A look at a Harman Kardon Aura Airplay Speaker.
Purchased from the Outlet/Refurbished store in the UK - link below.

Here's some other links (be very careful you buy the right model).

Be especially careful with the above Amazon link - the Aura studio model has been listed under the Aura name in error. The refurbished models appear to be the Airplay model.

+Techmoan In my opinion, the Bowers and Wilkins (Go go UK) Zeppelin Air and the A7 are the ones to beat. And to be honest, I have not heard this particular speaker in this review but I recall a similar style of speaker from Harman back around 2008 that came with the MAC desktop, I found it a little under powered. But that could be due to the fact that I'm spoiled by niche audio brands anyhow (as well as some big names, yamaha).

funny I have the speaker to only thing is the mono that it produces is not that good also it has no connectivity with other speakers to stereo for your home is not an option with this this is more of a little radio for your garage or your back porch as for mine it's sat in the closet all year and I'm still on the lookout for a worthy set of speakers that will link together wirelessly

Get a Federal signal Modulator, or a Whelen WPS 2702/2802/2902. It may not be stylish, might not have Airplay and might be oversized, but it has 360° sound, it is loud and can be used as an outdoor warning siren.

Techmoan, if you want the wifi capabilites without the 400 pounds (and there's no refurbished models available) it might be a good idea to grab a Google Chromecast Audio. It plugs into the 3.5mm jack (or by toslink) and connects it to wifi for around 30 pounds or so. so that'll add up to under 300 pounds for the Studio+Chromecast Audio. If you haven't tested it or the normal Chromecast (the new one obviously since you've done the old one) I'd recommend it. Works great, much much better than the old one, and supports multiple platforms.
@Techmoan

@halsoy
@halsoy 8 жыл бұрын
Techmoan No, I was just talking in general. It supports other sources like Spotify or local music on your phone/tablet/pc. I haven't actually tested it from an iDevice yet, but from my understanding apps with native support such as Spotify will work just the same. And it was more a general tip for people that aren't looking specifically for Airplay.

I have one of these and am very happy with the its sound and looks, but I have not worked out how you clean the dust out after three years. Anyone know? They are sealed shut so you cannot take the clear plastic top off. Sticking a small nozzel vacuum tube down central hole risks damaging the speaker and doesn't get all the dirt out . All sensible suggestions gratefully received

I pretty much never comment on KZfaq videos - I just don't really engage with anything approaching "Social Media", but I have to say, I found the Muppet/Puppet sketch at the end of this one hilarious. I really liked the typing method and the fact that it was on such an old and (IIRC) hard to come by Mac'. Keep up the good work - also the more audio stuff and tear downs / comparisons the better! Not that it's important, but I'm using a 42 year old Pioneer SA-410 as my main amp, and it's great.

looks like they are using a 4th or 6th order bandpass design in order to get the lower frequencies. if that black bottom part is mesh and allows sound though, then yeah, 6th order. probubly sounds good and rich for a stand alone speaker, but i doubt its all that flat of a sound (but, seeing as most people arent after that, thats kind of expected) cheers, and thanks for the review!

One problem I can see is that you can't easily clean inside it and it makes an excellent bug trap. To avoid making the best YT comment ever, I looked up the manual and theres no procedure for removing the dome. I also looked to see if people actually had this problem and yes they do. It seems it does make an good bug trap.

+randomsanwhich and +FlyingAero it actualy was the harmon/kardon ISUB and was a seperate product that used the usb bus and a usb sound card inside one unit that looked a lot like this, but it only works with power pc macs which were sold before apple switched to intel chips in 2006 which is when the mac pro came out so you are like the average computer noob confusing yourself with the similar design of the powermac g5 which is a power pc mac, the easiest way to tell the difference is weather there are two grey rectangles at the top or one, if it has one it is a powermac g5 which did not come with it just like every other power pc mac as the ISUB was sold seperately but g4 tower systems and the imac g4 included the apple pro speakers which had no sub and were made by harmon/karmon , if it has two it is a 2006 to 2012 mac pro which did not ever come with it either
