I live in the 80s because the 21st century SUUUCKS! I'm only in my 3rd year of being a teenager and i absolutely adore this band, i wish i was born in the 70s but i was born in the early 2Ks. I love spending time with my dad and listening to this great band and other music from the 70s to 90s area. Tears For Fears has had a big impact on me, taught me a lot and i really want to go see them in May (2018) in which i might be!

The 80s now is littered with everything that was great about it, but trust me, musicians also made horrible cheesy stuff back then, but it was overshadowed by the greater creative records in a way that we have never had since

The Tipping Point with them both back together to a 100% is so much better. How many Brit bands of the eighties quarrelled, had problems, separated ... so many of them top musicians and could have been giants if they had stayed together?

I just saw this interview! I don't think their body language is saying they're uncomfortable with each other - neither really seem to like interviews. These two have a long, complicated history. I read that their first contact in years had to do with real estate they co-owned. Both are talented men. I think Roland is a musical genius. Curt has the voice of an angel and he's always been beautiful. But something special creatively happens when they are together. At the end I think Curt says, "so you're telling me you lied?" Roland says, "yeah", Curt smiles and say "ok". They have a history.

You hit the nail on the head(so 2 speak) Something special happens when Curt & Roland are together. Every relationship, music or just friendship, has its trials and tribulations Egos get in the way. It takes time to sift through the everyday details of life ,fame and what ever.? Everyone should be sincerely grateful for how fortunate they are, because Life is not so easy for many in this World and that is why when folks ask " how are you doing?" I respond, " it could be better ,could be worse" Sincerely, deb

No. I didn't get that at all. It seemed to me that they were quite comfortable in their "new relationship," as it were. Lots of water under the bridge since they had parted ways. They grew, professionally and personally. "Everybody Loves a Happy Ending" would never have happened if there was still "tension," IMO.

You know a band is really good when in my opinion there greatest billboard songs such as Rule the world, Shout, etc., aren’t even on my top 5 favorite songs they made. My top 5 are: 1) Badman’s song 2) Year of the knife 3) Pharaohs 4) Woman in Chains 5) Working hour, all of which weren’t mainstream which makes them even more special.

The problem is when you're in each others faces 24hrs a day for X amount of years you lose each other and you lose yourself. As Prince once said being the conscientious observer that he was "all good things, they say, never last". Tears of fears were a great outfit but it ran its course. They did their best work when they were in their early to mid twenties!!!!! These guys were kids and ruling the world. I love that shit.

1:07 Too bad Roland, the “earnest introspective soul-searching records” you became so bloody famous for are 100x better than the happy Sgt Peppers-wannabe TFF stuff. That’s what the whole Tears For Fears name came from, the primal scream therapy. I struggle to even recall any song post-80’s either one of them did, & I’ve heard most of it, it’s a case of the sum being greater than the parts. This is why it’s better to stay somewhat hungry, too much success too soon & the egos that comes with it can spoil what was special.

Yes if they wanted to 'transcend what they did in the 80s' then they succeeded in not ever making number 1 hits again that are classics you can listen to over and over again. They did it! I get how someone can hate fame and loss of private life to a degree but really they never come close making great songs they did in the 80s together. Some good songs yeah, not great. But that's what they wanted.

Personally, I believe that Roland's best music was beginning with the Elemental album and Raoul & The Kings of Spain also phenominal but I think they got better over the years and turned out an amazing album (Everyone Loves A Happy Album) that I play a half year after I got it still on a regular basis. You can't begrudge them the fact that it's a poor state of things that many artists don't get airplay after age 40 no matter how good their music is. Fleetwood Mac, same thing, just incredible albums (and Lindsay solo albums as well ) when they were past age 40 or 50 some of the best they've ever done but no airplay at all. I don't listen to radio because of just this sort of thing. I fnd better out there not played every 40 minutes in a repeat cycle on radio.

Ryan Forester I believed in Roland's talent so much I purchased his Elemental and Raoul records, and although the Raoul didn't interest me at all, I found some solid songs in his Elemental record that I feel his genius shined thru. Also got the Happy album which incorporated some songs from earlier and new ones. Here in NYC area they have stations that play songs from different eras, like 90s or hits of the past or daytime songs, and usually listen to those. Sadly the only alternative rock station called it quits a while back and I listen to my playlists on smart device half the time. Tears for Fears, whenever any of their songs comes on, of course I turn up the radio and its magic!

yea my thoughts also, they have some newer songs that are good songs , but what they did in the 1980s that was just simply golden

Swavek Zielinski Hey, sorry you lost your alt rock station. Here in Minneapolis, we're celebrating the 10th anniversary of our public alternative radio station (that means no commercials!!!) It's 89.3 The Current. It's home-grown, the DJs are great, and they provide such a wide range of music. In one hour you could hear Tears for Fears, next to Alt-J, then Etta James. They were playing Daft Punk, Lourde, and Imagine Dragons before the bubble-gum stations got 'em! Plus, you'll hear great local (Mpls.) music. Sorry to be such an ad, but I just really love this station and, when I heard that you lost yours, I wanted to share. Go to www.thecurrent.org to live stream.
