They are, and they seem so out of place at a cooking competition. Especially at this level. BUT it's tradition, and they have always been a part of the comp.

Paul bocus dreamed to see one day the USA win the competition. Sadly he passed away before seeing it. his dream was to spead the wonderfull world of cooking everywhere in the world.

Yes they won. So even if they made mistakes, that was a historical moment for them.

@@andrasjokuti it certainly was. beside silver in 2015 i think, and 2017 gold are the only medals for USA... I love watching the competition. Its great.. I wish they would film a series for Netflix showing the teams training and preparing for the competition. That would be great TV

Presentation is important so they have to choose the prettiest one for the judges. They can take points off and they've worked too hard, so congratulations you guys!
