Aaron, that should work, assuming that your phone back would still fit with the metal piece inside. Sounds like a great idea!!

I work in the car business and one of my clients actually introduced me to this product! He had two of them in his old car, and I was so intrigued by them when we were transferring everything over to his new car! He said he purchases 10-20 at a time and hands them out to his clients, has been doing this for a long time. I have since purchased 5, have sent the link to countless customers of mine, everyone is so satisfied with this mount. Not to mention the PRICE!! Absolutely cannot beat it! I also love that two different magnet shapes/sizes are sent. For an iPhone 6+, having both in your case is the best bet. That way, you can throw it up on the mount and it will grasp practically anywhere. I will continue to buy and suggest this product for all of my clients and colleagues! Great job guys!

I should have clarified- he had two because he has a work phone (iPhone 6) and his personal phone (6+) and he keeps them in the vents to the left and right of the steering wheel. Even having two cents more or less blocked, he said the hot/cold air flow has never been a problem.

This is a very smart little invention, and works like a charm. (To all those worried about magnets screwing up your phone, that is merely a myth stemmed mistakenly from the bygone era of old CRT screens. These do absolutely no damage.)

Works great but if you use a Qi charger, test the position of the metal plate by just setting it in place *before* adhering. With my Galaxy S7 and a Caseology case, I found the plate is capable of blocking Qi charging. I determined that using the small round disk in the lower third of the case won't block charging but will still provide plenty of support for holding the phone. Again, works great.

Can you stick the adhesive piece of metal to the inside of the case and it still work, so the sticky side of the metal is facing the magnet?

This product don't stay attached to the vents. A 50' drive down the road and it falls off. It might work on old style vents as shown but not my new one! After the first hour the clips that attach to the vent broke. I disassembled it and screwed it to the dash. Now it works.

How about showing how it comes off with the mount ? My holder does that. $10.00 for two would be a good deal if it worked well.

the air vents on my Hyundai Sonata are vertical not horizontal so what do you suggest?
@jillian4390
@jillian4390 7 жыл бұрын
Judith Kamins I just installed this on my Sonata today. It's a little tricky but just turn the magnet portion until there is a crevice that ends up being vertical all the way through. Then push it onto your vent.

If you don’t want to attach the magnet directly to the back of your phone, then apply a small piece of a clear plastic screen protector first (such as a Rhino Shield). Then if you don’t want the magnet any longer just remove the screen protector. Sounds like a simple workaround.

Blocks the vent! Genius! LOL Don't forget the cell phone charge cord would block even more buttons on your dash!

The vent really isn't that big of a deal.... I have had clients have one of these in each vent on either side of the steering wheel and it doesn't bother them a bit. And if you're annoyed with one tiny cord being attached to the phone that blocks the audio/climate buttons..... It seems like you wouldn't be happy with any mounting system on the market. How can one cord block all the buttons that makes no sense! I have my phone on the charger about 50% of the time I'm in the car and it's never in my way. I just use the audio controls on my steering wheel like a normal person 😆😆

It is a big deal actually. The vent is supposed to cool me down in the summer. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry. (^: Cell phone mount would block the vent in my car. I use a charge cord that goes into the cig lighter. Then I place the phone into my 2nd cup holder. My phone is still loud enough to hear the nav directions and I never answer the phone while driving because that's how people crash their cars a lot. Some people open windows and never use the vent, that's cool. Some people have buttons on their steering wheel, that's fine for them. I never said the cord "blocks all the buttons" so no idea why you said that. A cord on my dash would block 4 buttons of the 10 and the buttons were designed to use by feel so you can keep your eyes on the road. If I have to look down and move a cord from the button I want, then it's a safety issue.

