We can all agree that Soldier's 'Dear God' reaction is one of his most memorable dialogues apart from all his hilarious other dialogues

The fact that all of the mercs involved in training scout are so excited for him , as preparing a date between him and miss pauling gives them a purpose for the last 3 days of their lives

Something nobody ever seems to comment on is that when Scout tells Spy he's going to put on the date himself, Spy's face twitches as though he is doing everything in his power to avoid smiling proudly.

I've seen this many times, but even to this day, soldier never fails to make me smile.

What makes Spy helping Scout somewhat endearing is that you find out in the comics Spy is his dad.

Spy spending all his days before death helping Scout can prove that he's a very good dad, not just a mere French assassin like people always think. If you have good skill at analyzing TF2 lore, you will realize it has a lot of deep meanings even in such a chaotic world like TF2 universe.

It's funny you mentioned Adult Swim. Valve actually had a deal for a series on Adult Swim and this was the pilot (if I remember correctly) Cartoon Network wanted 'X' amount of episodes by a certain date, and Valve stubbornly refused, it was their way or the highway and unfortunately the deal fell through.

Playing this game before the update, all the bread getting teleported in the game was one of the funniest things ever 🤣 I don't think they gave context of the bread until the video actually came out

Team fortress 2 was a wonderful game, glad you guys are covering it!

This was intended to be the pilot of a full adult swim series. Unfortunately Valve (the game dev and creators of these shorts) couldn't keep up with the deadlines and so adult swim dropped it. Such a huge opportunity missed thanks to Valve's notorious untimeliness.

Though they're not officially made or supported by Valve, I highly recommend the TF2 short films made by The Winglet, especially The Red, the Blu & the Ugly. Ambitious and high-quality, with some good additional voice acting and story.

Fun fact: this was supposedly the pilot for a canceled adult swim TV series order for this game series, however, due to missed deadlines and not trying to follow the rules adult swim had given Valve, they canceled it.

I know people are going crazy with suggestions, so I’ll simply…bring up a series to possibly…look into. This one is a more series tf2 fan-made series, but it’s called “Once Upon a Time in 2fort” And it’s sequel series, “Ghosts of the Past.” Really delves deep into more serious things and not as much comedy but is still really interesting!

I’d recommend watching End of the Line. It’s a fan made short, but it tells an engaging story using nothing but music and body language. Plus the animator flexes on us near the end

in the last few seconds you can actually see pyro playing with a smaller tumour filled piece of bread, like it was a dog.

Expiration Date was supposed to be apart of a whole season of TF2 episodes. I can't remember why, but the season was canceled but they had this episode basically done. Shame to think of what could've been.

It bothers me as a medic main that the medic didn't choose to uber the pyro, who would likely have made the most use of it, rather than the heavy who could be about as effective at a farther range against such a large enemy.

The reason soldier teleported too much bread , is at the begining when engineer said "u know what that means right ? " , soldier said "we can't teleport bread anymore" and engineer asnwer "no , you can teleport as much bread as u want" and soldier took that personaly XD

I love that the BLU Soldier’s corpse is on the roof of their van at the beginning, like 1:28. He dies in every Meet the Team short, and he even manages to when his team isn’t really in the video

I think this was Rick May's last short voicing the soldier, even though he's "screaming" voice lines are done by another actor because at the time, he had Throat cancer I believe and was not allowed to scream in his voicework.

you might have been told but sadly in 2020 the voice actor for solider pasted away due to covid his name was 'rick may' and in game they had a statue built for him and a event for his death glad to see this community is still loving the game

TF2 is coming back a bit, I remember my childhood revolving around this game. So much fun and it felt so much better playing the characters having a knowledge of their amazing back stories.

Fun Fact: The Scout's canon name is Jeremy. He got that name because back in the day there was a popular tf2 KZfaqr called Jerma985 (who's real name is Jeremy and is now a twitch streamer) who resembled Scout a lot. Not only did he look like Scout but he was also from Boston and sounded similar as well. During tf2's prime, Jerma along with his friend Star_ were the 2 biggest and oldest tf2 content creators out there and many jokes they made involving the game are still popular today (in fact, a newer tf2 KZfaqr, in a video, said he was hiding in "super secret" which is a joke spot Jerma made up in a tf2 map and the friend he was playing with instantly knew where that was because they saw the video Jerma made 6 years ago). When you both laugh at the same time it sounds like a laughtrack, probably a combination of your laughs being generic (not a bad thing) and there being a bit of am echo in your room which makes it sound like its at a theatre or stage thing.

The closest thing we got to their interactions is from the comics that Valve made and those are great

The "for some reason" as to why Adult Swim didn't greenlight a TF2 TV series, is because Valve couldn't get a project out on time even if their lives depended on it! They took too long to finish the pilot episode, and Adult Swim pulled out.

There's a lot of fan made SFM/Gmod TF2 animations. I'd reccomend watching the Unusual Troubles series, if you like surreal comedy

Unfortunately, because of the passing of Rick May, Soldier's VA, we're probably not going to be able to get a full Team Fortress 2 show. If we do, either Soldier isn't going to talk, or he is going to have a different VA.

The series was canceled, but they change it for a comic series. So the story continues in it. Even if the there is no serie, there is an infinite amount of animation of tf2, some are as good as the one you just saw and even those of lower quality are entertaining. If you want more of tf2, you won't run out of content. Sadly, soldier voice actor Rick May died. His voice still live on in the game and in the many animations that use it. Rest In Peace Rick May.

It's interesting that you'd suggest making a series out of this. Back in the days, Valve actually made a series of comics about the mercenaries, also adding a bunch of other characters and lore that is often referenced in the game or in these short videos. The devotion that the developers and the community poured into this game is something truly unique. You're definitely right in saying that the genre still has potential after all this time. Blizzard has proven this by creating Overwatch, which is basically a modern version of the game. They, however, failed in building such a dedicated and supporting community as TF2 still has it to this day. I always thought creating something like a Team Fortress 3 would be impossible, since TF2 as a game simply is one of a kind. Your suggestion of something like a TV series really would have the potential to bring the whole Team Fortress genre to a new all-time high, though. It might even give it enough of a boost for someone to come up with a new game idea.

They where gonna make a movie based of this game the meet the team videos where demos and this was gonna be the first episode of the movie but it was so hard to make that they cancelled it but instead they made comics which they have yet to complete since we have been waiting for 4 years for the last part

From what I've heard, Team Fortress was at one point eventually going to have it's own TV series. Unfortunately, It seems as if it's been cancelled.

Valve may be persuaded to produce a second episode, but we all know there will never be an episode three.
