The thing Dhoni did in 2011 World cup final by promoting himself up, Kohli should have taken similar decision by sending Dhoni at no.5 or atleast 6...and not surely at 7 as he did. That could have made a difference.

So, it was Gary who asked MS to promote himself directly, it wasn't Sachin or Sehwag directly as mentioned by Sehwag in his previous interviews. And the final decision was taken by MS alone.
