@@peterdevit3523 This is the very question I keep asking . How does this reduce the stress on a transom . ?? I mean use the mega lock on the stock engine same thing right ?? Short of using the old style that you push against the trailer these are not transom savers .

RMP is not manufactured in the USA. That’s a dealbreaker for me. DD26 is manufactured in Arizona.

Call Dave at DD26 and let him give you the run down on the actual physics in play. We thought the same exact thing as you until seeing some high speed footage of the old school stick vs the DD26 of a rig going down the road. We plan on making a video in the future on this.

Only appears that way. A trailer induces a lot of shock stress into an engine. And the larger the jackplate, the more a traditional jackplate will cause the gearcase to wedge away from from the hull. We've ran v6 engines on very lightweight racing hulls for decades. 20ft hulls, some are sub 500lbs with v6 engines on 12" plates. Hulls 30 yrs old and not a gel crack yet. If a hull can't handle a rip across the lake, or worse yet getting big throttle in a trimmed position while putting on the trailer then it won't handle the road. The math, physics have been applied to this, checked with dial indicators. Regular transom savers are minimal help at best, and can be harmful.

Was the on the road comparison video ever posted . getting ready to purchase a motor support this week for my 200 Mercury 4 stroke. ? My old style transom saver is wearing out the rubber pads on the saver constantly

With the size of these transoms today and the material they are made of you could hang 4 outboards off of the back of them and they'd be fine. No need for the old gear anymore in our opinion

The only transom saver in this video is the first one he showed the rest are only hydraulic saver cause like you said all the weight is still on transom the first one helps save transom and hydraulics

No you're correct, if we were traveling long distances we would use the long transom saver.

@@TeamMarineService So if we are running a couple of hundred miles across the bad roads of Louisiana are you saying we should run the old style as you just mentioned to JimmyH? I was trying to get a way from the long style and was using the Yamaha wedge, but it gives support on one side of the engine, you still have the weight of the motor/movement on the transom of the boat. The DD26 and the motor mate still allows all of the weight to sit on the transom and reactions while driving is directly transferred to transom. So do we use the DD26 when fishing local and use the long style tied into the trailer for longer hauls? I have my finger on the trigger, but don't know which one to go after now? Thanks for any help guys....

From what I’ve always read, stern drives don’t need support because the trim systems are heavy duty and the drive is the only thing it is supporting unlike an outboard.

Be glad to help analyze the dynamics here, you also need to understand what the brace on the trailer your roller ball is on can handle. In my case I would do more damage to motor/transom and trailer with the old style than using the DD26. Be a great physics problem to analyze forces.

Oh we have a suspicion that when you see our upcoming slow motion video of the DD26 vs OG transom saver on a boat getting pulled down the road you will understand and we hope you'll be sitting front row when we give our physics lecture!

The motor acts as a big lever that torques the transom as you're going down the road. Hitting potholes exacerbates this. The DD26 supports the motor in a position that has far more support, reducing the mechanical advantage that the motor has as it exerts force upon your transom when bouncing while trailering. Hooking up your motor to your trailer with a traditional transom saver will only serve to transmit additional vibrations from the trailer onto the motor and back to your transom.

You come speaking like you have facts or scientific data when in reality you don't really know shit. No matter what you do the weight of the motor will be on the transom, an old school transom saver doesn't shift all the weight to the trailer that's not possible is holds a very small amount of weight and it ampies vibration to your trailer........But you seem to know everything
