REPEATEDLY attempted to resolve conflict with someone, originally believing that they wanted to do the same. Now I realize that they have no intention of resolving conflict. They are committed to being 'right', manipulating, lying and abusing. At some point there is no point in continuing to try. If someone isn't consciously capable of operating with integrity and has a pattern of abuse, you have to let them go. THAT is the conflict resolution in those cases!

+bloodroses good question! I think we should abandon the effort but its very hard to do. :(

+bloodroses Absolutely, it is about taking care of your self - an act of self love to let them go. I believe it is possible to work on resolution without the other participating in for instance psycho drama, gestalt therapy, project sanctuary (by Silvia Hartmann) or a personal inner communication process that you make up as you go. You can talk to their higher selves or their projected selves inside of you or whatever else that works. It can really make a difference - and in some cases even affect the abusive, neglective part in a positive, transformative way. It's worth the effort! It can also be tried before you give them up entirely.

+bloodroses I think there are times when the best solution is to remove certain people from your life. It is nice when we can resolve conflicts and live happily ever after. However as +Kelly Amrit mentioned, sometimes getting away from the person is the conflict resolution.

+PhilBo goto dream moods dot com, it will help you decipher what your dreams mean, usually a dream has very literal meanings and/or very complex ones.. Mostly very literal, I had a dream about her too, but I was just looking at her from her being on stage and me just looking at her. Dreams bring messages

Do you have videos where you explain why you think conflict is undesirable? I notice a lot of our videos make internal sense of one accepts a few basic premises, but I never see you explain why your viewers should accept those premises. This isn't an attack, I'm just wondering if you have made such videos?

I have a conflict scenario I haven't been able to solve: She is full (coz she ate something she really liked happily) and he prepares delicious food for her, that he wants her to eat now, coz later it'll get cold and not that savoury. Do respond with some win-win suggestions for both him n her.

Should all conflicts be resolved or is it sometimes appropriate to leave them unresolved?
@GrahamMilkdrop
@GrahamMilkdrop 8 жыл бұрын
+David Maxfield Conflict that seeks no resolution is not "conflict", but "diversity". When one aspect of diversity is imposed upon or restricted, it highlights an underlying imbalance or lack of acceptance in the whole... Conflict is the process by which this is restored. It IS resolution by another name. Avoidance of it causes escalation and a greater sense of imbalance.

If your question is "I feel I would love to resolve this conflict about X situation, how do you feel about it?" - and their reply "No, I don't want resolution." that is their choice. in which case, we keep working on our own side of the street. xx

Hey teal not sure if you'll see this but I'm having a hard time in life with a situation. I really like someone romantically and I've been thinking about this person everyday for about four or five months. Literally all day everyday and can never seem to grow a pair and actually talk to them. Come to find out today they are moving half way across the us in less than a week. So basically I feel like it will never happen but I want it to SOO bad. Anyway I was hoping for some advice, even if there is anybody out there who can help me find out spiritually why this happening. It really hurts me and I don't think it should being as though I've never spoke to this person. Well I hope someone replies thanks.
