Here are the current mods and specs of my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have a few other things planned, but mostly maintenance items. I will be sure to outline them as they come up. Let me know if I left anything out! Thanks for watching!

One HUGE mod/upkeep deal that our Jeep WK's need is a supreme rotor/brake disc pad set that can dissipate all of that heat that causes the Jeep's to burn through brakes & rotors so much. I found a good complete kit online for $400 which includes all new calipers, slotted/drilled rotors for better heat dissipation & ceramic brake pads also, which are better for soaking up heat. This $400 Kit includes painted calipers I think too, red last time I looked. It's worth looking into. Too much weight & the constant braking after awhile, for Jeep's, it's unlike most cars, we gotta replace these things sooner than we would for another car.

Besides the obvious mods to do, there are other smaller tweaks to modify for more performance gains that you'll have to search around the net for to find out. I got them all saved on my hard-drive but have no where to post here to share. Anyway, good job.

You Jeep looks great and keeps improving. A good way to care for the leather part of those seats is to use a natural bristle brush and some saddle soap. You can find some by the shoe polish in Walmart for around $3. Just use a damp brush and wipe with a damp cloth, then use cream conditioner. I personally like the stuff made by Autoglym. You can usually find it on Amazon and a bottle will last the life of several cars. I would avoid the cheap stuff that's widely available like Lexol, as I personally find it useless, and short lived, protection wise. Also, you should be able to find a new drivers side seat that matches at a you-pull-it salvage yard for very little money. A leather repair shop can fix the bolster too if that's easier. That would make a great vid too. Hope you can use the info and best wishes... Almost forgot but odd as it may seem I also have a WK and an M3. :)

I have the 5.7L Hemi in the same jeep. I never feel like it needs more power. It has great low end and midrange but its not as fast as a Charger or 300 with the same engine. The 5.7L gets terrible gas milage in the Jeep too. I still love it though. It feels very nimble and light (even though it weighs 4500lbs), and It gives you alot of confidence in wet weather or muddy situations. I spent alot of money keeping it going after it reached 125,000 miles. Front drive shaft, front diff bushings and seals, both front halfshafts, new egr, fuel pump, valve cover gaskets, etc, etc. So the morel of this story is that these WK jeeps can be very very fun, but it's gonna cost ya some cash if you keep it long enough.

Ed Jackson not true. I have a 2008 hemi with 217,000 miles the only thing that's gone wrong without me breaking it is the heater core.

Did you buy it new? If you did and never had any of the problems I mentioned you are a blessed individual. Ironically I've never had heater core problems with the two WK jeeps I've owned. Only in the WJs

Ed Jackson my dad is the first owner I bought it off of him 3 years ago at 182k. Been dead reliable the whole time we owned it. Sorry about your misfortunes. Mines been lifted for over 50k and wheeled too. No issues ever.

I have a 2010 wk with the Hemi also and get good mileage with it for a v8 with this amount of power and full time 4wd, it is also waay heavier than 4500 pounds lol but a plus and one of the big reasons i got this was the small size of the Grand Cherokee, fits in tight trails. my 2002 tahoe 2wd with the 5.3 +few bolt ons didn't make as much power and got less mileage, weighed the same and was bigger so in comparison I'm glad I got a WK

Hey Brandon, I'm in the process of replacing my drivers seat, the cushion replacement is less than 200 bucks from Quirkparts on eBay, and it seems pretty easy to do yourself.. I've also seen on here that if you add more foam underneath that part of the cushion it won't happen again

You should get the Superchips tuner, K&N CAI and Magnaflow muffler. These three mods made a pretty big difference for my Hemi Grand Cherokee.

I got the same engine/generation WK1 that he has & I did an all new aftermarket performance exhaust (except for headers, those are very hard to fit in the engine bay), custom CAI, stripped 200lbs from the vehicle & so far, I'm very pleased with how much faster it got even though it's still a 4.7. The 4.7's are good engines most of the time & I think they were the bigger brother to the 5.7 Hemi's. Anyway, your suggestions to him are similar ones I gave to him on another video.

I would love to see some more off roading in the Jeep, that opening vid got me interested. The Jeep looks great and very clean (minimal wear) for that mileage. BTW did you get red paint on the rad? when you were showing the front tow hooks it looked like the radiator had some red paint on it.
@ShiftedPerspective
@ShiftedPerspective 7 жыл бұрын
I painted them separately so I doubt I got any red on the radiator...maybe it's rust. :-( Off roading is super fun, but is really hard on the Jeep. Right now I might stay away for a while since I want it to be reliable.

Nice looking jeep, I have the same set up lift on my jeep grand cherokee, question about the tire size 265/70/17 Do I need to put wheel spacers on it? or it will be good with out wheel spacers

I had some rubbing on the front control arm with no spacers. It's not terrible, but I liked the look of the spacer look anyways.

A spacer lift is $150-$200, but I also upgraded to Bilstein 4600 shocks and 32" tires. All in was about $2k, but $760 of that was tires.
