I love this and would love to see more like it. How does (this thing) perform in a crash? Footage of the crash and a conversation with the person talking about how it went. This is perfect, man!

Glad this worked as advertised. My Astars TechAir did not inflate when I hit the wall in Portland at the beginning of the season. My son’s did not inflate during his high side at the end of the season at Pacific in Seattle. We are moving on to RST w/InMotion. That was just our experience, and both suits weren’t worth repairing, but kept us road rash free at speed, in the dry. Disappointed, but still racing. Love the SuperTech boots.

Both my Son Max and I have been using the Tech Air Race with good results. He has had 8 deployments in three years to my 1. His has not went off in every crash but reviewing the crash I would say it did not need to deploy the times it did not. Neither of us were injured in any of the crashes. There are a lot of variables involved from the algorithm that calls for the deployment to the battery being charged. Also important to note no product is perfect. We import RST and the plan is to have the airbag suits here in the spring as the legal issues have been sorted. - Van

there are a couple videos of the vests deploying when riders are dismounting their bikes when parked, not a crash dismount.

While I am sure that is not impossible all of our experience with the Alpinestars Tech Air products has been very positive. From using this in my Son Max's MotoAmerica program, both of us using it at track days and being one of the largest retailers for them in the world we have heard hundreds of positives for any negative. Max has a total of 8 deployments over 3 years and it has protected him very well. - Van

Have to wonder why nobody else has an airbag that protects the shoulders like this one; definitely the model I’m saving money for.

Each airbag manufacturer seems to have a different philosophy on what's the best coverage. I like the A* design but I can't get any of their airbags in Central Asia - I've even got a Missile Tech-Air jacket. Even if I could get one (there are ways), servicing after a deployment would be a nightmare. The only airbag vests available to be shipped abroad seem to be Helite which focuses on thorax protection, the zone with the most potential for serious injuries. Racers on a closed circuit are more likely to go down more often on the side so shoulder protection is needed often. Maybe street riders have more head-on collisions with hard stuff at lower speeds, so a bigger bladder should be more beneficial. In the end, I had no choice except the Helite, purely for shipping overseas. Nobody else would sell airbags to me.

My son and I were at Barber for these races, it was insane with the rain. All of those riders are amazing for what they were doing out there. On a side note, we saw Max and a group hit spin ride thing in their helmets and he thought that was the greatest thing ever!

I did the same in my tech air race vest, hit the deck from nearly upright, no broken bones just sore.

I clipped the edge of the track pinned in 3rd gear on an R6. This vest worked beautifully as I hit, slid, and tumbled at about 100mph.

I have helite gp air, when i hitt the floor it was inflated before the uper body came down. So glad i had it.

Since the tech air 5 vest has race algorithm now, how well does it stack up to the tech air race vest like the one Max uses? Does A* plan on discontinuing the Race version?

The race version can deploy twice before needing service which is nice when you are racing. Both of the vests are super protective IMO with very little difference (if any) in protection. We have two of the race models and will continue to use them until something better comes along. - Van

Hey Brian and team. Do you have any info on why the alpinestars tech air race is near impossible to source? Is the production discontinued or is it the virus impact on production? Based in Europe and is not available anywhere
