Patricks response to the backlash was awful. No one is asking him to give celebrities a pass on their brands. People want him to review the products based on how well they're supposed to work for the intended purpose. Review a light coverage foundation as a light coverage foundation rather than a full coverage foundation. And sure there's a lot that goes into a video but its really not too much to ask for a little research to be done on a brand.

When it comes to Shane, I'm confused whether people are hating him more so because of his past content or over this jeffree star, tati Westbrook drama, if it is over his past content I say okay, I can understand that and that some would choose to not forgive him for that, although I find it more in the hands of the people he would have offended to determine that. I do think Shane had changed since that content, but again I'm not part of the black community, so it wouldn't truly be up to me. When it comes to the whole beauty community drama though that's when I will say I feel people need to get the fuck over it..I honestly think Tati's video alone sounded like master manipulation tactics, watch any body language review video on it, they say the same pretty much. Re Shane: I'm a brown person and though I would consider his old humour mildly offensive now, I don't quite mind it given the context. I don't like critiquing yesterday for not being tomorrow. His humour was based on shock value - pedophillia is shockingly gross and immoral, which is why he put that in there... to shock you. Same with race. It's like George Carlin joking about rape - that didn't make him a rapist - it was part of a comedy show. Shane's KZfaq channel was supposed to be comedic - it made sense that there was envelope-pushing comedy. It is a 110% insensitive now (given him veering into vlog style videos) - but if you saw it for what his channel was then, not so much. What did bother me was him apologizing for it in the manner he did. I had a pretty similar problem with Jenna tbh. I wish Jenna came back... though I understand that her mental health comes first, and would rather her not come back if that were the only way for her to be okay and happy. In general, I think it is fair to judge someone based on their collective contribution to the world/internet. I do not blame people (especially the new fans who didn't know about Shane's past, and Will Smith's family) for being offended by his at-best-crass-and-at-worst-hurtful-and-offensive content. But no one can deny that several people, including myself, have found deep comfort and solace in our darkest times because of him. Seeing him talk about his past and being able to laugh at it/see the good in it, really really helped me. Even though I don't like his new content and his new "friends"... and I don't like him apologizing and therefore seeming disingenuous... I don't think he should be cancelled and exiled from the internet. And I think some of his old videos (like the WHY WAS I BORN one) should still be up for people to watch. Rant over. Remember when we were cancelling Nikocado Avocado for pressuring a girl so to the point that it gave her flash backs to a time she was sexually assaulted? A celeb and non beauty influencer came along and made a makeup line that is inclusive to everyone NOT just people that beat their face with makeup.
