I've bought and flipped 6 bassboats. In a private sale, You can always tell if someone takes care of there shit but how there garage is clean and if there truck is clean inside and out. But all means still do all listed in the video

Awesome video. I am hoping to get into a bass boat in the next 2 years and it's a scary thought because of how people take care of stuff. Not trying to break the bank but want something that has 90% of what I would want.

I bought a 97 champ with a soft spot in the floor, trashy wiring, damage cracks in the transom(solid) with bad gel coat and starts odd. For 5500 it’s a great deal granted I’ve upgraded graphs and fixed wiring but the soft spot is overrated it ain’t that bad. Love the ride of the camp so in the end it’s a used boat, you should nitpick but realize it ain’t gonna be perfect

Dude!!!! Great GREAT VIDEO!!! I'm still new to boats (less than 5 years) and it's taken me some HARD LIFE LESSONS and this video would have saved me tons of headaches and $$$ if I had this when I started! I'll be sharing with anyone that I find wanting to buy a boat for SURE!!!

This is a great video. I love that you mention that the dealer should have the service records and problems/cons. I would love to mention if the dealer does not give you the service records problems/cons Before you have to ask, their professionalism is not to the quality of other dealers(such as TEAM MARINE SERVICE). If they don't offer you this info before you have to ask for it, pls move on to the next dealer. This is one of the best videos I have seen on this topic in a very long time. Great work.

Made a mistake and bought a 97 ranger r82 without floating it! Ofcourse the seller said the merc 150 efi ran like a top. Turns out a power pack was out and the fuel pump was weak. Got the issues fixed and turned out to be a very good motor but goes to show you how much trouble it can be without testing a rig. Learned my lesson for sure

What about a video of repower with a used engine versus repowering with a new engine? I have a 1997 TR21 with a 1997 Mercury 150hp EFI. It is the original engine those first TR21 in 97 came with a 150hp versus a 225hp. It runs good but is it worth repowering or buying a newer boat?

I'm on my 3rd used bass boat from Market Place in 3 years each with a different motor (Evinrude E-tec, Mercury 200 EFI, and Mercury Pro XS 4 stroke). I can confidently say I've learned more above repairing my boat than I have bass fishing and I'm pretty good at fishing now. 🤣😂

That be great I’m from East Tennessee and I own a little 2000 triton 170 premier with its original Johnson 115, good boat for me maybe looking to upgrade motor to a 150 cheaper to for me than buying a new one that I’d have to sale a kidney on black market to afford it lol. Which brand would you go with mercury or Suzuki ?

Andy should you have loose bolts and some moisture in the transom and no water comes out barely or a tiny tiny but ... if its moist but the transom seems strong , no cracks no flexing. Is it bad to put heat lamps on a transom for say 2 to 3 weeks dry it out seal it up and keep rolling ?

Spot on.....check bilge area, bottom of the boat, trailer, bearing seals, brakes, wiring, battery age, condition of the boat wiring, test switches, make sure engine shifts properly, look for stress cracks in the corners of the interior, and transom, check lower unit for leakage etc. Test pumps and bilge. Basically all wear items. If looking at used make sure it's not tied up in a divorce..or chapter 13, etc!! I made that mistake after driving 6 hours and flashing a wad of cash and an offer to have the lady say they are going thru a divorce and she'd have to take to her lawyer.

Great video guys!!! Got question. I thought this was a steal. I found a boat, 89 gambler. But motor looks brand new, he bought it brand new in 2012, it's a mariner 150. I gave 1000 for it. Alot stuff needs fixed on inside. Almost everything. Is it worth the trouble, or sell motor take the L , and get another up to date boat??????

This is a great video. You do an awesome job on these. I was looking at used bass boats. I have a jon boat and I know it will be more for a bass boat but how much more. What expenses will there be? What will the average fuel cost be or insurance. Should I get towing insurance? Is there anything I'm missing?

Fuel cost really just depends how you drive cause in my champ I can burn 15 gallons in a day pedal to the medal or I can go the same distance and burn 5 gallons cruising. As for insurance it shouldn’t be too expensive. And it depends on the engine whether you need towing insurance my old 2 stroke has never left me stranded but I’ve been towed 2 times with my grandpas 4 stroke so it is case by case

Im kinda worried about my motor now lol. Its a 2019 motor and i only have like 65 hours on it. I bought it new. I run it often but i dont run for a long time. Might run a mile down the river and drop the trolling motor.

Just bought an 02 Triton TR-20 with an OX66 225 for 9500. No rips, carpet needs a clean and so do compartments. Motor ran great popped right off. Jack plate needs new relay. I’m hoping I didn’t make a mistake here without a mechanic looking at it but the deal was good. What do you guys think, was the test run enough?

Hey bud am on the market for q bass boat I’ve been looking thru Facebook Market ect seeing it what’s out there what do you recommend for a starter used boat? I’ve ran into a 2001 nitro with low hours for 5k not much info he told me that he bought for a year and never ran it only 4 months after he bought it says it’s been sitting for a year.

How many hours are too many? 2015 ranger with a 2015 Opti might have a few hundred hours. When someone says, "never had an issue" but it has 700 hours I get scared. That means to me it's about to pop. But what about different motors? 4 strokes?

I fucking love your channel!! I feel like I’m an expert. I am on the search of my second bass boat. My first boat was a 3000 dollar Glasstream LOL number 4 worst boat on your list of 10 worst boats. But it was my first boat and got all the dings out of my inexperience driving. Thanks for all the info!! 1999 nitro 700 lx with force power 120 that's lost comp on 1 cyl, 130 on the other three. Thry want $2500. Sounds good to me.

Now one thing about older used boats in Florida outside or under a lean to. Mud daubers pack up the water tube. If your selling your old pride n joy clean that tube out. Now if your looking at an older boat for a project maybe. The guy says it’s been sitting for a year he pops that cowling off watch for wasp 🐝 coming out

Receipts for the oils and knowing a rough date on when ya changed it. That's kinda a "in good faith" and trust thing

I printed out a few sheets of a generic maintenance log I googled. Record, sign and initial any work I do myself. I keep it in a binder with any service receipts from a shop, or major accessory purchases.

Love your videos and value your opinion. I'm looking at a 1996 polar craft bass america boat. It's 17ft long. 60hp Mariner engine. Good flooring etc. Cosmetically it's nice. Their asking 3500 for the boat. If the boat is sound, is that a fair price. It's a private sale from local person. Just want your opinion. Thanks pal

I fished 40 mph wind gust 2 to 3 foot white caps keep good bilge pumps and the water mostly goes right back out mostly