Just received mine. Tried it in my CRV. Fell out of the vent and phone hit the floor face down. Fortunately, it didn't break because it hit the stick shift hard on the way down. I don't understand how it's supposed to STAY in the vent. What am I doing wrong?
@jot2b
@jot2b 7 жыл бұрын
I think, all vents are not created equal. Mine, I had to sort of squeeze it on there, and it fits snugly. But I'm afraid some vents may not be so accommodating. However, best tip I can give to keep the PHONE on MAGNET is to install the sticker permanently affixed to your phone. I used the put-the-magnet-inside-case method first, and the phone slid off and hit the floor like you described.

Yes that's the answer if it doesn't hold onto the magnet mount the problem is it doesn't stay in the vent when you pull off the phone, there's another type that's better that stays in the vent by the same manufacturer.

Love the mount in the car but I just noticed last night that my wireless charging no longer works. I guess I should've realized that it would've been affected but didn't. The only thing I can think of is to move the metal plate to different locations to see if it makes it better. Any other ideas?
@TechMatte
@TechMatte 8 жыл бұрын
+Jesse Reich Hi Jesse, For that issue, we would recommend adjusting the location of the metal plate. Some phones actually work without the metal plates if they have metal inside of them. Perhaps give that a shot? Thanks!
@aznrabbit
@aznrabbit 8 жыл бұрын
+Jesse Reich Wireless charging works by induction - a rapid changing of a magnetic field. A magnetic plate acts as an faraday cage, perfect blockage of induction charging.
@jrreich80
@jrreich80 8 жыл бұрын
+Jeremy B Thanks Jeremy but I didn't ask why. The plate doesn't act as a faraday cage at all since it isn't a cage and we're talking about magnetic fields not electromagnetic fields. If it were a faraday cage the cell phone signal would be greatly affected.
@jrreich80
@jrreich80 8 жыл бұрын
+Jeremy B Oh and the plate is metal, not magnetic. The magnet is the part you attach to your vent.
@aznrabbit
@aznrabbit 8 жыл бұрын
Sorry, my mistake, not a complete Faraday cage, just a induction shield. The metal plate acts as shield for the electric field produced by induction charging. The signal is not affected because the RF waves travel around the metal plate.

@kimr6482

The product actually comes with two magnets for your device- a large rectangle and a pretty good sized circle. I think it's worth a shot, it could very well work as the magnet mount is VERY strong. If you read my above comment I just posted actually, a client of mine with an iPhone 6+ uses both magnets and it works perfectly. For the very low price, it's definitely worth a shot to see if your tablet would work, only being 3 inches bigger than the 6+. And if it doesn't work, you could always use it for a phone, pass it along to a friend or family member, or of course return it! Best of luck!

I have the thinnest case and it fits perfectly, can never even tell it's there. But since my case is clear, and it don't like that you can see it, I do take the magnet out sometimes and just leave it on the mount. If I didn't have a clear case, I would never take it out!

***** Unfortunately, this is one of the caveats of this car mount. It is a great position for your phone, but one vent will be blocked while it is in use. We also have a CD mount, and a Dashboard mount that use the same magnetic concept. Perhaps you can use one of those during the extreme weather months? www.amazon.com/TechMatte-Magnetic-Universal-Eco-Friendly-Packaging/dp/B00V54LQO4/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1435086582&sr=8-6&keywords=cd+car+mount www.amazon.com/TechMatte-Windshield-Dashboard-Universal-Eco-Friendly/dp/B00Q7TOW5W/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1435086601&sr=8-3&keywords=car+mount+maggrip I hope this helps!

How can I remove the "permanent" sticker from my phone?
@TechMatte
@TechMatte 8 жыл бұрын
+Daniel Kirkman From our tests, it is impossible to remove the sticker. The best advice I can offer is to try to pry it off with a stiff piece of metal. I apologize for the inconvenience.
@williamsellers1904
@williamsellers1904 8 жыл бұрын
+Daniel Kirkman It may be too late, but if you've manage a small gap on one of the corners you could try braided fishing line and wrapped between two stiff rods such as a fat sharpie marker and pull either end alternating until you've essentially garrotted it off. Copious amounts of rubbing alcohol could help as well? Good luck!
