Thing is: The G-Class (at least this older, more "old school"-one) isn't an SUV. It's a proper off-road car that's been fiddled with for on-road use. I've driven old G-classes, back when nobody in their right mind would've wanted one to look posh. The interior was totally utilitarian - very similar to the Sprinter's ancestors that Mercedes built back then. But despite the tacked-on luxuries, you can still see and feel that history in this more current model. In that regard, the G was very similar to the Defender.

What the actual f-ck ??? This car is outdated and ridiculously expensive and gets 21/30. The Phaeton, which is (or was at the time ) a luxurious, ultra high-tech, high performance, refined and relatively inexpensive saloon, gets 18/40. And by the way, may I point out that they tested the G-Wagon off road, where it was designed to work well. On the other hand, they didn't even drive the phaeton all together to get a sense of the comfort and refinement.

It's cool, but not as cool as a defender for me. The issue with the G class is its price, its in the super luxury price point, and just isn't super luxurious. It's a good off roader, but no better than cars half its price. I love them, but also don't see the point in them. It's just not an 80k car.

it is the best off- road and the most stupid vehicle of all times, so many years they make it so ''glamourous'' and expensive that makes it useless. That vehicle makes me mad , every time i see one on the streets it is super clean with some rich ass driving it only in the city. why they dont make a cheap version like some military g -wagons for the off road enthusiast? To drive 80000 off road you have to wipe your tears with euros every time you hear a noise. So everyday the off road history is dying on tarmac by the hand of some rich barbie going for shopping
