World juniors 2024 gold medal game today was an instant classic. Sweden vs usa highlights were nuts but the actual game was even better I hope you caught it on tsn. The win for Team usa gold medal wjc 2024 in sweden won't soon be forgotten, and I'm already counting the days until next year's world junior hockey tournament in ottawa. Ryan leonard celebration and isaac howard stole the show, but this year had plenty of world juniors highlights that were memorable. For reactions and recap of nhl highlights today , coverage of hockey games and daily news as well as more including world juniors gold medal highlights usa vs sweden - Subscribe.

@@KSmusiclessons Not entirely sure, but i heard yesterday, the US have around 500.000 licensed junior hockey players. Sweden have in total about 75.000 licensed players, that is Adults, womens league, the lot. So surely there is always a bit of that 'David vs. Goliath' scenario in there whenever sweden faces Canada or the US.. :)

If the Swedish fans were able to draw that much reaction and showboating from the foreign teams like USA, they should be proud cause it just means they're great fans and got the attention of the players on ice. Take it as a compliment. But USA was surprisingly good and prepared this year, I don't think anyone was going to stop them. Ryan Leonard is going to be BIG TIME, can't wait to see him in a Caps sweater on a line with big Tom Wilson, they're going to be like the new Hanson brothers.

As for a player that impressed me the most - Servac Petrovsky. We expected Sykora, Mesar or Dvorsky to be good, but Petrovsky stole the show. Gajan was also brilliant from that team. Other than that I think many sleep on Lane Hutson from team US. The kid had monstrous minutes and didn't ever look tired.

People also sleep a lot on Lane Hutson's d partner, Ryan Chesley. Not an offensive dman but a really, really strong defender and can absolutely fucking eat minutes. Only had less time than Hutson on ice bc he doesn't do powerplays but as a caps fan im so happy to have him in our pipeline

I was quite impressed also with the two 17 year olds of team Finland, Helenius and Hemming, they played 3rd or 4th line with limited time on ice but they did really well in that protection/shutdown role. The other one most sleep on for team USA is Frank Nazar, his assists are so good, thrilling to think Chicago will soon have him feed apples to Bedard while Gajan guards their net.

As a Sweden, congrats to the US for a well deserved win. Felt like they were the best team in general this year. In this game they played well tactically and manage to shut us down going into their zone very well. Countless times they pushed us into going in to their zone on the left side along the boards which always fizzled out into nothing. We needed to find some way to break that up, play in the middle, take a chance with a deke into center ice, move the play to the other side, something. Also unlucky on the 2+2 high sticking penalty. Yes, a high stick, but the defenseman was pushed on his shoulder going into the situation, that probably made his motion to bat the puck out of the air exaggerated, unlucky situation which cost valuable time. Funny seeing al the juvenile celebrations, felt like that was a thing throughout many teams, but it's the World Juniors so it kind of belongs. :) Bad form by the US to start a fight at the end of the game, cmon just finish the game already, no need to be complete jerks. Appearantly many players of these two teams had faced off before in other juniors tournament, it was suggested that some bad blood had carried over from those times maybe.
@redhunter68
@redhunter68 3 ай бұрын
Pretty sure it was not the US that started the fight in the end of that. Refs were holding on to the American player while a swede tried hilarious to make a connection only to miss nearly all his shots, only for 2 swedes to double up on another American player and just pull him down to the ice. Just one of several embarrassing moments for team Sweden in that game. Fans going nuts over a clean hit, the list goes on. Sadly, for Sweden, the best team won rather dominantly.

As an American, the Swedes really really well. Their style and strategy was played to perfection, imo. I am actually surprised the US was able to match it because they normally don't play that style. US was just slightly winning the battles more, just slightly but enough for an edge. Lucky bounces didn't favor either team. It was clean skill on both sides.

Really good tournament. If USA did this to Canada, I'd be pretty ticked off for a bit... but overall, I love when hockey gets this kind of spice to it. A little drama, some personality, some pride, heroes and villains... just adds another dimension to a game already packed with excitement. And when it's an international tournament that is only in the world's eye for 2 weeks, it's high stakes but it's also easy to turn it off mostly until we start ramping up into the next year's tournament.

Call it Tkachuk-esque or whatever you like; all I know is the Caps play lights out hockey when they put grit at the center of their game and this guy could get us there in a real way for the group of young talent we’ve got now. Also, I wanna say congrats to the Swedes for creating such a fantastic hockey environment. What a tournament. A shame I wasn't able to watch the games since I was in Wisconsin during the regular season, and the playoffs since it was either too early in the morning or it happened while I was working. But of course, I kept an eye out. USA was so good, and as soon as Canada lost to Czechia in the first round (which is definitely the biggest shocker, even to this day. Like, I was expecting a USA and Canada Gold Medal game), I knew this would be the year for the US, and they proved me right. Congrats to USA for winning gold! You made America proud! Even if I didn't watch the gold medal game, I am glad I got to witness USA winning gold (I will post my reaction to that game soon).

Ah, shucks. Canada lost. Now I'll get ahead of this. I'll get ahead of this. If Canada, like every year pretty much in the world juniors, if they had their actual roster, they're going to be the favorites. I think the only player that the United States is missing is Logan Cooley. Obviously, that's an enormous impact. This U. S. Team's loaded though, without him." Canada is missing a boatload. And I mean, when it's Conor Bedard being the main one, it's like. It's kind of hard to chirp their junior team considering..." Just thought I'd post Ray whitneys thoughts here

Axel Sandin Pellika a bit of a disappointment for me. Sure, scored 2 goals in the semi+quarter but did not play with the swagger I thought he’d do. He’s better in the SHL than he was in the WJC. Now injured for 2 months, I think. The one that impressed me was Otto Stenberg who quietly put up point per game numbers while playing third line minutes. From having a hard time to even score a point in the SHL to make such an impact at the WJC. Born in 2005, has to preform next year for Sweden in Ottawa. Lastly, that crowd was insane. Goosebumps all game.

kind of funny how USA and Sweden and their 6-2 gold medals matched the final score.

I played hockey all my 64 year life. Hockey needs more fights. Hip checks. It's been pussified over the decades to bad. Bring back the old big bad Bruins and Canadians rivalrioes

Watching it live i hated the cellys because i was trying to hold onto some hope and that wasn't helping. I have no real issue with it now though, game is long over, all my hope was smashed into bits long ago

Personally,I think they took it to far,Sweden has beautiful people,beautiful country and they put on a amazing event,let alone team Sweden had a amazing run.I was cheering for them,so at the end of all this DO show alittle constraint towards the host fans,,it does show class. Of course celebrate,you won,anyway,

The Swedes and their booing everyone and everything that wasn't Swedish prompted the reaction from team USA. You can have that much disrespect and expect that their won't be any push-back. That, and these are 18 year old kids. IMO, the blown kiss was gold...literally.
