This is a how to on mounting a set of 285/70/17 KO2 tires to e jeep grand cherokee wk 2007-2010. I have seen a lot of misconceptions out ther eabout what it takes to run these tires on this platform. i have trailed it, daily it, and towed with it in its current form. I preforms flawlessly.
Add a 2"Spacer or puck lift, Trim the fuel tank skid, One inch wheel spacers, and a pinch seam mod front and rear. Nothing that cant be taken car of in a solid day of work in the driveway with minimal tools.
Hope this help some of you as the platform is becoming more and more popular.
Thank you for being here, Let us know if there is anything we can do to improve the channel.

Thanks a million. my back rear right tire was rubbing on the trail and I knew what to do thanks to you. I also checked out the gas tank area that you mentioned you trimmed as well and looks like mine is touching as well at full droop. I'm going to have to trim that next. Also when I was doing the rear fenders I had that song playing in my head the whole time "ooohhhh ohhhhhh ooooohh oooooohhh" :) thanks again

I went with a 3.5" lift kit w/1.25" wheel spacers. (2005 JGCL) 285/70/R17 on the factory wheels. No rub.

little advise for folks doing this, get some flex seal and paint it on thick before you hammer over pieces, then when knock flat go over top, yes its slightly messy but the seal is perfect
@RideRevival_Outdoor
@RideRevival_Outdoor Жыл бұрын
i would NOT use flex seal. use a proper automotive seam sealer. or rubberized undercoating. far mor R&D for this application that flex seal.

@@RideRevival_Outdoor I will agree that using the best when you find out is the best path, in the long run quality over everything. I just couldnt get a lot of those products at the time and honestly it does go on thin but it really penetrated and then I gave many coats to make it thick. That stuff you have though is pretty sticky and Im wondering if you did a double whammy type thing with the thin flex seal that penatrates first let dry and then this product over and thick........ cheers im gonna go over everything with this because I can order it now

@@tonymengela3575 nope, i went over everything step by step. some seam sealer are thinner. the 3m is a lot thinner, but works much the same. id not hesitate to use either 3m or dynatron. make sure you get all the old stuff off with a wire wheel or something 1st. then reapply. best of luck! hope it work out for you.

Do you need the wheels spacers to fit these tires? I have a 09 overland hemi and I’m looking to fit 285/70r17s, great video too btw!

its going to depend on wheel and offset. i could have gotten away as little as a 10mm spacer, but wanted to get them out a bit. hence the 1 inchers. if i were a betting man, id say yes, a spacer in one form or another will be needed.

I’m running 265/70-17 on 17x9” M/T Sitebiter II with -12 offset they are 55mm out the fenders!!! So how does you offset 44.45 PLUS (minus) the 1” spacers (=offset 24) AND 285 tires fit INSIDE the fenders??? I can not for the love of the lord make the math add up!? Please help!

I really think its about looking good more than a performance. I have a 2009 WH JGC diesel and I would never go to these lengths and similarly I cannot see the sense of climbing over giant boulders or headlight deep mud holes for fun, it just shows me they have no respect for their vehicles or too much disposable cash, let alone the time one would have to put in repairs and worse for me Cleaning the MUD off, after a trip. Encroaches too much into BBQ or Beer time. Hey but thats just me.

I really like your WK. I have a very similar 2 in budget lift which I am currently installing. Any tips or tricks on reinstalling the front spring assembly. I tried using a spring compressor to get it past the upper control arm, but I am struggling.

install the top 1st, then secure the lower fork. might have to pop the steering TRE and or the sway bar off both sides to get enough droop out of the front to do so. i do remember struggling with this a bit. take a breath, grab a brew. come back at it, she will go. best of luck! thanks for the props.

Hey Team Ride. Im looking at a good local deal on some 285 60 18 blue rhinos. I have an 09 grand cherokee laredo v6; wondering if a 3" lift and wheel spacers would allow for me to get these tires on. Anything I should know?

Why not rolling those fenders with old hot rod trick and use a bat? It would keep it’s structural strength better than sliced.
@RideRevival_Outdoor

because thats a good way to ruin a lot of your body work, and not accomplish much more. you cant get the seam down flat, and you will wave the quarter panel really bad. like you said, old school. I have a Proper fender roller in shop.

How’s the jeep holding up ? Meaning stock upper control arm ?
@RideRevival_Outdoor
@RideRevival_Outdoor 6 ай бұрын
well, it was due for suspension before the lift and tires. it did well for 3 years. last january, it got a full suspension package. stock control arms, but i went with an upgraded upper ball joint from TXR, it has been fine since. and we have done some more moderate trails with it than ever before. still glad we did it all, even if the thing is a money pit LOL.
