I’m a Willy Nilly when it comes to heating the crank shaft. I have this god awful fear I’m going to melt the seal/gasket. On my push mowers I have gotten very lucky with just a 2 Jaw Pulley and Lube. I have a draw full of extended bolts for the puller. I’m sure my luck will run out eventually since I started working on Riders. 🫡

Donyboy has a video titled “Can I use Anti-Seize On A Small Engine Flywheel?” For the same reason, I don’t believe lubricating the shaft would be beneficial for the engine. What do you think? Seems like a good idea for future/ease of removal but could it do more harm than good? 🤔 I can see the argument go both ways.

Donnyboy is a mentor and good friend of ours. I’ve watched that video… I’ll put it to you this way… My Timemaster is going on 2-3 years with Motor Swap. I swapped a 223cc from Troy Bolt 28”. Those motors don’t have electric start. I swap to swaps fly wheels and during the swap I covered it in antiseize. Even with the upgraded battery from last year where it spins 10x faster I’m still have not experienced any issues. In the 8 years I’ve been doing this I’ve never had an issue with flywheel/blade adapter and crank pulleys coming off.
