@flippantmrflip Hello, Thanks for watching my videos. I really wish I cant make a video for each and every, very specific , issue that may go wrong with a 1200. There is just not enough time. Your particular situation of loose screws is extremely rare and was obviously caused by a careless, previous repair. Just remember, my video did help you with the discovery of your problem. In fact, even though it took you a little more time than you wished for your discovery, you now have more knowledge.

@delsurway I know a lot of dj's who have had good luck with those. They have a lower center of gravity. Thanks for the post.

also as a general help matter, if your needles are still skipping using a Shure M44-7, re-balance your tonearms correctly and set them to the proper weight after balancing, which is usually 2.0 to 2.5, sometimes 3 on the weight adjustment, they wont skip after that

@Shineboie yep, everything is worth trying, sooner or later the new dj will find the right combo for him/herself.

The wobbly platter ploblem can also be caused by one or more of the 3 screws that hold the spindle in place being even slightly loose. Maybe include this in the description? If i'd have known that before I watched this vid it would have saved me taking the whole spindle out to check the baseplate (which wasn't bent in my case). The problem was the loose screws all along.

@ProfessorPeeweee do you mean that it is a one-piece unit like the Ortofon or Trackmaster? If it's one of these, it should be no problem at all. Those work great because you dont have to worry about adjusting the needle's overhang like on the stock headshell. There's also less room for tracking error with an Ortofon or Trackmaster type headshell because tracking angles are fixed.

There is another speed of lp that i know of is 70rpm. This speed was used on the old victrolas. A few years back, Gemini and a couple of other companies offered a turntable with 70 rpm

TO ALL : Please, if you can, also include your tonearm settings if you're recommending certain cartridges ( i.e. height, weight, skate etc....) This info will greatly help others. Please see my video "The Balancing Act" to get correct weight measrement. Thank you all for the added tips.

the best scratching needles/carts are the Shure M44-7's or the Ortofon Q-bert carts, though the Q-berts are a bit more expensive.

@MurksYourHeroes It sure beats using those old KTEL compilation records, remember those? How else could they fit 8-10 songs per side. Those things had the worst freq reproduction. Those were crazy narrow grooves!

Does anyone know how much play is meant to be in the platter by applying pressure on both sides and rocking it back and forth? I have bought a whole new m447 cartridge and still seems to skip. Both of my platters have the same amount of movement.

hi tuneup1200. I'm French and I do not understand English very well. So I have a hard time understanding what you explain. I have the same problem that we see at 53 seconds. my diamond moves from left to right. But I do not understand what you do. I just see you cartbridge replaces the default is no longer displayed. Can you tell me whether you did anything other than replace the cartbridge. PS: I've had Shure M44-7 Thanx by advance

@DjTiP04 its probably isn't balance and your grams is probably wrong... the shure m447 are good when i bought there nice but i change my needles every 5 months so it wont fuk up more

Most likely it's the cartridge's suspension that is failing, rather than a worn stylus.

@joidi2 i don't think - by this time - they (higher priced) even sound "worse" anymore...using proper quality audio-material of course. it's just from my pov - microwave style VS proper cooking. yeah output COULD be the same, but HOW is it done? by practice -> skill - or reading the manual. but my guess, you are a mix-dj not a turntablist or scratch-dj - since you even consider going digital and If you love making music, but don't want to practice that much, go digital :) rip. 1200s ;'(
